Healing Hands (2017)
Healing Hands Healing Feet, Transforming Lives
Healing Hands is a is a beautiful, engaging, and multifaceted film that captures the impact a medical mission has in the lives of patients while also maintaining their dignity. While many people in developed countries are unfamiliar with conditions such as Club Foot, Healing Hands shows the degree the condition disables an individual and the impact it has on their families. In addition Director May Yam addresses the profound impact the mission has on the medical staff/volunteers. A great film about an important mission.
Adam-12: The Search (1971)
Malloy Joined the Splenectomy Club.
I was 9 and remember watching with my father and thinking there was no way Malloy could survive the crash. In the episode he radioed he had a ruptured spleen. I had my spleen removed a few years earlier so I thought Pete and I had something in common.
Diving Normal (2013)
Diving Normal is Deep
Diving Normal is deeper than some viewers perceive. For those in the special needs community, it is a touching film about what true inclusion is about, that those with special needs have a purpose and ability to live beyond their label. Krisjan Thor's direction, Philipp Karner's, Scotty Crowe's and Ashlin Halfnight's script, and Crowe's and Susie Abromeit's performances make this a subtle and engaging film for those with patience and eyes to see. Some will compare and determine this film a poor man's Rainman, with a less famous cast. But, as Rainman introduced many to the challenging world of autism, Diving Deep likewise opens eyes to the ultimate hope of those with special needs and their families,to be truly accepted for who they are and what they offer, not for what they lack or how they live life with an asterisk and label. If you get the opportunity, wade into the water.
