Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
Worth the Wait!
Pretty much perfect in every way. Great story (suspend your belief meter on the fact that the mission could have been done by missiles or drones rather than fighter jets),, great action, great integration with the original, incredible flying and cinematography. If there is justice in the universe Cruise will get a ln Oscar for it and we won't need to wait for the inevitable Lifetime Achievement award.
You Were Never Really Here (2017)
Brilliant.
It's a masterpiece of filmmaking. Not for everyone but for those that appreciate the crafts of writing, acting, directing and cinematography I don't know how you could be disappointed in this film. Yes, it is slow, but it is well worth the effort. Don't watch it as an action movie. Watch it as a piece of cinematic art.
Whiplash (2014)
The Line
"Genius". How many have been lost throughout time because they weren't recognized, nurtured, pushed, given the necessary freedom.... Whiplash asks that question. And then, the necessary corollary, "How far is too far?" There is no way of answering either question because every case is different. But through the story in Whiplash we see both ends of the spectrum: From the waste of genius unrealized to the pain and loss resulting from genius being mishandled. It makes you appreciate genius realized even more. And just an opinion - while J. K. Simmons deserved every award he received for his portrayal of Fletcher, Miles Teller was absolutely incredible in the role of Andrew. The two perfectly complemented each other.
Stowaway (2021)
Up? Down? Both? Neither?
Ummmmm, if there is no gravity, why is it so damn hard to climb that cable?
The Rolling Stones Olé, Olé, Olé!: A Trip Across Latin America (2016)
The Greatest Rock & Roll Band Proves It!
What a fun video. Seeing how much the Stones mean to their millions of fans in Latin/South America was just terrific. It was especially cool to see them in Argentina with their "Rollingas". And finishing up in front of 500k fans at their free concert in Havana was a perfect ending.
The Santa Clause (1994)
6.5???
You are a Grinch of you don't like this movie. A true Christmas classic.
Rush (2013)
Phenomenal
Great story. Great acting. Great directing. Great cinematography. Great music. Great Great Great movie.
The Queen's Gambit (2020)
Ìncredible. Absolutely incredible.
Without question one of the finest shows I have ever watched. The story, character development, acting, directing, costume, music, everything, near perfection.
The Upside (2017)
What!
I can't even begin to comprehend how this movie has a 6.9 rating. Without question one of the best feel good movies ever. If you liked Green Book you'll love this. And vice versa. I'm not even going to read the other reviews because anything less than a ten is whack.
Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood (2019)
You're a good friend, Cliff
02:24:00 - 02:39:00. Best fifteen minutes of film ever. If only it had really happened that way.
