Every single thing this episode had going for it in terms of suspense was brilliant. JDM and Andrew Lincoln's performances? Brilliant.
You know what single-handedly ruins all of that? An AWFUL, UNNECESSARY, SEASON-BREAKING CLIFFHANGER.
Way to go and ruin TWD's chance to have its own Red Wedding. This cliffhanger is a joke.
This episode would be rated a nice 9, maybe even 10 if it ended just like the comics. But instead, they cliffhanger it for views. With the cliffhanger, I'd probably give it a 6 or 7/10. This was the first episode besides maybe Too Far Gone to truly rattle me, but they ruined all of that by the time the cliffhanger came in. This episode is still getting a 1/10 because AMC need to know that their executive meddling will not be tolerated. I cannot believe that a comic-faithful showrunner like Gimple, or the man himself who wrote the damn scene would ruin this. It had to be an executive decision from AMC, there's no other way a mistake like this happens.
So disappointing. Hope viewership skyrockets in October! Oh wait, no - with all of this negative press and show-abandoning, I doubt it. The show would've gained more fans if it receives overwhelming positive critique as it would have convinced some people to start watching.
I love this show and this was a brilliant episode that is now one of the show's worst due to that awful, tension- sucking cliffhanger that makes me not care AT ALL who died.
That's AMC for you.
