Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman (1993)
TV show not a Documentary
I don't understand the judgemental reviews and negativity. Exactly what this show was exposing...Humans judging each other.
This show is FICTIONAL STORIES based on some history. It is not a documentary, it is a show for entertainment purposes. Why must everything be labeled left or right.
The show presents issues and injustices that occurred and still occur. It shows human behavior in a western setting and how people are so quick to dismiss and judge each other for being different. The struggles of being female, black (African American), Native American (Indian), being a different religion, and other baises. I remember growing up and others telling me that I was not able to do things and participate because I am female. Treated with disrespect because I was quiet and shy. I was made fun of and verbally abused for being smart and doing well in school. Physically attacked by boys for what reason I don't know. I loved this show because there is this wonderful human being who happens to be female standing up against these issues.
I watch it because it shows some one trying to be non judgmental(even though sometimes she is) and understanding, a person always trying to help, being a good human being. Dr. Quinn trys to solve problems in a calm manner without fighting. I took away a star because I felt that sometimes she is too involved in others private matters.
Most importantly the show makes me feel good. That is what an entertainment TV show is for.
I also watch Star Trek not for its historical purposes.
