No other way to say it -- REPLICAS SUCKS
4 May 2024
I see why Nick Cage turned it down, and why there was a three year delay in releasing it. I read the first twenty or so reviews, and most are negative, too. There are so many mistakes, nobody would read an itemization. I gave up after they decided to delete Zoe, rather than wait and DO her, when the others were finished. Debating wether I should skip ahead to the finish or not. I hate to even donate this dvd to the Thrift Store, knowing that anyone who bought it for a dollar, would probably be more disappointed than I am. Even so,,, it IS Keanu, and I am wondering,,, What Would John Wick Do???

Exit Plan (2019)

It's not that this isn't a well made movie,,,
29 December 2023
,,, it's just that it is sooo slow. It's an expansion on what Sol goes through in his last moments of life, when he decides to check out, in Soylent Green, with a dash of Carousel and wanting more life, like the runners in Logans' Run,,, and a dash of Roy Batty from Blade Runner added into the script. Yep, his brain tumor might explain some of the more disturbing occurences and you have to question what version of reality is transpiring. It IS disturbing to think that this might be the way our lives end up. We all want to die peacefully in out sleep with out boots on, but, we can see right now that this will not be the case for many people. This film is going to make a lot more people think about that possibility.

Waste of Film and Time
27 December 2023
Painfully slow with wooden characters. Alicia could not save this flick. Two stars ONLY for Alicia. The terrorist Somali's are idiots, behave like Idiots, and are written like Idiots. As the plot progressed I had no doubt that there would be some disaster with the submarine, but strangely enough that did not happen. No resolution in the third act. Boy and Girl did not get back together and survive the idiocy they were both subjected to. Seems like they were trying for an Artsy Craftsy thing, and it just fell on it's face. If you are EVER tempted to watch this box of schmaltz,,,even for an oportunity to see Alicia,, resist the urge. She seems satisfied with the finished product in the dvd interviews, but, I'm guessing she was obligated to plug the movie, regardless of her personal feelings. I sympathize. Please be more discerning in your choice of scripts. We love you, and we love Eva and Lara~!~!~

This is some Sick Shxt
15 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I thought I had seen some off-the-wall movies, but THIS ONE takes the prize. Once in a while, stuff like this hits the headlines, but, making a feature film out of it really takes the cake. Giant problem with keeping someone in a bomb shelter for Seventeen Years, and then, considering that it was the guys daughter, getting her pregnant four times without ANYONE noticing, or arrousing any suspicion, is asking Too Much. The other two movies,,, Girl In A Box, and Girl In A Bunker are only a bit less shocking. All three are supposedly based on true stories, which makes them all the more horrific. I'm just.............. . . . . .

tv pilot for a series never green lit ?
10 June 2023
Missed the mark. Sort of a fairy tale, with an anti-hero that is almost impossible to warm up to. He is a looser, a maladroit, talks to himself and the dog, when he KNOWS the monsters will come after any sound. He struggles to make complete sentences, and must be taken care of, by everyone in his colony. It became a struggle just to watch him stumble and stammer through this movie. What Amiee ever saw in him to begin with, is the great mystery. The monsters saved this from being a complete disaster. Of course the dog was cool; both of him.. and the cow. This might appeal to kids and some teens. Can't imagine older teens and adults would find anything salvagable.

An honest effort,,,,,, but,,,,,,
22 April 2023
Seventy One reviews and I'm pretty sure everything that Can be said, HAS BEEN said, however - - - It's not a bad movie. It has some Good Points, in addition to a story that should be considered, much in the same way that the alternative should also be considered. It COULD Happen, and more than likely WILL happen at some point. Watching it, I thought about all the Billy Jack movies, and even Easy Rider.

I thought about the world governments reacting to this event in 1972, pretty much the same way governments reacted to covid in 2020.

The mark of the beast in this film, was a tattooed computer code, not the 666 expected, and the 2020 mark were the face diapers required to enter any public building, enforced by,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, The Government. Thankfully that fiasco didn't last, and the Plan-demic was NOT the rapture.

