Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn (2020)
Did I watch a different movie?
This was literally the same quality as Suicide Squad. Action was very well done. Acting, dialogue, story, and pretty much everything else was really hard to watch.
The 700 Club (1966)
Repulsive fear mongering
As a Muslim in America, this was one of my first impressions of the US, because it was one of the first things I ever saw on tv here. I was told to hate myself and my people because we were all terrorists and the root of all evil. Never been more infuriated watching TV in my life.
Ahwak (2015)
Is the Movie Over Yet?
Can be summed up as First World Problems: The Movie. How is Tamer Hosny still famous? Though I liked Ghada Adel, the movie overall was extremely cheesy and predictable. At many times it was cringe worthy. The movie was also way too vulgar for my taste. All about trying to get in bed with a woman, drinking together, and living the party life together. Yet, where was the dilemma in this movie? It was hard to sympathize with the characters when they have perfect lives filled with first world problems. The movie was though to sit through and it's a shame how downhill Egyptian cinema is has gone since the revolution started.
The Intern (2015)
Promising Movie with a Terrible Ending
The movie started off well. Robert DeNiro played a calm role he'd never played before (whereas his previous roles were all either mobster or angry father). Robert DeNiro was incredibly charming and his chemistry with Anne Hathaway was perfect. The next part of this review is where the spoilers come in.
First problem was nothing was resolved: The intern is still living with DeNiro, we never find out if Jason and Becky end up together, they go nowhere with DeNiro's admirer, we don't find out where his relationship gets with the Masseuse, we don't know if Anne Hathaway made the right choice about her company in the end.
The second, and much BIGGER problem: this movie is a life lesson that as long as a man cheats on you, it's OK as long as he apologizes and says he loves you. I expected her to tell him no and end up falling with the new CEO or something. Hell, I would have even accepted her just sticking it out with DeNiro in the end. They go with the absolute worse possible ending, making the cheater forgiven, and having them "live happily ever after."... you know... until he cheats on her again and the family is torn apart.
