California Dreaming (1979)
Bings back memories
When our family first got cable this is one of the first movies I watched on HBO. I was 14 or 15 watching an R rated movie and thought it was the coolest thing ever. Nerd from the mid-west trying to fit in with the cool kids. All the cliches are there but worth watching.
The Unholy (2021)
So what if it has been done before
You see that criticism a lot with this move. It has been done before. Well, everything has been done before. If you are not going to see something because it has been done before you will never watch a movie again because all movies are reinventions of the same tropes and stories. The question is were they able to do it again in an interesting well executed way. I think so with this movie. The story was interesting, the cast and acting were good, and the cinematography was great. Overall very entertaining.
House of the Damned (1996)
Not nearly as bad as some claim
All these one star reviews and claims of one of the worst movies ever are not accurate. You can go to the horror category at Netflix and Amazon Prime and 99% of those movies are far worse than this. I am not sure what people were expecting. It does borrow a little from poltergeist but so what? Movies borrow from each other all the time. Put Vincent Price with this same script and that alone would raise it two stars. That is how important acting is with low budget movies like Corman's. 4 to 5 stars is about right for this.
Unknown (2011)
I find it ironic
That in the movie they say progressives are trying to help the poor and end hunger and they go to say how GMO corn is going to help do that and this why a group wants it stopped. Yet in the real world it is progressives that oppose GMOs trying to get them banned all over the world citing bogus studies and false claims that they are linked to cancer. Claims that have been completely debunked. It is progressives that contribute to world hunger and suffering calling for bans of GMOs.
Columbo: Étude in Black (1972)
I would never cheat on Blythe Danner
The only thing about this episode that is unbelievable. The rest is great.
The Clovehitch Killer (2018)
Another cliched killer picture
Why are the only killers in the eyes of Hollywood devout Christians? The cliche is so tired and worn out. Mass killers are always Christians or religious nuts. Do atheists ever kill people? How about agnostics or Buddhists?
Python (2000)
This movie is great
Take it for what it is. A campy horror comedy. It doesn't take itself seriously and neither should you. Great cast and great fun. Take a chill pill for the overly serious and enjoy it.
