The first season is worth watching
27 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The first season started strong. The stories are interesting, with many plot twists and novel cases, and the cast is great. I especially enjoyed watching Detective Adem's character; he's so funny and amusing. However, like many shows, it it went downhill from that as the writing got bad. The team got sloppy touching and stepping on everything in crime scenes. In one scene, a Detective lied next to corpses in the crime scene! Not funny. Detective Adam is no longer in the team without any explanation, and the stories are no longer interesting. So I would highly recommend watching the first season which I would rate 8-9, but not so much for the succeeding one, which barely gets 5-6 from me. I even won't watch the third season.

Warning: Spoilers
For real? It needn't be just like that! Carry said Big has nitrate pills why didn't she give him? Or at least call the ambulance?! Give him CPR instead of kissing him. So lame...

Disappointing
5 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The scene in the beginning of the season, two years from the events depicted in the series, was not elaborated. All events shown in this season were a continuation to the flash back at the first episode.

Nothing significant actually happened in this season. The plot was not tied just to force viewers to watch another season. There is no excuse for this, just bad writing.

Repetitive with many loopholes
2 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The tormented kid who comes back to take his revenge upon those who have hurted him has been repeatedly told before but this time with holes in it. Why the detective didn't question the husband when Nicole told him a woman he knows threatened her? Why didn't anyone ask the mother anout her relationship with Paige? And how did Paige get sentenced over the first two crimes while there was no evidence against her, while the evidence in the third crime was circumstantial at best? So not woth the watch.

Ambiguity explained, a movie worth watching!
10 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The low ratings of the movie probably stem from its ambiguity. It actually illustrates how Kate descends into madness; hence the title. This is alluded to in the beginning when the eye of an older woman reliving the attack of the previous nanny is cut into the eye of Kate, portrayed by Mackenzie Davis, suggesting that they are the same person. The flashback opens with Kurt Cobain's suicide, which occurred in 1994, chronicling young Kate. The scene depicting Kate escaping with the children is imagined, and what truly occurred was the scene shown in the succeeding flashback where the children note that Kate is crazy when she asks them if they've seen ghosts. In the last scene, Kate is horrified when she realizes that it is she who is being held in the asylum, and not her mother. When paused, the figure Kate is frightened by in the pool is simply the woman portrayed by Joely Richardson, her older self in present day. This explains the drawings on the pool wall, of Kate recollecting her horrible experience at the mansion. It is an intriguing psychological, rather than a horror, movie with a twist, worth the watch.

This is how award-winning shows are made

Warning: Spoilers
What may have seemed at first a slow beginning turned out to be ominous to the climactic ending. The uncanny warm goodbye of Serena to her Martha, Serena's suggestion to go without a driver, her farewell look at the past road and the hopeful smile at the future road ahead, the final intimacy act, the guilty and worried look on Serena's face when Tuello asked them to follow him; all indications that Serena anticipated - and probably planned - the fate of her husband. The cinematography was amazing and also served the purpose of foreshadowing the eventful ending. The crossed bridge raised a red flag for me with its clinched fists or teeth-like structure foretelling the Waterfords' faith. Certainly there is that welcome satisfaction with the retribution of Commander Winslow and the shocking cold - efficent handling by the housekeepers on the sounds of Kate Bush's masterpiece, but that has been addressed in other reviews. In short, this was the perfect episode in all regards. Best direction, cinematography, acting, plot and soundtrack.

If you didn't see it, don't!
5 November 2018
Warning: Spoilers
The movie was produced to be picked up by a series but wasn't due to poor performance. Hence, it is truncated and does not constitute an integral movie. The movie climax towards the end and leaves the spectator unsatisfied waiting for a sequel that is not going to be produced.

Disturbing morals
25 January 2018
Warning: Spoilers
A drug lord infects recreational drugs with a deadly virus and blackmails the US President into legalizing the drug trade - from cannabis to heroin - for the antidote. The president would not negotiate with terrorists and sees this as an opportunity to wipe-out the drug trade, yet, he is the villain, since drug users include the president's overburdened secretary, Mr-Channing-Tatum-perfect, and the leading man's close freind and heartbroken girlfriend. After the foul-mouthed hero saves the day, and distributes the antidote to inflicted addicts, the president is impeached for his righteous stand and drug users are happy again. Concede to terrorists, legalize drug trade, and sympathize with drug users, these are the messages behind this sick movie!
