Best British show I have ever watched.
29 April 2024
Right right right This show is brilliant. I just watched it all on Netflix for the first time. Couldn't imagine having to wait forever with those cliffhangers but -whew was it enjoyable. Twists and turns almost always unforeseeable. Engaging storylines interwoven, elegantly. Loved it. Especially the episodes in the 1800s. But even the regular ones are never dull. Gotta love the wittyness. The characters are all likeable except for the ones you are not supposed to like and they keep it fresh with the villains turning into old villains turning into new villains turning into well you will see... give it a try!

Poor Things (2023)
The Black and white part is the worst after that; THE BEST
22 March 2024
Beyond the Black and white part it is pure comedic genius with beautiful Sets and color compositions, the stimulating vocabulary with charming British accent helps this work of art even more. It's crossing boundaries, displaying ultimate freedom while visualizing the biggest contrasts of life intertwined with genius comedic timing. It's very refreshing.

I don't understand why the first 20 minutes had to be so unbearable, slow, boring, insufferable or in Black and white at all but after that I loved it. A lot. Maybe it was supposed to be like that to highlight how dull her life was and how vibrant it was outside that house? If that's the case I would have preferred that part to be 17 minutes shorter.

Too obvious and stretched
22 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I mean the trailers gave everything away - they included some plot twists - a father selling his daughter, the dragon not being the villain, her having to go back to safe the sister, the other women leaving clues behind but for some reason it just didn't work very well. I can only imagine it's because the plot is too obvious and revealed in the trailer. The whole movie also felt like a huge "look millie is an adult now and can play adult roles, as an adult independent woman" - which she is and I love her but maybe a little too on the nose? 2 hours was a little too long and stretched out for me.. I'll be honest - I skipped around. But there were so many scenes were the dragon could have just toasted her - when she was climbing the crystals, several times when she was running, at the top of the mountain where V wrote the message in probably 0.354 seconds before getting roasted herself. It's a fantasy movie but stuff like this takes me out sometimes. The royal family getting burned was nice and satisfying but idk, didn't really hit overall.

Lots of potential but too much repetition.
18 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
It's really annoying how they rewind and rewind and rewind... I know it's the Asian editing style but it just annoys me SO MUCH. We keep hearing everything 3 times!! Every scream 3 times, every fall rewinded 3 times, every gasp rewinded 3 times. Do you get it already? It's annoying, move along in the Storytelling. There's way too much time wasted by the first half an hour just being "He/She is here???? Wow" "he/she is here? So professional" "he/she also joined? I'm so intomidated". Yes they are all big deals we get it. The second game took up waaaaaaay too much time too. Could have easily had one more challenge in there without time wasting.

They are also explaining game rules more than once to the viewer and rewinding a whole minute after starting the new episode. We just saw all of this - stop wasting my time!!

Now that I got that off my chest; the premise of the show is really good, I liked seeing men and women wrestle usually that's a no no in most societies, the statue smashing is fun too and the challenges are well picked especially the first one threw the big guys for a loop. Very good, I just wish the editing was better.

Edit: I just finished season 1. Most disappointing ending possible. The last 5 challenges were all based on strength MADE FOR HEAVY MEN. There is no way a gymnast or women would have ever won a 5 way rope pulling against heavy men. But even before the producers failed to make the games fair. Some challenges were good and according to their own bodyweight - holding themselves up or a bust of them. But mostly the writers failed. Especially when the team with most women got eliminated because male teams picked each other. This was never a team competition to begin with. "Finding the best physique not based on gender or bodytype" that was sadly a huge lie or a goal aimed too high.

Great cast, visually pleasing Plot is a flop.
9 March 2024
There's almost nothing you say about the plot. The trailer gives it all away, there are some twists and turns but nothing exciting for some reason. The whole movie feels one note and empty. Empty plot mixed with senseless shooting and fighting scenes and pretty visuals. Nothing really innovative though, no fun gadgets that tickle the imagination - that's usually my favorite about spy movies. It's also way too long and fluffed. This could have easily been 90 maybe even 60 minutes. But almost 2 and a half hours??? Come on.. the cast has SO MANY genius actors but if the story isn't engaging it's all no use.

