Sometimes in the world of tennis, there is tension on and off the court.
29 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This is an odyssey of filmmaking, where the timeline jumps around a lot, now that can annoying to watch, but works for this film, cause it shows the story slowly unfolding.

The story takes between the early 2000s and 2024, between a tense love triangle between three tennis players, who are played Zendaya, Mike Faist and Josh O' Conner and winning on and off the court.

The actors play there parts quite well, and times they don't always come across as likable, but honest and human for the most part. The tennis matches are fun and suspenseful, keeps you on the edge of your seat. It's a film I can't bring myself to see again, for me once is enough.

Amusing tale of love, loss, and time travel.
23 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Harriet ( Lucy Boynton ) a woman who is still grieving over the loss of her boyfriend Max ( David Corenswet ), was killed two years ago in a car accident, still having trouble coping, but meets a nice guy named David (Justin H. Min ), and slowly starts to come out of her shell. But soon something else starts to come over on Harriet, she discovers every time she listens to a certain song, it suddenly brings her back to a certain in her life, also with Max. So will Lucy move forward or change the past?

An amusing idea, that unfortunately doesn't do much with it. And David Corenswet has Max, really is just kind of there, I didn't feel we got know his character well enough, and I didn't see myself rooting for him and Boynton. Now Lucy Boynton really was great here as a grieving woman, you really feel for her and want her to be happy, and she and Justin Min had better chemistry, I found myself rooting for them more.

Guy Ritchie Succeeds where Quentin Taratino failed.
22 April 2024
The film is based on a true story, but in movies like this I can say very loosely. I really believe that this true story is mainly the inspiration for The Dirty Dozen(1967).

Set in 1942, a group of misfits, each one with their talent are recruited to stop a bunch of Nazi submarines during World War 2. But will this mission be carried out?

Guy Ritchie brings good action and drama, also a fun aspect here, something I felt Quentin Taratino failed to do with his World War 2 film. The actors Henry Cavil, Alan Richson, Til Schweiger, and Eiza Gonzalez to name a few, really shine here, so does the other cast.

A disturbing look on how are society could be.
16 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Alex Garland directs a masterpiece of society going to war, what we do to survive. A couple of journalists take a trip to D. C. , but getting there will be struggle to stay alive.

It's quite unsettling to sit through, but when the humorous moments come, also great moments. Kirsten Dunst really surprised me here, as a world weary photographer. Caliee Spaeny is great as a young photographer, who's in her twenties, but here looks like a teenager. The environment here is shown here to be like you don't know what is jumping out at you. Jesse Plemons is great in a small role, even though it's not a big role, but leaves quite an impact on you.

Tops the last one.

A group of scientists uncover a mystery about Skull Island, and must unravel it before a situation with Godzilla and Kong get out of hand.

An enjoyable monster verse film, I mean I like the way it tries to humanize Godzilla and Kong, and the effects are always great. But I admire the way the film doesn't spend too much time on Godzilla and Kong, cause Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyler Henry, and Dan Stevens all have there moments to shine, and they are every bit as enjoyable has the monsters. Dan Stevens steals every scene he's in, won't be surprised if he gets his own spin off movie. The monster fights are also great.

Irish Wish (2024)

Amusing by Lindsay Lohan and Ed Speleers charm.
12 April 2024
Irish Wish tries to be in the same vein, has such movies like My Best Friend's Wedding (1997) and Maid of Honor (2008), and it almost gets there to a point.

A magical wish gives Maddie (Lindsay Lohan) an editor, a chance to marry the man of her dreams, but is this life she always wanted?

I enjoyed the view of Ireland, makes you feel like your there, and the chemistry between Lindsay Lohan and Ed Speleers is enjoyable, they just play off each other perfectly, just really click. And both of there charming performances is what keeps the movie interesting. But that's about it, everybody else in the film are just null and void, there kind of there nothing more. Jane Seymour has Lohan's mom, does not bring interest here.

