Hook (1991)
The Message is How to Age Gracefully
Hook is one of the most criminally underrated movies of all time.
Just a cool concept and story that is amazingly relatable as I get older. Everyone wants the abilities and youth from their prime, the movie follows Pan as he makes every desperate attempt at reliving the memories of his youth. Even Neverland is seen as a symbol for those who refuse to grow out of their "Glory Days"
Peter pan tries everything but only realizes that his new magic was from his adulthood, becoming a father. Hook though on the other hand, Is wanting nothing but to continue to live in his prime of fighting and battles with Peter Pan...just look at his wigs and admittance to being an old man. Even when given a chance to concede with his honor, he chooses for one last reach at a battle and is ultimately trapped by that attempt and perishes.
The movie has nothing to do with the Story of Peter Pan, it's about realizing that the magic of feeling youthful isn't a fairy tale or distant land, it's about finding the Magic of growing up and maturing.
