Cannery Row (1982)
Great Movie!
Excellent commentary, very well done. If you liked A Christmas Story type of movie, you'll like this one! All the characters are great - the movie runs along at a good clip with nothing getting stale. There's just one thing after another here. If it's not mack and the boys and their shenanigans it's the relationship with Nolte and Winger, and if it's not that it's a party that goes haywire. I love it. By the end of the movie I was wishing to live at Cannery Row! Now if someone in the US would just WAKE UP and get this into DVD region 1 format, we'd have it made! I just don't understand why it hasn't been done yet with all the other movies now back on DVD.

Big Movie, Simple Storyline
If you just want a simple, yet engrossing movie for a rainy Sunday afternoon while drinking your Rolling Rock and not have to worry about leaving the room for a few minutes and come back and wonder "...what the heck is going' on now...?" - then this is for you. Actually, it's a great flick anytime of the day and with an excellent cast (my favorite character is Joe)it is really worth the time to view! It's one of those "sleeper films" like Sling Blade that you don't hear much, if anything, about when it comes out but makes a big splash with you once you run across it. The only problem with this movie is its length. It was over before I though it should have been! I was sitting there thinking "That's it? Naaaaw, ya' can't end it now!" It's one of those movies that I felt I could have watched an additional 30 minutes or so - Joe clinging to Fin for a friendship, Olivia finally picking up the pieces from her past and really accelerating with her life and all the while Fin would juggle his privacy between the two. Oh well, it's well worthy of a looksie for what it offers, and offers it well at that.
Makes me want to move back to Jersey again.