Monkey Man (2024)

John Wick has got nothing on Monkey Man.
8 April 2024
Mysterious young man (Dev Patel) who fights wearing a monkey mask in an underground fight club, but has secret quest for revenge against an organization that took away his childhood, but will he grow through with his mission for revenge?

Dev Patel directorial debut is incredible, shows the dark elements of environment. And acting has the main lead, showing a man whose bubble is going to burst. Fight scenes are awesome and real. And the action comes, it really comes, enough to put others to shame. I really like how the story slowly starts to reveal itself has it goes along. The bad characters are also good, really enjoy hating them.

Most of the magic is half there.
25 March 2024
Ghostbusters: Afterlife was great, heck I even like the 2016 Ghostbusters although a good majority of y'all didn't. And how did I feel about Frozen Empire?

I do like some call backs to the original, and the effects don't disappoint either. I do like the original cast do comeback for nostalgia, and Mckenna Grace, Finn Wolfhard, and Logan Kim are enjoyable. My biggest problem is the humor, it's trying so hard to be funny and expecting me to laugh to the point where I wasn't. And let's forget Carrie Coon, who played a character in Afterlife, but here looks so bored and being uninterested, almost like she is sleepwalking through this, and Paul Rudd, who I usually like in anything, but here he comes across as dull, everything he says is unfunny, like he's doesn't know what he's talking about.

The race to remember.
18 March 2024
A race lasting for five days, a racing team has one chance left to prove themselves that they can win. But get a surprise when a dog comes along on there journey, but will it help them win and change there lives forever?

Mark Wahlberg gives a descent performance, has a man wanting to win, but trying not to lose himself during the race. And the dog playing Arthur is also great here, you see the struggles that Arthur goes through most of it. And Mark Wahlberg and the actors playing his team all really click, as also with the dog. Amazing that it's based on a true story, it feels more like it's being filmed in real time.

A well told tale about making a difference.
10 March 2024
Hairdresser Sharon (Hilary Swank) who is a drunken train wreck, decides to turn her life around when she hears the news about Ed (Alan Ritchson) a recent widower, has two daughters, and one who is very sick, and without the proper help she could die. Now Sharon makes it her mission to raise enough money to help the little girl and save the family.

A great movie that is based on a true story, makes you realizes that helping others can help yourself in return. Hilary Swank once again delivers an Oscar worthy performance , and Alan Ritchson also proves himself quite well, proves he can do more than just be a tough guy action hero. And some supporting cast also do well, if your wanting to see an uplifting film, then give Ordinary Angels a look.

A great tribute to the musical icon Bob Marley.
4 March 2024
Never knew much about Bob Marley, what I did know he was a musician, and wrote some hit songs, and he died young, but that was it. And I'm glad I saw this movie.

I understand that the movie does take creative license with real events. But the movie itself was great, showing Bob Marley has a musician who wanted to bring peace with his music, in hopes to bring a nation together. Really helped me know Bob Marley. Kingsley Ben Adir became Bob Marley, and looks like Marley so much I forgot he was an actor, his performance is Oscar worthy. And it was also great watching Bob Marleys journey through it all.

If you only seen the first part, then you only seen half the story.
2 March 2024
Feels like this was filmed back to back with the first Dune, cause it looks like the actors never really left there roles, all get back into it quite easily.

Timothee Chalamet really more depth to Paul Atreides in the second film, exploring his doubts and his sense of commitment to those who believe in him. But I also liked Austin Butler has Feyd, he really brings the insanity of the character to life, such a scene stealer every time he's on camera. But Zendaya is also great has Chani, expolring more into her character then ever. Action scenes are good when they happen, and effects are great even when it comes to the sand worm.

Drive far away from this.
2 March 2024
After seeing the trailer to Drive Away Dolls, I was expecting a crime caper comedy, but I saw the movie and got something different and not in a good way.

