Sister did the right thing
18 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This was an interesting episode. The sister absolutely did the right thing and I was sad for her when she said that she lost friends and family for what she did. A little bit of insight was provided into how her brother became the way he did when the mom said to the sister "what did you do to my son?" I have kids and completely get wanting to protect them, but she clearly chose her son over her daughter in that moment. And the son murdered an innocent girl, he absolutely deserved to be arrested and face the death penalty. The mom was upset that the sister didn't destroy evidence to protect the brother/son/murderer.

Poor daughters
18 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I liked this episode but the mom really bothered me. She continuously chose this guy over her kids. Even after he told one of her daughters to kill herself, the mom seemingly stopped talking to her daughter rather than her husband. She never once showed emotion, not even when she talked about her daughter getting stabbed. I'm not trying to victim blame, and I know the mom was conned and charmed, but I feel so bad for her daughter who went through such a traumatic experience because her mom refused to listen to her.

The Fall (I) (2013–2016)

Excited to see the next season
9 August 2014
So far I've only watched the first three episodes and I'm looking forward to finishing season 1 today. I love the show so far. I like the slower pace and the focus on various story lines. My husband came home when I was in the middle of episode 1 and he was confused as to why we already knew who the killer is. He thought that it couldn't possibly be good since the 'mystery' was already taken away but he ended up watching the next two episodes with me. Even he got hooked. I love that we know who the killer is right away because we can see what he does leading up to the murder and try to find the signs in his life that everyone else is obviously missing (I would miss them too if I didn't already know that he's a serial killer!). To me this show exerts a different kind of terror because he seems like so many other people. He even seems respectable on the surface with a good career (as a grief counselor!) and a wife and kids.

I wish more shows today were like this. I've had a hard time lately finding a show that I can really get into but I'm already hooked on this one and looking forward to the next season.

On a side note other women must be more trusting than me because when we watched a scene with the nanny I told my husband that there's no way I would hire a cute 15 year old nanny and leave her alone with my husband!

Lie to Me (2009– )

Wish they had a series finale
9 August 2014
I had never heard of this show until about a week ago when I was looking at a list of shows to binge watch on Netflix. This show was high on that list. I was hooked from the first episode. I find the use of micro expressions fascinating and loved learning about it in the show.

This is one of the rare shows that I liked all of the characters. I finished the last episode last night and will be sad not knowing what happens to them. I especially liked the relationship between Cal and his daughter. I like that this show portrays an intelligent and likable teenager. When I was a teen I made some mistakes, but I wasn't as dumb or obnoxious and teens in so many other shows and movies. Emily was a great character to watch.

I wish that there was a series finale so that they could tie up the lose ends, but since it has been off the air for a while I supposed that it will not happen. Even though the ending is that of a regular episode this show it still absolutely worth watching.

Hostages (2013–2014)

Good start, hope it can keep momentum
24 February 2014
It says a lot to me when I dislike every character on a show yet eagerly tune in each week to see what happens. I dislike every character on this show, especially the female lead (the doctor). I can't stand her. Yet I have no problem admitting that I love this show and can't wait to see what happens. When it first started I wondered how this is a TV show. Surely it would be better as a movie. How long can we keep watching these hostages week after week? As I watched more and more unfolded. It turns out to be much more complicated than you would originally think. Now that the first season is over I wonder how in the world they will keep this up. I still don't understand how they made an entire season revolving around 1 single event (the president's surgery). Somehow they did it though, and they made an excellent first season. I will eagerly tune into season 2 and see if they can keep the magic going.

Started out so promising...
24 February 2014
I was seriously addicted to this show at first. I used to love it. Olivia Pope was a strong and seemingly respected character. At some point I started watching less and less and now I haven't watched an episode in years. I can't remember exactly when I stopped watching but I know I got sick of the story line with her and the president. It got to the point where you just really don't care whether or not they're together. It also got to the point where I just didn't really care for Olivia anymore. She's not the strong female character she used to be.

Addicting but I don't buy the affair
24 February 2014
I like this show a lot and find it fairly addicting. I wish that the affair had stretched out a bit longer though, because that part of the show was interesting. Overall I liked the first season and will definitely watch the second. I'm curious as to where the second season will go because as of right now I have no idea. I gave it 7 out of 10 because I absolutely HATE the chemistry between Sarah and Jack. I don't buy it at all. If two people are going to cheat on their spouses and risk the destruction of their families then the affair needs to be passionate and believable. It's not. Every time I see the two of them together on screen I can't help but roll my eyes.

Dexter (2006–2013)

Started strong but flailed
24 February 2014
When I saw season 1 of Dexter I thought that it was the best show ever created. I do still believe that season 1 was a masterpiece. I also loved season 2 (my husband didn't) and season 3. After season 3 it started to flail. I kept watching, hoping that it would get back whatever magic it had those first few seasons. My husband loved season 5 though I did not like it. The last season was one of the worst. I felt that through the years Deb just kept getting whinier and whinier. I never loved her but I felt that her character had some depth (the insecure, unlucky in love, foulmouthed, tough female cop) in the beginning. By season 6 I was just sick of seeing her on screen. I don't want to spoil anything in case you've been living under a rock and have never seen Dexter, but I do understand that she went through some things and those things had a profound impact on her. Even so I hate what they did to her character. After season 3 I would watch each season and hope that the next season would be better...but it never was. The show started out so strong and great but it couldn't hold onto the magic.

Raising Hope (2010–2014)

Didn't want to like it but it won me over
24 February 2014
I had absolutely no interest in watching this show. It seemed like a trashy show and I don't find those kinds of shows entertaining. One weekend I was bored and trying to get into a show on Netflix but nothing held my interest. I finally decided to give Raising Hope a try but figured that I would hate it. I made it through the first episode and didn't hate it. I watched a few more and before I knew I started watching more and more episodes after work. I'm now halfway through the second season and I am definitely addicted to this show. Yes, the family is trashy, but what I had not expected is how their love for one another really shows through. It's sweet! And most of the time it's hilarious. One of my favorite episodes was the one with the vasectomy, and also Jimmy's fake girlfriend. Those are the two that stand out in my mind, but they're all funny. I love the chemistry of the cast and the family dynamics in the show.
