A Star Is Born (2018)
BLOWN AWAY!
I wasn't really sure about watching this film.
I'm so glad I decided to watch.
We all know that Gaga can sing but, this truly highlights her power & range. I no longer see her as a joke with silly hair & costumes.
This woman battles the same condition as myself, fibromyalgia & she truly inspires me to carry on.
As for Mr Cooper, his charm, charisma & sex appeal poor through. It makes him & his character far more real.
I didn't check my watch once, couldn't take my eyes off the screen.
If you like this type of film, or even if you don't, I really hope you enjoy it as much as I have.
The Terrible Two (2018)
Terrible acting & plot that's the two!
Set in a beautiful home, a very poor attempt at acting with lousy sound is this films starting point.
The couple are so wooden, there's no sign of any closeness between them. You would think they were estranged brother & sister not husband & wife.
The death of their two daughters is part of the plot, the other part is that their deaths weren't caused by an accident, but, by a demon!!
Storyline was obvious, predictable ' slow moving.
Mother believes she can still hear & speak to her daughters.
Follows so many stories of similar films.
The very best part of the film was seeing the end credits.
Please don't waste your time, energy or mind space.
They don't make decent horrors anymore but, I keep watching the genre in the hopes I might find a gem.
Headgame (2018)
Headache more than game.
The best part of the film was the end credits.
Started off with some promise.
Then it just got predictable & boring. I'm not the type of person to turn a film off though until I get to the end just to see if it can redeem itself.
This film certainly had no redeeming quality.
Acting was poor, concept was repetitive & very overused.
It's a mix of Saw, Hunger Games & most poorly put together "horror" films.
The idea that the last one standing gets to join an elite club that get to keep playing "The Game" was just pathetic.
The end twist was so obviously coming.
Now for the actual film.
All 6 "contestants" wake up with a camera attached to their forehead. They are in an old warehouse that has plenty of cameras all around it. They have to kill each other to win within a 12 hour time frame. As you can imagine it's pretty boring & the obvious favourite wins in the end. There wasn't much thought put into the methods used to bump off any of the players. No clever set ups. Just boring death after death.
Can't think of a decent, recently made horror to suggest watching instead as there are none.
Await Further Instructions (2018)
Same old, same old
This tries way to hard to be a horror gets turns out to be more of a dark comedy about demonic worship.
Wooden actors that try their best with a terrible plot.
Nothing new, not even a jump scare.
Highly predictable & excruciatingly boring.
At least I got jobs done while watching this, matching socks was the most fun!
The Toybox (2018)
Predictable & pathetic
This truly is one of the very worst films I've ever seen.
It's so predictable.
No worthwhile storyline.
Terrible acting.
You can see each death coming a mile off, you can do a countdown from seeing it & when it happens.
I actually found myself laughing at what should have been the most upsetting death.
No character has any sense or personable qualities which means you have no fear of them dying or any feelings about a death.
The end was a blissful relief.
I had to watch it all the way through just to see if anyone would survive, sadly they wanted us to believe a killer camper-van was the winner.
Watch The Lion King instead, it's a far better way to pass some time, with far more realistic deaths too!
The First Purge (2018)
Disappointed
I've enjoyed these films. This one though had so much promise, to give us the reason it was put in place.
Sadly, it failed.
Patient Zero (2018)
Worth the giggle
Terrible accents
Terrible script
Terrible acting
Hilarious concept
Hilarious all round
If you want a dark comedy, THIS IS IT!
Gotti (2018)
Finally a gangster you could love.
As a fan of Travolta, I thought I'd give this a go. I was riveted from start to end.
A solid film with a genuine portrayal of "the life"
Always been interested by the loyalty & belief that they can have two families.
Based on real life, you do start to think though, how did he get away with things for so long??
Travolta really did bring the "Teflon Don" to life & to his death.
Really enjoyed this film.
Unsane (2018)
Wowed
Not quite knowing what to expect from this film, I settled in & thought "Oh well, if it's boring it will help me fall asleep".
I couldn't take my eyes off the screen!
Claire Foy is BRILLIANT. She brought depth to her character Sawyer, you truly felt her fear, desperation & her sadness.
I'm not sure if the inside conspiracy theory is true, if it is then the American healthcare system is fatally flawed.
To close, I truly would recommend this film to anyone. It's worth the time.
The Escape (2017)
Not in the real world.
I think EVERY mum feels like this at some point. I know I felt let there had to be more to me than just a mum. Life does get small, boring routine when you have a child(ten). It's just not everyone can afford to make a choice like that. A single mum can't just walk out on her life. Maybe change the title to "The Daydream of Escape"
By the time she's in the park in Paris, I actually felt angry that she could be so selfish.
All in all this film shows a woman who runs away in a fantasy, tries to forget who she was only to have a giant slap of reality across her face.
Terminal (2018)
More for the intellect?
All the negativity I've read nearly put me off. I'm glad I don't always believe what I read.
I really did enjoy this film, maybe my humour is equally as dark. Giggled instead of yawning.
Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
WOW! WHAT A RIDE.
It's been building to these 2 films.
Within the first 5 minuets I knew this IS THE BEST film from the MCU. It had many answers to questions we've pondered from the start.
I truly laughed & cried all the way through, over the years these characters have become friends & I felt everything they were feeling.
The effects have improved greatly over the years, this film certainly blew your mind, smooth & flawlessly.
We are certainly in for a huge treat with part 2.
