Life (2017)
Lacking in logic
It's sort of an Alien rip off. The acting is reasonably good. Lots of known names. The ship effects seem realistic (in a sci-fi way). So entertaining overall. But the plot!
The chief scientist is poking at the life form. Why would you do this if it's been proven to have life and clear mobility. Next a crew member violates quarantine to get the scientist out of the chamber. Why threaten everyone? He then tries to kill it w a flame thrower. Cool but it's been living on a planet w no major atmosphere so its adjusted to extreme hot and cold. It then escapes into halogen fire suppression system. How is this in any way connected to the rest of the ship. It can get into the tanks and then that's it. It gets outside through a vent, really. Ok. Then they're worried it will get in through jet thrusters. How cld these be connected to the inner atmosphere? ... I have a few problems.
Don't Worry Darling (2022)
Good acting, but weak production and story.
Although the movie felt polished in some regards there were many weak points. Modern cameras and lighting can make even cheap productions look good. The acting was mostly well done. But... The story seems based on old 1950's sci-fi concepts and thus dated. Many movies have told the same story. Stepford Wives the most obvious. It then just ran out of steam and ended once enough screen time to sell the move had elapsed. Next, although polished in look and feel it had the odd problem of the dialog being fairly loud at one point followed by very quiet the next, making it hard to hear. Even the closing credits scenes seemed to lack any interesting ideas left. My guess is these had to do with weak directing, it putting the movie as a whole together.
Overall it was somewhat interesting but nothing you would want to watch twice.
The Gray Man (2022)
Lack of substance
Good special effects, weak script, unbelievable conversations, poor directing. Typical Netflix. Good filming style, lack of any substance in story, script, directing and acting. Note poor directing may make acting look poor.
Zeros and Ones (2021)
Stuck in the city.
Feels like written and directed by a guy who's never been outside of a city. Everything is city and night based. People don't know each other in any depth. Just other people in the city, other apartments. No real tangible plot or point. Just a high school level film experiment.
Monsters of Man (2020)
Mediocre film.
Interesting story idea, reasonable special effects and filming style, poor script and port acting.
Death Kiss (2018)
Cheap rip off of Death Wish
Truly a cheaper Death Wish. Lead actor looks like Bronson. All acting on mediocre side. Filming style on cheap side....