I have to question the trivia posts. I seriously doubt that John Holmes auditioned for this film, and doubt that the Blondie song, "rapture" was inspired by it. Many comments have been made about the Left Behind franchise made later on, but nothing has been said about The Rapture, with Meme Rogers and Will Patton. The Rapture is a much better film than either Thief In The Night, or the Left Behind films, and is probably a lot closer to what might happen, and how real people will react.

Take this film for what it's worth. It seems to have reached it's target audience, judging from the other reviews.

A credible effort
26 March 2023
Why isn't this film available on a dvd???????? Lacks the impact of the original story, but still good. I think perhaps being made in 2018, they would make the "look" of the computer a bit more in line with the larger machines and print on regular paper, not a strip strongly suggestive of ,,,,,, well,,,,,, toilet paper. Indeed, a satellite down-link from the Internet wouldn't change the flavor of the tale. Two guys walking out of the job, not flying out before making the discovery, doesn't work. Would I be out of line to suggest they try again? Or someone else, might give it another shot? Maybe?

Stock footage -- AUUUUUGHH
7 November 2022
Stock footage shown in the preview, is the same stock footage used in the Ramar Of The Jungle episodes. Suzanne Dalbert starred in the Lady Of The Leopards.

Apparently all these stock shots have been traded around in pretty much every early "Jungle" movie. It would be nice to know where they came from and who made all these inserts.

It's going to be tough coming up with additional commentary on the use of completely unrelated scenes, dropped into movies, that do not look fake as all get-out. The constraints of miniscule budgets severely limit any additional shooting schedules, which leaves few alternatives.

MESS In Black
8 August 2022
What a mess, indeed. Almost an embarrassment that Liam Neeson and Emma Thompson took a paycheck from this disaster. Plot and story made no sense and Hemsworth comes off like an idiot, certainly not a candidate for running the London division. Pawny is a sorry attempt at some sort of cutesy ET and could have been eliminated completely. This will thankfully, bury the franchise.

Nah . . .
31 July 2022
Trailer looked good, but... They lost me in the first act when her father gave her a gun with not even the barest suggestion of how to use it. Then when she does, she fires off ten rounds from a seven round magazine when it's obvious there is no additional round "in the pipe". Later when she checks the mag, we see at least One round at the top.

Lots of mistakes and plot holes besides the listed "Goofs".

It's just another in the continuing bucket of teen flicks with Hunger Games and Divergent, and, as someone else mentioned. Twilight. I liked Games, and Divergent, however.

I got a chuckle out of the Aliens' use of a virus, and the earthling reaction; masks and all, plus the toss-off that SOME people are immune.

Alien Plan-demic. Yep!

OMG,,, I read all the previous nineteen reviews and agree with all of them. I got this in a box of freebies, some of which were pretty good, but,, if I could, I would give this back. Nobody has mentioned the terrible set decoration, so I will DO that. The props include a plastic see-through coffee jar, complete with screw top lid. The electronics include a video booster with co-ax connections on the back. The welding helmets have already been mentioned, but the associated oxygen cans are recycled propane tanks for gas barbeque grilles. AUUUUUUGH~!~!~ Whoever backed this flick lost their asses, no doubt.

48 prior reviews, yet I am compelled to add nbr 49

Dear. Gawd.

That this film even exists while other classics rot away in the film vaults, boggles my mind. Plan Nine has been the running joke for,,,, ever, but I have never seen anything worse than THIS one. I feel moderately bad about kicking it while it's down after everyone else has done a more than adequate job, but, the scene from AIRPLANE where passengers and crew line up to shake and slap the incoherent girl, comes immediately to mind. The notable cast could have done so much better IF they had a script, a crew, a studio; or ANYTHING to work with. I'm sure they thought it would be a much better picture than it ultimately became. I'm also sure it was an embarrassment to be associated with it, once it was finally released. Also pretty sure it even caused Roger Corman to cringe, and he had Nothing to do with it.

