I really had a hard time figuring the point of this movie. May be it was the bad editing. I had a hard developing any empathy for this character. He joins forces with drug dealers to rescue his financial situation. In the end he reconnects with his family through the use of his drug money all the while stereotyping Mexican Americans as drug dealers and cartel members. It was garbage.

At the beginning of this movie I had the feeling that I had at other great films, Forest Gump, Shawshank. The feeling this is going to be a great movie, maybe even an Iconic movie. And it was.
I saw this at the 2018 Nashville Film Festival and was immediately struck by the style and feeling of this film. It was something new and vibrant. I left this movie feeling as my wife Terri told me, "Everyone has one of those summers when there young''. I know that I did of course without the drug dealing and murder.
The only bad thing that I can say is, that the end is a little predictable. You know all isn't going to go well.

I saw this film at the 2018 Nashville Film Festival. This was an incredible true story of the love between a mother and her son as she struggles with the pain of drug addiction. I have been to Salzburg a couple of times, it was strange to see this city from the inside of the drug culture rather than the perspective of a tourist. This is not the Sound of Music Salzburg. Warning this movie is not for the faint of heart, soul-crushing drug addiction is on full display.
You will cringe at the situations this mother puts her 7 year old son in, but through it all the enduring love of a mother and son carry this film with great effect.
