Casino Royale (2006)
People who doubted Craig were wrong, this film proves that Bond can be blond!!!!
After a dark gritty opening sequence, with two brutal murders, you know you are going to be in for one big roller coaster ride for the rest of the movie. After the opening sequence, and the opening credits end, you get to see Bond on the trail of a Mollaka, a terrorist bomb maker, expertly portrayed by French Free Runner, and "Le Parkour" master, Sebastien Foucan. This non-stop action scene takes you up 200ft high cranes, and through an embassy, with an explosive result. After finding a message on Mollaka's cell phone, Bond heads off to the Bahamas, with a very funny scene involving a Range Rover and car alarms. After following another criminal, Dimitrios to Miami, it soon comes apparent of a planned terrorist attack at the unveiling of a new prototype aircraft at the Miami Airport. With another grand adrenaline rushing action sequence, we head back to the Bahamas and then learn about a high stakes - money is no obstacle - Texas Hold 'Em Poker Game, that is to take place at the Casino Royale in Montenegro. With many more stunt filled action scenes and sequences, involving Bond almost being murdered with a machete on a staircase. We also get to see the weaker side of Bond, with him getting his drink drugged and going into Cardiac Arrest, and him taking an emotional shower with his love interest, Vesper Lynd, again, expertly played by Eva Green. Soon later, James Bond gets captured and tortured by evil villain Le Chiffre, and endures brutal pain, to protect a password. Then with Le Chiffre now out of the way, James Bond, and Vesper Lynd proceed to head off into the sunlight to Venice, Italy. After another fantastically brilliant action scene, Bond finds out about Mr. White, who is virtually unknown in the story at this point, unless you have payed lots and lots of attention to every thing that is going on in the movie so far. After tracking him down, a startling shot to Mr, White's leg rings out of nowhere, and then we see Bond, the hero, standing over him, muttering that famous line "The name's Bond, James Bond." This film could easily not have finished, as it could continue, and may well continue, finding out about the fate of this mysterious character of Mr. White. What ever anyone else's opinion on Daniel Craig being cast as a blond James Bond is each to his own, but I never doubted his performance, and after seeing this film, I still think that Daniel Craig is amazing at portraying the character, and he truly brings Bond back in style!! You walk out of the cinema after watching this film just wanting more of Daniel Craig as Bond, and I truly cannot wait for him to play the character in the next James Bond film as well. Daniel Craig is the new James Bond. Daniel Craig is amazing James Bond!!
Blacktop (2000)
One Hell Of A Ride
Amazing road movie, the story reminds me of such films as Roadkill and Duel (1977, Steven Spielberg) The scene where Meatloaf is going to shoot the girl, but then the mounted police come along and you can see all the dead bodies in the back of the truck is very suspenseful. The ending is absolutely amazing and when the boy finds his girlfriend and Meatloaf has disappeared gets you right on the edge of your seat, and (Warning spoiler:)Meatloaf's death is indeed very gruesome, the bit where the boy takes the shortcut out by the gas station through the woods when the guy at the gas station is lying on the floor dead is very violent as the guy was so 'hacked' up on the floor, and the acting of the boys shock in that scene is amazing, the same as the rest of this film. A must for your collection if you can get hold of it!!!! See this if you like Duel, Roadkill, Jeepers Creepers, The Hitcher, and Wrong Turn. 10/10 Fantastic!!!!
Men in White (1998)
A great film Almost As Funny As 'Men In Black'
I think this movie is a very funny film and one of the best 'National Lampoon's' films, it also has a very catchy spoof title, which basically sums up what the whole movie is about.... Men In White!!!! The story is a spoof of many films including a Will Smith film, as you might have guessed, 'Men In Black'. I will not give the ending away but it has a very good ending in is very funny (Leslie Nielsen style humour) from start to finish, especially the bit near the beginning when thy are in the street collecting the dustbins (Garbage Cans). Also, they have a pretty cool dustbin lorry (Garbage Collecting Truck) in that scene too. The acting is not superb, actually, it is not very good, but that is what makes the film funny, it is a comedy, loosen up!! I love the story line, partly because it is so far fetched and partly because it is interesting to see how subtle (Or should it be Un-subtle) they rip off all the other films. I am great fan of un-serious spoof films, but i am also a fan of the real thing, and with this films, it is hard to decide which is better, the film it mainly rips off (mentioned earlier i this review) or the actual film it is, but also when you are actually making a spoof of comedy films, it actually makes it even harder, but this film carries it off successfully. The two garbage men are so funny, it reminds me of a TV sketch show in the UK called 'Little Britain'. This film is a must for your collection and is one of the best, most entertaining, funniest, best storyline, National Lampoon's film to date!!