Mabel
3 October 2020
Fond memories of this show, and of Rocky,,, from a past when I was just beginning to collect the first memories of ANYTHING. I don't remember any details,, other than the last few minutes of the last episode. Rocky broke the fourth wall, and said that many fans have written in, asking to see Mabel, and being the season and series finale, he said that Mabel had come down to the studio to say a few words, so,, here she is, folks~! The camera panned over to Mabel who was standing beside him, and AUUUUUGHHHH - - - was badly out of focus~!~! ( probably on purpose ) Rocky made some "lame",,, ha ha,,, excuse about "technical difficulties", and signed off for the last time. The only other series finale that ranks up in the stratosphere with THIS ONE,,, was the Howdy Doody Show, when Clarabelle spoke his only two words - " Goodbye Kids." The Golden Age Of Television. It was Wonderful, Magickal, and will never be repeated.

Bottom of the barrel
5 July 2020
I've seen some screwed up movies, but THIS one, is beyond screwed. Might have worked as a comic book marketed to the mentally deranged, but I don't think I could enjoy it. even if I was drunk out of my mind, and OD-ing on at least four different chemicals. If I listed specifics, this opinion would be twelve pages long. Nothing is ALL bad, since there are no Absolutes, and Charlotte Rampling is the sole saving grace. He character sucks, the dialog they gave her sucks, and her presence is IT. The crew learned something of their craft, perhaps,, as did the computer people, but what they learned will only be evident in the next movie they might make, if they don't leave the business altogether. It's going to take a while to erase this turkey from my short term memory.

Dumbo - the back story
23 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Nothing new to add, but I DO have some questions. I love this film and the Tim Burton remake as much as anyone, however - Perhaps I should simply enjoy it, but I would like some back story. Mrs Jumbo may have had a partner but if so, who was he and what happened to him? She is a Single Mom, eagerly expecting, but without a mate. She and the other elephants all seem to be Indian Elephants, judging by the size of their ears, yet her baby has large floppy ears usually associated with African Elephants. What about Mr. Jumbo? Much has been said about the Roustabouts and the Crows. Is there a clue here? I have done some Googling, and Wiki digging, but if there IS something to this, no one wants to voice an opinion. Wondering if I am the only one who has thought about it. Also wondering if anyone else thinks Timothy Mouse sounds like Curly, from the Three Stooges?

Did I miss something?
20 November 2016
Is it just me? Am I mistaken?? I have looked to see if anyone else noticed,,, but,,, Wow,,, that SURE looks like Rutger Hauer as one of the guys in the jail cell when the GBs are thrown into the clink. If it IS,, he should get an honorable mention at least as well as Ron Jeremy. OK OK,, not a big thing, but significant, maybe only to me, but since I need to run up the line count to make this review valid, then I guess it needs to be a Big Deal. Rutger? Are you listening? Hit me back,, email, or FB page will be fine. All these memories will be lost in time, if I don't write 'em down, so,,, here it is, for what it's worth. Can You Dig It? I KNEW That You Could.

Synchronicities
6 November 2016
Have revisited an echo from the past tonight. (November 2016). First saw this b/w film in '49 or '50 when I was six years old, and it has stuck with me for ,,, a while. Yes, it's pretty hokey, but my Old Man identified with the mules and a life style that was obsolete, even in 1948 when it was produced. The script is grade-school, but charming and the acting is stilted, but typical for a B-movie. Over all, leaves you with a fondness for a world that no longer exists. Happily the DVD is from a technicolor print in pristine condition. I recognize the Old Mans hat as the same one Walter Brennan wears; Moms' Sunbeam Mix Master on the kitchen counter; and the tin document box where Walter keeps Snugs' Dads' Last Will and Testament, is the same box I kept my crayons in, and now keep my own documents -- including the Wills and Deeds. Amazing coincidences, which probably mean nothing to anyone but my self, listed here, for your own amusement... Enjoy the Movie.

