Anyone But You (2023)
Funny and cute romantic comedy!
Not sure of why there are negative reviews, if u go to see a rom-com, and get a rom com, how could you be disappointed ? This reminded me of a classic 90's/2k type movie, which I feel the cinemas have been seriously lacking for a very long time, I laughed a lot, and smiled a lot. It's a feel good film, is it Oscar worthy? No, but it is very entertaining, light hearted, and fun. I think everyone could use a little more lightening up now a days. All the negative reviews are maybe disgruntled people who are just unhappy for other reasons. I don't know what they went to the movies thinking they were going to see? But if u go in expecting a funny, romantic movie thats what your going to get ! I thought both leads were great, and had excellent chemistry. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would see this movie again.
Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret. (2023)
Cute girl film
The movie was cute and nostalgic for a simpler time in life as a girl. I thought the whole movie was really well acted and well written, my only complaint is that the ending felt a little rushed and incomplete. I don't feel like there was any resolve to a couple of the major issues that were brought up toward the end between all the parents and the religion stuff. I would've liked to see some kind of compromise made there for them to be able to get along. I also I think it would've been better if we saw Margaret start the next school year after camp, and show that some stuff did change and that she grew and would've liked to also see some of the girls in her friend group change for the better as well. All in all cute movie. Nostalgic for women to remind us how so many things seemed like the end of the world to us at that age. If we only knew then what we know now!
Can You Keep a Secret? (2019)
Very cute & funny movie!
I don't know why this has so many bad reviews. It's not a masterpiece but it's a really cute rom-com, and it's quite funny. It's quirky and the jokes are a weird humor, but I personally really l find that funny. I thought the leads had great chemistry together, & the storyline was cute. Is it a little bit predictable? Yes, but I feel that of any rom-com. I think Tyler Hoechlin is great, I've watched him for years, Alexandra doddario isn't so bad, not the greatest actress of all time, but it works here. If you like this genre, if you like awkwardness and find it funny, if you want to see a nice feel good film, then is for you. Ignore the bad review and give this one a chance!
Dante's Peak (1997)
Great movie!
I don't understand the low ratings for this film! This movie had everything you could want! Suspense, thrill, a romance. I really enjoyed this and I hesitated to watch it at first because of the low imdb rating but i'm really glad I gave it a chance. I thought the special effects were great, the whole film kept me on the edge of my seat. I don't care if things are unrealistic, a movie is supposed to keep you entertained and this one did 1000%. Pierce Brosnan is handsome as ever and I think he's a great actor. I don't really have anything bad to say about this movie at all. Great chemistry between the leads as well. Perfect disaster movie. I would definitely re watch this one.
The Noel Diary (2022)
Meh
This movie was just meh. That's the only way I can describe it. I felt that none of the actors in the movie knew how to act?? (Besides Justin Hartley who did the best he could under the circumstances.) At times, it felt like many of the actors were just going along with it and were forced to film this movie. There was no emotion behind any of the acting.
The plot and the concept was a good idea, I just don't feel it was executed well. Also did not feel there was any emotional, romantic, or sexual
chemistry between the two main leads. Besides that fact, extremely disappointed in the whole cheating situation. I don't see what point there was in even making the main female lead engaged and then have her full on cheat on her significant other who she claims "really loves her". It's really not a great message to send out there to condone that kind of behavior, a kiss would've been one thing but to actually sleep with someone else crossed a line. If she wasn't fully invested in him, or the minute she felt like she wanted to pursue something with the male lead, things should have been broken off with her fiance. And then she just abruptly leaves in the middle of the night, she basically used him for sex. If this were the other way around i'm sure the man would really be frowned upon for that.
The whole movie was about this girl finding her birth mother, and then she just never winds up going to meet up with her. When the male lead does find her, I found her acting to be extremely emotionless and non believable.
The ending was weird and left much to be desired. I just didn't feel any emotion whatsoever between anyone in the cast. A good concept but it could've been done a lot better and with more chemistry between the actors. Big letdown for sure because I really enjoy Justin Hartley.
Disenchanted (2022)
So cute! A very pleasing sequel!
Just as adorable as the first one. It was everything you could want in a sequel to such a wonderful first movie. Brought back a lot of memories! Love that they got the whole cast back. It wouldn't have been the same if they didn't. Great storyline, I love the twist of having the fairytale world come to them. Everyone did such a great job, the music was perfect, it's crazy how none of this cast even looks like they aged much in 15 years (besides the actress who plays Morgan who obviously grew up). I laughed, I teared up, and I smiled a lot. Really rare to find a sequel come about this many years later that can do justice to the original. This one delivered!
