Winter's Tale (2014)
Whoever casted Will Smith for this should be made unemployable.
I like the story, the Film is ok, it's simple enough, most actors are convincing, especially the little one, and Russel Crowe, who truly excelled as Villain. I am not a fan of Collin Farrell, but even he did ok. Then Will Smith came in, as Lucifer, as the devil, and he couldn't scare my three year old niece, not even with the extra teeth. He is likely one of the very worst, overpaid, overestimated actors anywhere. Even the White horse was better. The only reason why his nonperformance did not utterly wreck this film, is that his role was too short, too meaningless for that. Still, any casting professional will, after seeing this, burn the dude's card, and any director, will never work with that casting director who allowed such a dud in his film.
Emily in Paris (2020)
Cliché after cliché, horrible acting, terrible story...
Basically a condescending ignorant AND arrogant way of US Filmmakers saying we would like to send the french Marketing professionals a US midwest college instagram girl without a sliver of personality or cultural understanding. This girl thinks the French have been waiting for her, professionals, Women and Men, all of them. France basically was a boring uneducated, lazy hole b this chick.
No wonder US teens are such badly educated ignorants in the ways of the world, to them there's the US, and the rest of the world ist there to entertain them. Gee..
How this show made an an Emmy nomination is beyond anyone with a clou.
Jupiter Ascending (2015)
Great pictures, good concept, worst of all film endings of all time.
Too bad, the story had real potential, and from the two main characters I expected nothing but that they look pretty, so no disappointment. Eddie Redmayne plays an incredibly evil villain, bravo. Special effects are quite worthy, and the story line acceptable. Then came the ending. The ending with a galactic queen voluntarily cleaning toilets for rich earthworms has nothing to do with kindness or character, but only with boundless stupidity and zero creativity.
The ending left me nothing but angry for having wasted two hours.
Those Who Wish Me Dead (2021)
I should sue the producers for lost time.
The worst film I have seen in some time. Horribly cliché ridden, totally predictable, utterly unrealistic, disturbingly bad acting by Angelina Joly, she must be disgusted by the writing. Why she would agree to do a film with such a bad script, beats me.
Hindenburg: The Last Flight (2011)
Horrible disappointment
Effects are good, and actors do what they can, the director should consider selling shoes, no idea about how people behave naturally, boring facial scenes stretched to infinity... The script is not even worth the title. What a shame.
The Comey Rule (2020)
Essential watching
As far as I (the public) know, a factual, fabulously acted and directed account of what went on in the months before Trump's victory. Jeff Daniels appeared on MSNBC to talk about the show, it's what led me to watch it. To an informed person, the facts are mostly clear. I guess Comey got Trump elected, but not because he wanted to but to save the FBI. Jeff Daniel greatly delivers the inner conflict within James Comey, very believable. Knowing what I know today, the answer to the question, what would I have done, would be to not release the second letter to congress before the election and deal with the fallout. The fallout of releasing it was the worst catastrophe to hit the US in modern History. Surely, Comey must have know about the Trump Russia Connection, and Trump's corrupt character. So I can't help but damning Comey for his decision, but I'm not in his shoes.
The one star ratings are seething with hatred, foul language and conspiracy. These people, 40% of American voters, are delusional paranoids without a single solid argument, running down conspiracy alley, unmoored from reality. Some of them should be placed under legal guardianship and have their voting rights removed, harsh, but isn't that what we do with the certifiably insane? They dismiss accepted facts, the show, the acting, the entertainment, because they feel personally attacked by the truth portrayed. Eventually, what the series reveals, Trump is not the root of the problem, he is the fungus that grows on rotten wood. The US constitution is a doormat now, law and order as well as checks and balances are suspended and society is either complacent and ignorant, or divided with hatred to the point of wanting to murder each other. The healing will take decades. Make sure you start in November, VOTE.
Da 5 Bloods (2020)
Shameless waste of time.
Spike Lee should have let this one pass him by.
Horrible acting, bad script, no message, no direction and a really bad vibe.
It's a shame because the subject is so important, especially now. This film does more damage than anything else.
Zoo (2015)
A sign of the times. Zero intellectual value.
This'll be quick.
This is not science fiction, it's really bad fantasy, and horribly written. Characters are written to behave and think completely out of character or position.
Wildlife experts who are oblivious to wildlife and biology, ridiculous.
All 'animals' getting the same disease is a mad Idea. Plankton is as different genetically from a goose as a wasp from a wolf. Their brains and central nervous systems work completely different from one another. The series tries to make aware of environmental issues, a just cause, like 'I am legend' did, just that was more believable. All this series evidently aims to do, is cash in.
Kudos to the cast, I salute them for not murdering the writers in three years.
I wouldn't even tell this story to mentally challenged children without feeling embarrassed.
No wonder there are people here who eat this up, 40% of US citizens are MAGA cult members, so no surprise here.
A sign of the times. It's not animals who are losing it, humans are.
Berlin Station (2016)
Not worth the time
I have read John Le Carre, this is nothing like John's work.
It doesn't happen often that I quit a series after barely being into episode 2, but this is jaw dropping stupid and boring. If US Intelligence were anything like portrayed here, the US would be in trouble. I don't want to give spoilers, so let it suffice to say, that any normally aware person would have had the perp in the beginning of E02.
Weak dialogues, unrealistic and even weaker plot, and except for Armitage, mostly bad acting.
Three stars may still be two too many.
