A bit silly, bad cgi, but conclusive I guess...
26 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Just another rushed mcu series finale unfortunately.

On one hand it's really action packed, conclusive, fast paced ,... but on the other hand: Silly, absurd, rushed, cheap writing and bad cgi. Did Guardians take up all the good cgi or what's happening? Every time we watch an mcu project we have to pray and hope for decent special effects.

The fight feels really silly for me. Like someone just wrote it in last minute to have a "cool" end-battle. That's how these shows always end.

Again; not terrible, just out of tone with the rest of the series in my opinion.

We do have some answers and conclusions. Emilia Clarkes character is probably gonna be very important going forward. Don Cheadle was great as skrull Rhody and now the real one is back, it sets up nicely for Armor Wars.

I guess I'm kinda hyped for these things but hope going forward these shows with incredible potential aren't as rushed.

FUBAR: Take Your Daughter to Work Day (2023)
Season 1, Episode 1
An insult to Belgium
30 May 2023
I saw another review heavily downvoted for saying something about the languages. Let me clarify.

Not all people in Belgium speak OR dutch OR french. There is a german speaking part in Belgium too. Very small but it's there. Belgians are also very capable of speaking English. But! It doesn't make sense for the scene to take place in Antwerp and then the dealer guy and Arnold not speaking dutch. They try to make the scene believable by having Arnold 'attempt' some dutch in the car. I say attempt because that sounded NOTHING like dutch. I couldn't even make out words. I know german and that wasn't it. The languages sound alike, but for someone who speaks either or both, it's a huge difference. They should have made the dealer guy speaks dutch (which makes sense because that's what people speak in Antwerp) or just English. A missed opportunity to make the scene believable.

As a Belgian, it was fun to see Antwerp in a big production series with Arnold. But there was no effort put into the actors speaking dutch that was not terrible and could understand. I really think they used google translate and just made the actors listen to that.

I agree with the other review that this is quite insulting. But it's not important to the show or anyone watching that doesn't speak it. So it's not important but makes a viewer from here really confused and it's hard to watch.

An interesting idea, but ultimately a terrible film.
7 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Before I get into spoilers, just a quick word: I love a lot of M. Night Shyamalans work. The horror, the excitement and the twist at the end always made me want to watch his movies.

However, not all of them and unfortunately I think this is his worst one.

There is a great idea there. 4 strangers have visions and they think if the family at the cabin doesn't sacrifice one of their own, the world will perish. In the beginning, it's quite interesting to see the family deal with this and how they react to that information and witness murder before their eyes. If the family doesn't sacrifice one of them in time, they start realising plagues into the world.

This is where it stops being "ok" for me. As a viewer, I started making up twists of my own. I was thinking maybe it was a suicide cult and some sort of scam to make them hurt each other. Maybe RedWood (O'Bannon) made this all up or planned this thing. Maybe one of the family members is in on it.

The movie keeps the audience (or me at least) guessing. But why? THERE IS NO TWIST.

Everything they said would happen, happend. It just makes for and ending that falls flat and made me leave the theater with a sore taste.

A positive for me is that all the actors did a great job. The kid who played Wen was amazing for her age. Once again this movie proved Dave Bautista is a great actor, he did fantastic.

The magic of the sixth sense is nowhere to be found in this movie, it's a story that' starts out mildly interesting but falls flat, way before the movie ended. Too bad.

Better Call Saul: Nippy (2022)
Season 6, Episode 10
This is not gonna go the way you think it is
26 July 2022
A lot of people will hate this episode. I'm reading 'filler' 'the fly of better call saul'. I think the issue is, that we just finished the BCS timeline. Major deaths and important plot points. And when it's time for Gene, it's too slow and different from the rest.

If this was released as the first episode of season 6, people would think 'Wow! Amazing episode, intriguing, mysterious, Gene is back! Etc. Also, they teased Walt and Jesse would be coming back for "a few episodes". The show is coming to an end. People were hyped for 2 iconic characters. Not this week tho.

Well, now we know what Gene has been up to, that he's still Saul and the question remains; What will his fate turn out to be?

I don't mind this episode. Wish they released this one sooner. Or had episode 11 aired as well tonight. I get the frustration, but a solid episode that answers some questions. Sets up nicely for the Gene timeline too.

I thought it was great. Not perfect, but great.

Yes it's more like a comedy. But I enjoyed it all. It doesn't always work, but most of the time it does.

The movie is the same formula as Ragnarok. So just action and jokes, combined with serious moments.

If you liked ragnarok, you'll like this. If you didn't, you'll probably hate this. I'm excited to see what's next for thor.