This movie I felt was trying more to shock us then being funny. Had promise but got wasted on lazy storytelling, and two characters who are amusing but then quickly I was feeling smothered by. Margaret Qualley and Geraldine Viswanathan are talented, and have good chemistry, but the problem is I wish they where better written, Qualley overacts and Viswanathan under acts. Other actors who I will not name come in and do very little here. This movie is a trainwreck.

By no means perfect, but still not quite the dumpster fire has critics say.
26 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Has the movie goes on, it's pretty easy to see that this is a prequel to the Tom Holland Spider-Man films.

Dakota Johnson plays Cassie Webb, very well, someone who just lives for her job as a paramedic and nothing else. But soon discovers that she has a great calling, being so reluctant, she realizes she can't run from her destiny.

Dakota Johnson is great, but she plays off the other girls quite well, who also have a great destiny ahead of them. The movie is slow into getting to the point. And at first these characters annoyed me, but it gets better when they come together has a team. Also the main bad guy is good, he is an evil Spider Man. Action scenes are alright not great on other Marvel film level. All in all I found this movie entertaining.

A nice continuing.
14 February 2024
I liked last years Revelation, now was it perfect, in no way, but entertaining. I watched Revolution and I say was a little better, cause it goes more into humanity of the characters. Feeling like a mixture of Star Wars and Lord of the Rings.

The animation is still good, and the voice acting is also great, William Shatner, Mark Hamil, and Keith David to name a few. There is an homage to the 1987 film Masters of the Universe. I also like the way it shows that He Man may be like the Superman, but also shows he needs a team to back him up. I also like surprises you won't see coming. It ends with you wanting more.

Kathryn Newton and Cole Sprouse deserve better.
13 February 2024
I know what this film was trying to be, a edgy dark comedy, like last years Renfield. And Freaky which also starred Kathryn Newton. But where Renfield and Freaky succeed, is where Lisa Frankenstein fails, Mainly because the jokes don't really land. Now nothing is off limits to comedy, the problem is that nothing is funny, just portrays itself has the tragedy that it is.

Now Zelda Williams I think can be a great director, just hope she picks a better film that will make her career. Nobody in this film is watchable, and bring any interest in the film, are just kind of there. Now Kathryn Newton and Cole Sprouse are the only ones here are watchable, they just really clicked. But other than that nothing else.

Amusing but gets confusing half way.
6 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
We all have fears that we have to face, and this movie plays it out quite well. The animation is also quite good, it also combines both types of animations together. The voice acting fits the characters perfectly, even Paul Walter-Hauser has the voice of darkness, sounded like John C. Mcginley.

Now where the movie starts to confuse me is that the story goes into too many directions, and it started to lose me half way. I get that sometimes there have to be surprises in movies to make it interesting, but It has to make sense, for me this did not make sense, but still an amusing film, and has awesome animation.

Stranger than Fiction meets Knight and Day
5 February 2024
There are a lot of twists and turns you almost don't see coming a mile away, but I won't give those away, it has to be seen to be believed.

Elly Conway (Bryce Dallas Howard) is a writer for Argylle, a series of spy novels. One day while taking a trip meets Aiden (Sam Rockwell) who says he's a spy, soon realizes her life is in danger, and discovering that it's all connected to her novels.

A very well made action spy comedy, pulls out all the stops quite perfectly. Howard and Rockwell play off each other perfectly, they just clicked almost instantly. Henry Cavill and John Cena are good the amount of time they are in the film, so are Bryan Cranston and Catherine O' Hara. Action scenes are pretty good also.

A fun martial arts action journey.
21 January 2024
A mixed martial artists whose life is complicated, while preparing for a big fight, and hoping to make it to his daughters birthday, but soon is told if he doesn't make to her birthday he will lose custody of her. So he ditches the fight and tries to make to her birthday in hopes in 60 minutes, but will he?

An enjoyable journey, with some enjoyable John Wick like fight scenes. I like the hero of the film is flawed but a good guy at the same time. Also good at showing things are never what it seems, the movie is not on the same level has Fast and the Furious franchise and in my opinion that's a good thing.

