Hitler's Most Wanted (2019)
Hmmmm
Interesting but nothing here that hasn't been in other shows in the past. The interview footage looks like they forgot to or didn't bother to color correct it. The host adds nothing to the on-screen dialog other that tiny chunks of his own emotional thoughts or to ask questions to others that know more than he does. He doesn't need to be on screen. Love in episode one they kept questions in that he asked where the expert answered "No one knows" twice rather than putting in questions that would actually provide interesting answers. The card think is a dumb gimmick. Do we really need to rank from worst to best?
It's not horrible but could have been done way better.
In the second episode they show a propaganda film shot in the Warsaw ghetto and wonder if it's staged. If they had bothered to research it at all they would know that the actual cameraman was interviewed (and appears for a few frames in the film) and clearly told how the scenes and people were manipulated and staged.
Come on! Do better!
Color correct your footage editors!
Lost Secrets (2019)
Just once
Just once I would like to see one of these sensationalistic psuedo-historical mystery shows hosts lend something to the production value or historical/factual value of a show. This host merely parrots what the experts on the show say while adding an exclaimation at the end like "wow". Meanwhile, during the VO he doesn't hesitate taking credit for what's happening "I'm taking a deep dive" even though it's obvious the producers have called ahead and arranged for the real experts to pull together artifacts or presentations for him to parrot and add his "wow" to. He apparently has a museum but that doesn't mean he has any personality and really, are any of these secrets "lost"?
Dickinson (2019)
Ugh
Hated it within the first 10 minutes. With Emily saying "crap, and then using the pharase "totally" and the introduction of rap music you can see it is a version of the story aimed at tweens. Not for me. Awful trash.. so you have to ask yourself, after reading the reviews here, how did it merit such a high score?