Hollywood does it right!
3 June 2022
What more need be said? A blockbuster that doesn't suck and is original? It can be done!

The positive. Let me start by saying that that was an amazing theatrical experience. The action scenes made it epic and they were so realistic. It was like I was there. Honestly couldn't tell it was green screen or CGI or whatnot.

To see Tom Cruise on the big screen is always a pleasure. He's mostly known for doing his own stunts, but we mustn't forget what a great actor he is. That counts for the whole cast, everyone was amazing. Even the smaller characters had great acting.

The characters, amazingly written. You want to root for these characters. At the same time, they all have some type of pain. Some element in their personality or past that doesn't make any of the characters one-dimensional. Makes them interesting. They grow, evolve, change.

The story is good and easy to understand. There is a mission. Mav has to train the best pilots to prepare them for the mission. They go on the mission. Quite easy, but everything that happens in between is integral to the succes or failure of that mission.

The callbacks, the oneliners, the flashbacks, the action,... I can go on but it all just works.

Yes, there are some 'negative' elements but don't worry, it's not a lot. As I said the movie is original, but some cliché's still sneak through. Some plotpoints happen to make the story fit and in some degree, the story is quite predictable. But that's the HollyWood formula right? It's worked for them over the years and it works for them now.

Amazing film and a great experience altogether. Go see it!

Nothing makes sense, enjoy?
10 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The only thing I can say is that the action scenes are entertaining af (if you ignore everything you ever knew about the laws of nature). You've got an amazing cast with amazing chemistry and about everyone plays their roles very well.

That's about it for the good stuff..

This movie for me is an example of "if it makes money, ...". How are you gonna make Dom's motivation for everything "family" but it took 9 movies to mention his brother. That's the plot we're going with I guess.

There are a lot of inconsistencies. Lazy writing. We've got magnets tech in this film now (okay?) but it only works in ways that are convenient for the plot. Sometimes it pulls everything metal, sometimes just 1 car and ignoring everything else. It's too obvious.

Roman basicly admits they're in a movie. He literally says "how is this possible, all those insane missions, but never a scar, not even a scratch". Bruh how the writers not thinking that it makes all the action scenes pointless because there are no consequences whatsoever. Everyone lives. They all got 2-3 lives in em.

Speaking about having no actual consequences. Han is back. They create this insane story about how and why he survived, where he is, what's his motivation, where's he been and still manage to fail to explain how he actually survived that crash or how he's still alive. Was that a fake scene of him in the previous film? Because we actually see Han die. Crazy writing. Laughable. Han also says when they faked the whole thing that it's "like a magic trick". (Movie laughing at itself)

They don't pay off the tease of the rich and powerfull father of Otto.

They're in space now. Yep. Rom and Tej just fly a car with a rocket attached to it like some space shuttle and crash it into a satellite. (They survive somehow)

Look, I'm not harsh. I should be but it's a 5/10 for me. Enjoyment means a lot. I enjoy those insane over the top action scenes and funny dialogues between these characters we've know for so long. Doesn't make for a good movie, but an entertaining one? Yeah for some people.

Wow wow wow, but....
22 March 2020
I enjoyed this film. I think everyone who sees it is exited to know what's coming next, why all this is happening and for most of the movie we get some answers, little pieces of information and even a few flashbacks. However this is nog enough to end on a high note. The film ends in confusion, rather than in conclusion.

Glass (2019)
5/10
Truthfully bad
17 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I don't write many reviews, especially bad ones. But I'm going to make an exeption for this monstrosity of a movie.

I went to see it last night with my best mate and an hour into the film... nothing happens. You basicly get introduced to characters you allready know. This makes this movie so boring and dull. The storyline was pure dogfarts so I was waiting for some good old action. Nope. You get James McAvoy turning into the most pathetic version of the Hulk a couple of times. David Dunn is such a waste of a character in this movie. He didnt get any sort of revelation, where as Mr Glass did. But there were too many plotholes in his evil schemes. And God don't get me started on the end. They go for the "evil society" plot twist. And try to go for some millenial bs exposure on social media. When a movie is bad, the least you expect is to end on a high. But the only high was when the credits started to roll.

Really solid movie
19 July 2018
Just an overal good movie. The story could have been a bit better and the villans were not Thanos-level but it just does the job. I wanted more actually, because the CGI was really good. Also this is one of the funniest mcu movies, so if you want a good laugh I recommend this.

I applaud Paul Rudd and Micheal Douglas, great performance!

If you're a marvel fan this will satisfy you 100% and even if you just want to relax and enjoy this movie with the family, that's cool too.

It's kind off not really tied to the rest of the mcu, just as the first one, only captain America civil war a bit. Make sure u stay for the first post credit scene!
