Fool's Paradise (2023)
Fool's Paradise, part 2 is needed!
Very good comedy, especially when it is about Hollywood, its merits and flaws!
Fool's Paradise really reminds of Chaplin movies, and some other hits, like Bowfinger, Bean, etc.
Something happened to the story in the second half. I think it was not funny compared to the beginning. The ending was disappointing, too. That is why the movie has a rather low rating. Never underestimate the power of ending!
It would be great to watch a continuation of Latte Pronto adventures. But the script should be better, more fun/comedy.
Charlie Day created a character which has a lot of potential to entertain the audience for many years!
Barbie (2023)
Great works do not belong to nations - they belong to all mankind
It is a very good movie, a great movie! The actors are great, the film's making is very good in general.
I like the diversity of important topics discussed in the movie: growing up and changing from girl/boy to woman/man; importance of woman and man (matriarchy vs. Patriarchy); friendship; racial and sexual diversity; ageing; dying; capitalism; unhappy love (poor Ken :), etc. Probably, this complexity of topics distracts us from enjoying this great movie to the full? That is why it has a somewhat low rating?
But otherwise, the movie is very entertaining; there are a lot of nice jokes, beautiful scenes, too.
My daughter had the Barbie couple of decades ago. Their relations were great and perfect! :)
Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014)
Michael Bay is a genous
It is a very good movie! A bit worse than Transformers 1. All those Great Transformers Saga movies are really good.
Many movie (art) lovers write that the plot is too heavy because of too much action. I agree. But in this case (Art), it is okay.
The Living Wake (2007)
The ending is a big mistake
Great dark comedy!
Mike O'Connell gives a genous performance. Other actors are also very good.
But the ending is too dark. It killes the viewer's admiration for this movie. Big mistake.
BigBug (2022)
From Marquis de Sade to Space Odyssey 2001
I like this movie. It shows that the great French Movie is still alive!
The movie has a little bit of everything: forbidden sexuality, stunning visuality, evil Artificial Intelligence, etc.
But I would like this movie to be funnier. Probably, Hollywood can make a better remake!
Jurassic World (2015)
Great movie!
I think it is nearly as good as Jurassic Park 1.
But it has more funny moments which I enjoy so much!
I will watch some of its episodes many times.
Most of the actors are great!
I like the dinosaurs too - except the most evil one...
Arlo the Alligator Boy (2021)
For those who love great music and amazing singing!
The music and singing are really amazing!
A lot of humor and some sadness.
Will be re-watching the episodes with songs many times!
Even some Disney movies do not have such great songs.
Downsizing (2017)
Wow! movie
One of the Wow! Movies for me. The script is very original, it has a lot of humor and sadness.
But I did not like the end of the movie - too dark.
Sideways is also a humor and sadness movie, but gives some light at the end.
Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood (2019)
Genius !
Genius mood, genius movie ! I am half-Italian myself.
Long Live Quentin Tarantino !
Hubie Halloween (2020)
At last !
At last I keep watching again an upkeeping, kind, badass comedy which is similar to Adam Sandler's early comedies like Water boy, Happy Guilmore, Big Daddy, etc.
Did not like the last third of the movie though. The jokes were not quite funny.
But, please, continue making such great comedies! The more, the better.
How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000)
Grinch vs Grinch
Re-watched both movies (with Jim Carrey and the 2018 cartoon) this evening. Both movies are great! But both have their drawbacks. If the drawbacks could have been eliminated, the rating would be not 6.2, but 8.9.
The Jim Carrey movie is a bit ruined by his mask. The mask is too ugly, it should have been more friendly. At the same time, the girl (Cindy Lou) was very well filmed. And in general, the film has a huge potential (Jim Carrey is brilliant; everything is filmed in great detail, amazing) !
In the cartoon version of 2018 we see a lot of sun, the Christmas mood, beautiful northern landscapes; dog Max looks very cute, but the girl (Cindy Lou) is not as good as in the Grinch 2000 movie; and so on.
In short, sometimes before the creation of a masterpiece (in the name of Art !), just some additional improvements are needed! (In my humble opinion : )
Edge of Darkness (2010)
An excellent remake
This is a very good movie. But it can spoil your mood, because there is so much darkness and violence in it. At the end of the movie I was on the verge of crying. Mel Gibson was great. The filmmaking team did a great job!
Hall Pass (2011)
A lot of sympathy
Long Live the Farelly brothers! Dumb And Dumber is Classic! Hall Pass is like Eisenstein's Potyomkin Battle Ship movie: you are human beings - you have to battle for your human being! You have to love (and you will) your freedom, your kids, your wife, your friends (even if they are losers). We are all Dumb - sometimes. But the Farelly Brothers are Dumber!!! Also, I would like to send my respect to those guys for other excellent endeavours (Me ... and Irene, . KingPin, Breakheart Kid). I am always waiting for their performance. Holliw... is not always bad!
Yes, but... no... "Something about Mary" was spoiled by the "Hair Conditioner" episode. Guys, please do not do this again. But your music "collection" is always excellent!!!
Open Water (2003)
'Masterpiece' of marketing, but also of dangerous playing SPOILER
I think that the film is rather average and not worth the money it earned. But there are two outstanding things about 'Open Water'. First, the unexpected final action of the girl (I saw in the theater that what she had done left many people with silly and non-understanding smiles on their faces). Second, how did the film people manage to earn so much money?! After we read the true story, we understand that nobody knows what happened to that Australian couple. So, the authors of the film decide: if we show the most probable end the death of the couple because of sharks, fatigue, cold or hunger/thirst (or their rescue), then the film will become rather ordinary, or too expensive to shoot. But an 'unexpected' twist at the end will give the film such an 'it's a surprise' message that, certainly, the audience will be confused, maybe shocked, or even outraged, which will make our film commercial. Thus, I think this film is a 'masterpiece' of marketing, but also of dangerous playing with such notions as 'immortality of human soul', 'suicide', 'love to God and people'.
Actually, I have just tried to understand what the critics liked about the film, and also I want to criticize them and the film authors for it for laying out such a trap for us, the audience.
