Animal (I) (2023)

3.5 hours of my life I'll never get back
8 December 2023
The only animal in this movie are the makers of the movie who didn't have the intelligence of humans. It was as if five different people imagined some of the scenes that were supposed to be in the movie then an entirely different person wrote the story stitching together those scenes over a tea break. Watch a paint dry instead of this abomination.

Forget people who are talking about misogyny and political statements, I mean there are better reasons not to watch this movie and the reason is that it makes no sense whatsoever. Ten years old write better stories than this. Action scene sucks, characters have no development, villains are introduced and killed every five minutes, heck even some characters have no roles in the plot at all.

What's with the dialogs sounding dubbed?
31 August 2019
The movie isn't bad, in fact the action scenes are really good. Stable camera, wide shots instead of thousands of cuts between action, you can really feel the hits. What puts me off is the way dialogs in this movie sounds, specially from the protagonist. She sounds like someone has done a bad dubbing of her voice in the movie. I watched it in netflix so I don't know if thats the original sound or compression screwed it up but that whole thing really put the movie in a bad spot for me.

What's wrong with the sound?
28 August 2019
The sounds editing and dialogs seem disconnected with the scenes. As if everything is a bad dubbed version of the movie. The way dialogs are spoken, and the way sound stage is setup, is way off from what the eye see, its as if everyone has their own mic attached to them or the sounds are post recorded in a studio and mixed with the visuals. Maybe it would be bearable with a low end headphones as I dont see anyone complaining about the sound in the review but if you are planning on watching it with a studio grade headphones, please don't. The whole experience is spoiled by the way sound is mixed.

The background sounds effects are awful
12 September 2018
The movie itself could or could not have been good but I don't think I would be able to watch this movie till the end because the sound effects and tracks seems like they were made by someone in kindergarten playing with an electronic keyboard. It's just awful, I wouldn't insult over the top music by calling it that, its plain and simple so terrible that it makes the movie unwatchable.

Is this an attempt at comedy?
25 December 2016
Was this an attempt at comedy? I am appalled by the review given for this movie. So a body comes into the morgue and weird things starts happening, now that's not some subtle weirdness, it's dead people walking, weirdness but the reaction of the two characters to the phenomenon is absolutely casual. Their expressions just simply doesn't match with the music and atmosphere and it looks like a very bad attempt at comedy. This movie is neither a good horror movie, neither a good comedy movie. I have never seen such bad script and acting in a movie with such a high rating. Give me back my 1 hour and 26 minutes back, IMDb. My advice? Don't watch it, unless you wanna laugh at some poorly made movie.

Not bad, just disappointing if you saw the first one.
4 December 2016
The first movie in the series was amazing. I gave it one of the highest ratings in all of action movies I have ever watched. Also I don't really watch a lot of action movies, I started watching it because I was in mood for a fast paced film on a boring Sunday evening. I am going to be short here and sum it up as this movie is a generic action movie, meaning there is a plot in the background and a lot of action for the sake of it. It lacks the stoic characters, the seriousness and a well written plot of the first movie. It is something you can enjoy when you are bored, but not something you want to watch when you are in mood for a good movie. It might have deserved a 6 had I not watched the first one or if it was an unrelated movie.

Good story, good acting, tries to hard to be artsy
4 December 2016
I would start with writing that I was in mood for a fast paced movie last night, yet not something that does not have a plot and just mindless action or generic thriller. And I have to say its not easy to find one. This movie was waiting in my watchlist for some time now and I thought what better time to watch it. Fast forward in the movie, it start off really strangely with no dialogues and weird unrelated scenes in what seemed like an eternity. I thought it was one of those art movies that uses weird camera angles and lights to bore watchers to death. But I was sure in for a surprise when the movie started picking up pace. Character development is a key thing in the movie and ended with a bang. Why not rate it higher then? The movie tries really hard to give itself the benefit of an "art film" by dragging scenes and stuff where it isn't required and serves no purpose whatsoever other than make the viewer want to fast forward. It could have been a better movie with over 30 minutes of it erased.

Errrr?

Warning: Spoilers
Really like what did I just watch? "A God is 10, and you are nine"!! The concept was interesting, Reynolds failed to deliver and so did the scriptwriters. I found the movie dragging the whole thing way too long. It could easily have been a short film of 15 minutes and I think that would have been more interesting as half of the movie isn't even connected to the plot anyway. Ryan Reynolds have come a long way since this movie as I watched his recent performances in Buried and Deadpool.

I gave this a four star rating because the concept was interesting and as a video game designer and artist I can relate to the fact that creating a world inside a computer and working on it and making rules for that world, does feel like a little God. So yeah that concept is interesting in some ways.

Problems with the plot
23 July 2015
Warning: Spoilers
The movie has three large animals, two radiation absorbing organism and one big godzilla. In the whole movie I didn't understand why godzilla was regarded as the hero. The only problem with all of these organism is their size which causes a lot of damage to the life and property when they move about. Except for that neither have any in born enmity for the humans and one of the benefit of the two MUTO (radiation absorbing organism) is that they can absorb radiations. Think of them being genetically re-engineered to be small and left to feed on radiation of old power plants and leakage sites.

Anyway the godzilla still seems to be the hero by killing the two monsters and destroying more city in the process than those MUTOs ever did.