Barefoot (2014)
Really sweet film!
Didn't know what to make of this when reading the premise and after just starting the movie but it turned out to be a really sweet romance. The characters are a little odd and the premise is a little strange but the slow burn love between the two was endearing and truly showed two people growing and learning from eachother. The actors had excellent chemistry together as well. Scott speedman is very handsome in this role and even though his character has major flaws and messes up a few times it's nice to see his development into a better person. There are some parts that do feel out of place in such a nice movie, but overall a great watch! Very nice feel good film!
Chained (1934)
Exceeded my expectations
This movie was even better than I expected it to be. The chemistry between Gable and Crawford is unmatched. This movie was surprisingly emotional, I really enjoyed it. Crawford was excellent in portraying the heartbreak her character endured for loving two people but only being In love with one of them. I like movies with happy endings, so this is for sure going down as one of my favorites. My only complaint would be I would've liked to see the main characters reunite in the moment after she ended things with her husband. It jumped ahead to them being back together and married already, however I felt the movie would've benefited from having an emotional reunion of the two of them because their acting and chemistry was so good throughout the film. They are just so good together. The movie did a great job of having you feel for the man she didn't chose, both times! Not sure why this movie doesn't have higher ratings but I feel this is one of Gable's best!
The Hating Game (2021)
Great rom-com!
I don't understand how this doesn't have better reviews. This is a classic style rom-com. The chemistry between the leads was amazing. I loved it I thought it was a really original idea. The lead actor did a great job at playing two kinds of personalities, you really believed him in the beginning that he was this cold-hearted jerk, yet when they got together you realized he was actually the nice guy all along. Very cute very funny. I don't know why people who don't like romantic comedies watch them and expect some emotional drama.. it's a romantic comedy it's supposed to be light hearted and have a happy ending. I loved it - would def watch again!
Legends of the Fall (1994)
Beautiful but tragic film
The movie was beautifully done. The cinematography was really stunning. Wonderful performances by all involved. As beautiful as it was, it was a very sad and tragic film. If you aren't a fan of tearjerkers this one's not for you.
West Side Story (2021)
Bravo! Beautifully well done remake.
I went into this not expecting to like it as much as I did. The original is one of my all time favorites so I was cautious about getting my hopes up for this remake. Turns out, I was extremely impressed. To redo such a classic is always risky, and sometimes it can be a huge disappointment, but not this one. I was blown away at the cinematography, the excellent casting, and the beautiful singing and dancing. The only couple of reasons for not giving 10 stars is because of a couple of slight changes in the song order or who sang what at what point in the movie.. and while beautifully done, the Spanish speaking parts were not subtitled in English. I do understand why the choice was made to do that, however it did make it hard for me to stay "in the movie" during those moments and I wish they had those parts subtitled so I would know what was being said. You get the jist of what they're talking about and are able to understand through the emotion of the actors, (also probably because I know the story so well), however that would've been something I appreciated them doing for any of us who do not speak Spanish. But really aside from those slight critiques, the whole movie was beautifully done. Stayed true to the original for the most part, sounded and looked beautiful, was cast extremely well. It was also nice to see that they made a part for Rita Moreno in this remake. These young actors are all very talented. Can't wait to watch it again.
Love Potion No. 9 (1992)
Such a cute movie!
I don't understand the low rating and bad reviews. This was an adorable silly rom-com. I'm not sure why people would watch a movie like this expecting an Oscar nominated drama. It's light fluff, funny, & great chemistry between the leads. Definitely a feel good comedy. I enjoyed it and would watch again!
Six Days Seven Nights (1998)
Cute Rom-Com!
I don't get the bad reviews. It was a really good romantic comedy. At 56 Harrison Ford still looks great and can do a lot of a great action work. The concept was a cute idea, I think they had really good chemistry. David Schwimmer is so funny. Anyone who's looking for an Oscar worthy script shouldn't be watching romantic comedies lol. Very entertaining and very fun feel-good film!
For Whom the Bell Tolls (1943)
Meh
A little long and winded, unhappy ending - I don't know why a main character always has to die at the end of a romance to try to make it epic. Just okay. Wouldn't watch again.
The Mirror Has Two Faces (1996)
A really cute movie!
I don't understand all the bad reviews! This movie was so cute. A classic rom com. I don't think this movie was making women look bad, he loved her before she had the makeover. That was the whole point. He loved her for who she was, for her mind and personality and it didn't matter how she looked or acted. Great movie, great chemistry with the leads. I loved it.
Reminiscence (2021)
Ignore these bad reviews...
