The Devil's Own (1997)
The accent thing... (again)
I've read a few of the fan reviews, and some I agree with while some I don't. But that just the way things go yeh?! Either way, my take on Brad Pitts accent is this...it's not too bad. It's not perfect, but I've heard worse. He's not native to this way of speaking, so even though he's an actor, allowances can and will be made. He hits the accent almost perfectly with some things, and at other times, a certain way he says a word or sentence reminds me of the movie "Meet Joe Black" when he was doing the Jamaican accent in the hospital. The thing with accents is, it seems to be ALL in how the listener perceives it. If I may break topic with this movie for a mo to illustrate? In the TV show ANGEL, the character 'Doyle', played by Glenn Quinn, spoke with an Irish accent. It was said, in SEVERAL posts, that his accent was FORCED. That it sounded fake. Thing of it is see, he was born in Dublin!! First 18 years of his life were spent in Ireland! So the way I see it, if Brads' accent wasn't "perfect", as SOME people think it should have been, well...TOUGH! Even those who are FROM Ireland get shat on for not having a "proper" accent! There is simply no pleasing all people. If you like it? Great! If you don't? Get OVER it!!
X-Men: The Last Stand (2006)
Rox the box!

This movie rocked! Wolverine Rocks, as usual! Mystique was cool! The new guy Warren III aka Angel was great too! And the Juggernaut, was sweet!
The ending part after the credits that i found, indicated that they are going to make a fourth! X-Men, and they better! These X-Men movies rock and they can not ever stop makng them! I am sure i speak for most people when i say that!
I would say that my favorite part of this breath-taking film would be when Phoenix arrived, and she joined the brotherhood, and they all had this big, epic battle in the end about "the cure" Humans and the good guys vs. The Brotherhood!
This film was a very great movie and hope to see more like it!
Date Movie (2006)
Haven't seen this yet, would like some help
If I might be so bold, what are the ages of the people who watched and commented on this movie? And the fact that you liked/disliked it aside, what ago would you NOT let watch this? I ask because I haven't seen it, and my house-mates husband rented it for his kids, and mine want to watch as well. Thoughts? Comments? Concerns? I'm looking for intelligent, factual reasonings here, by the by. Not the simple (and biased) "I hated it! It's crap! You'd have to be stupid to watch this garbage!" If that's what you think about the movie, then that's fine. There are movies that I hate, that I think aren't even worth the film that their printed on. BUT!! I am also aware that there might be someone out there that might like it. So what I would like, as I said, is to know how old you are, what you thought and why, and how young do you think is too young to watch this (and why. strong language, nudity, mature themes, or what-have-you) Any input would be greatly appreciated.
The Severed Arm (1973)
I've seen worse...MUCH worse
Over all, if you take into account the year it was made, this movie wasn't too bad. I have seen movies much newer that were much, much worse. I mean, it's not nasty gory, or heart-in-your-throat scary, but it has it's moments. There's plotting, a bit of blood, and some hack-and-slash. And as avid a horror movie watcher I am, I STILL didn't see the 'brother' angle coming. The only part I didn't like, was the ending. I mean, they got the last guy, he's locked in a room with a knife. For poetic justice, his options are either cut off his own arm or starve to death. And THAT'S where they end it!! Blasted cliffhangers!! I hate it when movies do that.. It's just...wrong!!
Way of the Vampire (2005)
Gah!
(I don't think this contains spoilers, but if it does,it wan't intentional, and I'm sorry.)
I just rented this movie. Thinking that, ya know..Vampire movie..Bram Stoker..BRING IT! After "Bram Stokers' Dracula" in 1992, I figured "Bram Stokers' Way Of The Vampire" should measure up to the same high standards right? RIGHT?? Uh..no! We started watching it, had to jack the sound WAYYYY up to even HEAR it, and then my roommate tells me that we've rented it before!! HUH? This is a VAMPIRE movie! Something I LIVE for! And I don't remember it? Can I just say..you know it's bad when...! Unfortunately, like most movies you don't initially like, it DIDN'T get better the second time around! The sound was terrible. The acting was either non existent or over blown. (with maybe one or two exceptions) The vampiric dialog? All I could think was who wrote this UTTER rot?! The rest of the dialog was ranging from maybe OK, to weak, to downright SAD!
I checked out the actors on the database, (this one, as I've found no other better as of yet) like I do for almost all movies I watch, and found that this movie was either a jumping point for brand new actors, a fill in for trying-but-not-quite-making-it actors, or a last ditch effort for dieing actors from a third rate soap opera! The nudity was OK I guess. There was T&A to be seen. And it was nice, as far as nudity goes. But like EVERY movie not a hard core porn, for some reason it's OK for a woman to go Full Monty, but a man? *gasp* SHOCKING! And simply NOT DONE! And it's not even that I WANT to see some guys dangly bits! That's not the point! (seen one you've seen em all) MY beef is that they won't SHOW them. That it's OK to bare a girl but not a boy.
Perhaps I've wandered off the path. Slightly. A bit? OK maybe a LOT! *snickers* I had a point I'm sure! Now where did I put it...*checks pockets* Ah yes..On the whole? This movie was very disappointing. A rather black mark on vampire movies as a whole, and NO credit to Bram Stoker what-so-ever. If it had been slightly worse, it wouldn't have been worth the film it was printed on. I know I've seen worse, but Way Of The Vampire was high up there in the "WHY did I rent this" stakes. In short? And pun intended... It sucked!
