Game of Thrones: The Children (2014)
Season 4, Episode 10
9/10
A worthy end

{BOOK SPOILERS BELOW}

This episode was simply the best.

Every scene had its purpose, every scene had its portion of action and every scene told a lot of story. This episode is the very definition of a perfect mix of action and story, well done!

I was looking forward to this episode the day season 4 started, and it has payed off! I enjoyed it a lot. Though as a book reader (yes I'm going to be grumpy), I must add that some scenes where somewhat simplified. There were some quotes I really missed like 'Wherever whores go', 'Stannis? Stannis! STANNIS!' and 'She's been f*cking Lancel, Kettleback and Moon Boy for all I know'. These quotes put into the matching scene would have made this episode the King of Episodes without doubt. Not that this episode was empty, but this would have made a lot of people go crazy.

Now in this episode we see Brandon finally meeting the Three Eyed Crow, or the Bloodraven. Despite people not being interested in Bran's storyline, I think few people ignored the important scene we saw today. The epic battle with the (very decayed) Wights was superb! And so glad they included Leaf in this episode!

At the Wall Jon is negotiating with Mance while Stannis' cavalry attacks them from both sides, visualized by a great overview shot! The scene here was very good, but I missed 'Stannis? Stannis! STANNIS!'

In King's Landing Cersei is becoming more crazy, telling her father the truth and taking matters into her own hands. Well acted Lena! Following is the escape of Tyrion Lannister, despite the absent discussion with Jaime (I know series are no perfect copies of books, but some scenes need some book quotes to make it even better) this part is well done! He climbs the stairs and meets Shae in Tywin's room, and is shocked, as is Shae. A short struggle follows resulting in the death of Shae, struggled by a chain, just like the books, I couldn't be more pleased! The following chat with Tywin reveals a surprised Tywin and most of all, a scared Tywin... Something no one may have expected. I agree the chat about Shae fits better in the story of Tyrion in the series, if they would have talked about Tysha few people would understand since it's 27 episodes ago since Tyrion last talked about her.

Arya missed another chance of meeting her family. The Hound had a great scene here, the fight was very good, very rough! I liked that! His death was actually postponed by 9 episodes but still, he did a great job this season! Once again we see a merciless Arya, she id well! Arya and the Hound were a joy to watch together, so saying goodbye to Sandor would make the Arya storyline different, or boring should she have stayed in Westeros... But she didn't. Valar Morghulis.

Overall a near perfect episode for the very best season of Game of Thrones ever! But the missing quotes and the absence of LS made me a bit disappointed. I understand they kept it for next season, but it would be one helluva cliffhanger if they included it in the last scene of this episode. Because of the missed opportunity I cannot give this episode a 10/10, but I cannot give a 9/10 either, so 9.5 it is.

Now we have to wait another 9.5 months for the next episode :/

Game of Thrones: The Laws of Gods and Men (2014)
Season 4, Episode 6
10/10
More than satisfying, excellent!

Warning: Spoilers
Congratulations to the makers of this episode!

After the less action packed episodes 4 and 5 we got a very strong and well acted episode 6. This episode had no weak points that I know of. Every scene has it's 'wow effect' or 'damn effect' or the 'interesting... effect'. This episode is a masterpiece.

First we meet Davos and Stannis in Braavos, finally that city got on screen! And we see the Iron Bank for the first time as well. A genius speech of Davos made Stannis rich enough to keep fighting his war.

Then we meet Yara Greyjoy for the first time this season, a brilliant cinematography and a very strong and emotional dialogue. Some people would complain not having seen Yara for 5 episodes, but those people would forget that she sailed all around Westeros to reach the Dreadfort.

The Daenerys chapter starts good with Drogon eating a goat. Then we meet Hizdahr zo Loraq, one of the new major characters for the coming seasons. And he is well cast and plays his part perfect! We see Daenerys doubt if she made the right choice by crucifying the Wise Masters. The beginning of a whole new story for Daenerys is about to enroll.

And after that, the trial begins in King's Landing. The first parts were done good, letting the viewer see how unfair the trial is and how Cercei has every witness under her control. The Varys part was very interesting and somewhat revealing of what goal Varys longs for. The second part of the trial is just astonishing! The acting was superb, the emotion was really noticeable. When Shae testifies against Tyrion his heart breaks. He really got it that he is not given a fair trial, and demands trial by combat in a very, very strong speech. I was really laughing from joy and of how perfect this scene was. I have never felt so good and satisfied with a series' episode in my whole life. I think Peter Dinklage won his Emmy in this very scene.

This is equally with The Rains of Castamere the most perfect episode in the whole series.

10/10!

Game of Thrones: Oathkeeper (2014)
Season 4, Episode 4
10/10
Excellent Episode despite some negative reviews!
29 April 2014
Warning: Spoilers
First of all, congratulations to the creators of this episode, it was a joy to watch!

Now I noticed that there was a lot of commotion around this episode, like people saying it 'spoils' The Winds Of Winter, I mean, the white walker scene in the end was NOT revealing anything that happened or will happen in TWOW, come on! The baby sacrifice has been going on for years, adding this scene only explains what happens to the babies. There is no and will not be a POV on a white walker, these guys don't speak so that would be an empty character, what they showed us is something that will never occur in the books since it is impossible to tell. It is ridiculous to think of this scene as a spoiler! Soon people won't even read the books or watch the series because they don't want to spoil themselves. Ridiculous. I read all the books, and I really enjoyed this episode so much I was clapping when it finished.

They did add some changes, like the Bran scene at craster's, but that is no more than expected. The main events always occur, the characters only get there in a slightly different way. Except Jon's plan to attack the deserters at Crasters, that's entirely new but is not bad because it is new. It's one of those reasons to keep watching the series even if you read the books. If you expect the series to be a copy of the books you're gonna have a bad time.

So after all, this was and is one of the best episodes so far in GoT. 9,5/10