This was a really good movie. Very interesting concept, great acting, great story. I enjoyed it I don't understand all the bad reviews. I guess these people are looking for perfection or looking at technical things, when I watch a movie I look for something entertaining which is what this was. A good watch if you like thinking movies!
Riverdale: Chapter Eighty-Eight: Citizen Lodge (2021)
Great episode but..
Very well done episode but it was pretty much a ripoff of a Bronx tale so it isn't really an original idea, but well done none the less.
The Dressmaker (2015)
Disappointing and cruel
This movie had me going and kind of loving it and it's quirkiness until the last 20 minutes when they killed off the main love interest. And from there it just kept getting worse, then her mom died and a bunch of other townspeople die.. everyone wants to blame the main character. Absolutely bizzare and just really mean. I don't really get what the point of the movie was - kind of a miserable and sad story. Everyone is cruel and rude and extra rediculous for believing a child murdered another kid when everyone else knew that he was a bully when picked on her and others, that was never even brought up. The whole thing is very strange. Extremely disappointed in the ending. Was decent up til the last 20 minutes. After that things just got really weird and they started just killing off characters randomly and it all made no sense. The movie had basically no purpose in the end.
He's All That (2021)
A cute movie!
I really don't get all the hate and bad reviews. Was it corny? Yes! Was it predictable? Yes! But it's a teen rom-com. Every movie like this is corny and predictable lol. I feel like everyone really needs to lighten up and stop being such angry critics. If you're going into this expecting an Oscar winning film then that is your mistake right there. It's a fluff move just meant to make you smile. I thought it was adorable. None of these types of movies have the best or deepest acting skills but it was entertaining and really nicely updated to fit today's social media world. I'm a huge fan of the original and I was anticipating really hating this remake but I have to be honest I totally loved it. Good job on the story! My only critique could possibly be that everything felt a little sped up to fit into the short runtime of the film, but other than that a very cute movie. I will definitely watch this again!
Snowpiercer (2013)
Strange
Truly a bizzare film with really no point to it. Very violent and just totally weird.
Greenland (2020)
It was a great movie for the genre it was
Idk why the bad reviews. It was an apocalyptic thriller- with the way the world is now anything seems plausible. Probably the most realistic end of the world scenario rather than aliens attacking lol. Good film, kept my interest.
King Arthur: Legend of the Sword (2017)
Entertaining movie..
I don't know why this movie tanked at the box office. I thought it was a very entertaining, well done film. Maybe some people didn't like that it strayed from the original storyline but overall if you just watch it as it's own movie it's a lot of fun. Great acting, well paced storyline and a lot of action. Would've loved to see sequels, it's a shame they had to scrap some stuff that would've been part of sequels since it didn't do well at the box office.
Love Finds You in Charm (2015)
Really sweet movie!
I actually really liked this movie a lot! I thought it was gonna be just another hallmark movie but this was different than the others. Of course they're all a little predictable but the whole premise was really nice about finding yourself and being true to who you are. It was really well done, the chemistry is great between the 2 leads. I thought the love story was really sweet and wholesome. Loved it!
The Guest (2014)
Strange ...
Yea... im not sure what to say.. the movie started out good - mysterious quality, Dan Stevens is gorgeous and plays the part well, calm and collected, but you know he's probably actually a bit of a psycho and is hiding something major.. but it seems like he cared about Caleb and really is trying to look out for his family even tho he's obviously on the run for something .. about halfway through you start to question the sense of it all, and then it literally turns into a nonsensical 80's slasher film where there's not even any point in any of it and the acting and entire plot turns into a campy mess... very odd. The ending is totally unrealistic too. Soundtrack is weird.. yea i don't know lol. Very disappointed after about halfway on. I'd say starting halfway through or maybe almost 3/4 of the way through, this could've been such a much better film, if they at least could have kept him continuing to protect the family and not try to kill them all, like maybe truly formed a bond with them even despite the fact that Anna was trying to turn him in. I mean I understand that he was part of an experiment that altered his brain but, he protected them the whole time and then just kills them lol. Would've been better if he was able to breakthrough and truly at least just care about them, and then had the family protect him once the military came for him and like hid him and helped him escape. Could've had more substance but it just went in a different direction. Disappointing to say the least. Not what I was expecting. Expected more of a psychological thriller but got a campy slasher film.
The Healer (2016)
Really uplifting!
I don't know why this movie doesn't have better reviews. It's so cute and uplifting and if you are someone who is faith based then you will really enjoy this. It's all about having faith and believing in something bigger than you are. I loved it. I loved the lead I thought he did a fantastic job. Really heart warming film!