The Beekeeper (2024)

Hard edge action and awesome revenge has Jason Statham can deliver
17 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
A beekeepers quiet and simple life is disrupted, when a customer and friend (Phylicia Rashad) kills herself, and while doing some investigation, discovers that she went bankrupt by the company that was supposed to help her. Now will make it his mission to take them down one by one.

Jason Statham does bring a sense of incredible to his role has The Beekeeper with a deadly set of skills. The villains here are so annoyingly smug you'll be waiting for Statham to get at them. Josh Hutcherson plays his role pretty well, acting like he is high part of the time, and Jeremy Irons is also good, although very little is done with him. My only complaint is that it ends in a typical Jason Statham way, kind of leaving it open for a sequel, maybe I was hoping for something different. But stil an entertaining action thriller.

Ted (2024)

Everything you would expect from Seth MacFarlane.
15 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I saw both Ted movies, that starred Mark Wahlberg, and Seth MacFarlane has the voice of Ted, both had Family Guy like humor, funny and very edgy. And now it's a T. V. show, and I wonder how are they going to pull this off?

It's surprisingly a prequel, set in the early 90's, showing John has a teenager and Ted, there day to day misadventures. The show takes those family sitcom heartwarming moments and turns them on it's head. If you watched Family Guy and American Dad you'll know what to expect here. The cast play there parts very well, you can clearly see there all having fun. I hope this will last a while.

Mean Girls (2024)

Good return to form
15 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I remember seeing the first Mean Girls (2004), and thinking it was entertaining, a film that was a satire at high school life, and all the actors where all fun in the roles. There where sequels that came after, I never bothered to see those.

There are some returning cast members. Tina Fey, Tim Meadows who are reprising there roles from the original, and Lindsay Lohan has a cameo. The musical numbers are a joy, and the actors fit in there roles quite well. It has some similarities with the original, but for some moments it stands on it's own, never makes an attempt to repeat some of the jokes from the original.

Some scary moments work, but that's it.
11 January 2024
A haunted swimming pool is a interesting concept, but just cause something sounds interesting, does not mean it will always work on film, it can if executed right.

Jump scare moments work, I was on the edge of my seat of what is happening next when ever there in the pool. Now the acting is alright, the actors here are giving there all and don't appear to be sleepwalking through it, but the family part just do it for me, nobody really clicked here. At times the film feels like a premise we seen in other horror films.

Not all bad, the premise was good, just does not quite hit the mark half way through.

A truly great underdog story
31 December 2023
After such films like The Monuments Men and Suburbicon, I thought there was little hope for George Clooney as a film director, but after seeing The Boys in the Boat, I think he can be a terrific filmmaker.

In 1936, Joe Rantz (Callum Turner) A poor college student struggling to make ends meat, tries out for a rowing team, in hopes to pay for his tuition. But when he makes the team, now hoping to make it has a winner, when everybody says they don't have a chance. Will the team prove that they are winners?

Another great sports film, where your rooting for the underdog. The actors really deliver well in there performances. Scenes when they are training, you in the audience feel tired with them. Also a great 1930's setting. George Clooney has director proves he still got the chops. Scenes during the rowing races are fun and keeps you on the edge of your seat. Joel Edgerton is also great has there coach.

I liked it a little more than The Flash.
29 December 2023
Critics have ripped this movies to shreds, So I had to see this, just to see if it's has bad as they say, and after seeing it I got to say it was not terrible, was very entertaining, Had it's faults and those moments are easy to see, but still better than The Flash.

Action scenes are well shot, so are the effects, even the underwater scenes, although not quite Avatar: The Way of Water. Jason Momoa is good, although moments when he moments he is trying to be funny, just feels like he mugging for the camera, although he and Patrick Wilson have good chemistry and never seem to out shine each other. The villain Black Manta plays a bigger role, but has the movie went on, I started to lose interest in his quest. But despite that still an entertaining film.