Tunnel Vision (I) (2013)
10/10
vastly underrated
1 November 2016
Found this movie in a compilation of action films, that were mostly stinkers, and TUNNEL VISION clearly is head and shoulders above the gang. I don't understand why this film never got the recognition it deserves. For a low budget independent, it should be right up there with the major studio crime dramas, such as PRISONERS,also a 2013 film but with major stars. The actors in TUNNEL VISION are largely unknown, playing flawed characters, which seem all the more believable as real people. Christo has done a great job, in the footsteps of Stallone doing ROCKY,, as a writer, producer, and actor in his own film. Direction and Camera Work notable and out of the ordinary. I found this to be a totally engaging movie, and recommend it highly.

weird
3 September 2016
Kinda like Beetlejuice meets Monte Python. Rose McGowan and Bridgette Fonda are terrific,,, Frazer is _____ ... Story line is a bit confusing, but, maybe that's just me. Gonna be hard to come up with six more lines of text,, but give me a sec and I will try to get some more thoughts together. Wow,, this is really harder than I thought. Never heard about it or saw it in the theater, or even advertised, so, maybe it was made to go straight to video. I'm sure a lot of effort and money went into it, but for me it just misses the mark. Ahh -- there --- ten lines. How'z Zat? Holy cow,,, STILL not enough lines. Well,, let's go back to Rose McGowan. She is super hot, and way overdue for a big blockbuster. Loved Planet Terror; cried when she lost her leg, but the prosthesis was more than adequate. Love to see her in another Tarentino film, along with Zoe Bell who is another favorite. That should do it -- everybody happy now? Good!!!

Prisoners (2013)
disturbing
5 May 2016
Yep, disturbing,,, and completely implausible. Jake is great as the detective, but Jackmans' character is a contradiction. Ending is completely wrong. Too late to UN-see it, but, maybe not for YOU. Jackman, being a survivalist, should NEVER have let himself get into the predicament he did. First mistake was turning his back on Melissa Leo, second was allowing her to make him put on the hand cuffs, third was not gunning the Camaro in reverse and taking her off with the open door she was standing beside, fourth was allowing her to shoot him in the leg, fifth was getting into the hole, sixth was not finding a way to climb back out and simply push the plywood aside, seventh was not throwing something at the plywood when he heard voices above, and attract some attention. Add to that, the fact that NOBODY even checked the Camaro and decided to dig on the opposite side of the house. May have crossed Jakes mind, but if it did, fade-out eliminated the thought. Is that enough? How about - Are these girls MORONS talking to strangers and getting into the camper? BOTH girls? When one of their fathers is a SURVIVALIST? How about Jake telling his captain to "go f__ yourself"..???

Great cast - wasted on a poor script. Sorry --but, that's the way I see it...

trend toward complete screen black out
8 May 2011
OK - they want to convey dark foreboding, and an air of mystery -- but Jeez -- staring at a black screen for half the movie, just doesn't do it for me. Give us a break and hire some electricians, spend some money on lights and power, and let us SEE JUST WHAT THE HECK IS HAPPENING, not just poorly lit photography. The first four films were enjoyable, but the last few were just not as good. Even after obtaining the dvds, and re-running scenes over and over to try and see just what was going on, these blacked out segments were not worth the effort. Couple that with the other annoying Hollywood technique of using jiggly hand-held cameras, and this last installment becomes a candidate for scrapping and re-shooting. David Yates, are you listening?? Don't waste film, talent, and time -- let us SEE your work, not guess at it.

Sabre Jet (1953)
Welll,,,, yeah, but--
2 January 2008
Agree with you guys about some of the stock footage. TOP GUN, it ain't, but, even the bad stuff is good, since,,, ya can't see any real Sabre Jets anymore,,, except for ONE that has been restored and does the air shows. Early Robert Stack is priceless, considering his Elliot Ness, and Airplane work with Zucker and Abrams. The part that always got me was the Korean pilot who got shot up, and rips off his face mask. In the theatrical version I saw, that was when a black and white movie switched to color for all the blood in the cockpit. Yeeecht!~! The McConnell Story is a bit better, and The Hunters is better yet, especially for the flying sequences, but this one was thoroughly enjoyable for a ten year old kid who loved airplanes and lived for those Saturday Matinée double features. So, yeah, it's a turkey, but, what the heck --- Gobble Gobble~!!~! ;-)