Please don't waste your time
18 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I watched 3 episodes and then skipped to the last 2 episode and I am completely sure there was nothing worthwile inbetween.

SPOILER: The world isn't even really ending in the end. Atleast we don't get the satisfaction of seeing it. There is very little satisfaction in general.

What in the actual f. This is the worst possible thing you could have done with "it's the end of the World we have Total freedom" ... yes Carol is depressed and her problem is her point of view and mindset but instead of fixing this we just mope around the Office and the Globe finding something to dislike everywhere we go. BARF. If anything this show gives you depression. It's torture, especially the Office parts. Carol does have a spiritual awakening in Episode 8 but somehow even that was stale. They realize the now is all we have and there is nothing to chase but somehow every single step there was still dreadful. The last episode is anti climactic too. Instead of listening to her intuition finding her true passion Carol decides sitting in a Bar with Co workers is the best she can do. It's so close but yet so far.... Everything Carol did she could have enjoyed if she changed her mindset first, somehow the show made it into "don't even have fun just settle for where you are now." If you are reading this: follow your passion and your dreams enjoy the now but never settle for something lackluster if it doesn't really make you happy. There is nothing to chase BUT SO MUCH MORE to experience. You deserve everything you desire, enjoy the now but don't settle.

A little cheesy but it's a Christmas movie
5 December 2023
I rarely rewatch movies but I just watched this one for the second time! It's such a feel good movie without the unnecessary hectic Drama but still instills an important message: We can't control what happens but we can control how we handle it. That was such an important lesson.

Jackie's energy is still such a treat especially when you watch the movie for the second time. After the "twist" is revealed. She chooses her words so precisely that she never lies but still doesn't tell more than she wants. A queen. It doesn't compare to classics like the grinch, Santa claus or even newer homeruns like Christmas chronicles but it's definetly really good! I had and awful morning, now I don't!

God I loved this episode!
15 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The references, the jokes, the dystopian technological parts! It's everything!!

I mean when he said "we had to pump the pigs full of chemicals because they kept getting cancer but then we realized nothing grows faster than cancer.. so now we grow and harvest the cancer." That made me burst with laughter. Because it's true!! I hope this show never ends. They manage to include all that and still keep the character loveable and the storyline interesting. Even though this episode took a little detour to the farm it didn't feel like a filler episode at all. And I actually really liked the celebrity inspired cgi outfits... very well done!!

Not horrible just not very good
27 October 2023
I think there was A LOT of expectation I heard of the games, watched some gameplay saw the hype all those years back and so the stakes were high!

Does this movie deliver? The costumes are well done CGI, the mood of the early 00s is there too aaand that's pretty much it. The jump scares and not scaring, the story is SO GENERIC literally every single plot point is visible from the first 10 minutes and not even the twist in the end is twisting. I watched it on double speed and was still a little bored..

It might be a great movie for children without the 2 gory scenes and with them included I feel like this is for the people that loved the let's plays and games/books and are now in their late teens/early twenties. It's about the characters not the story or horror elements. Just nostalgia for that fangroup.

For everyone else I wouldn't recommend. I liked seeing Josh Hutcherson again but that's not reason enough to recommend.

Goosebumps (2023– )

(UPDATE) I was Skeptical and the first episode didn't convince me
20 October 2023
...but I stuck with it and I'm so glad I did. The first two episodes are not the best I didn't really know why. The acting is overdone sometimes and the jokes don't land but somewhere in the 3rd or 4th episode this switches. The humor is actually landing and we get modern humor with some pop culture references but also some throwbacks to the x-files and of course MANY of the old goosebumps episodes/books.

Each episode has it's own "monster" but they are all connected through the friendgroup. At first I thought I would prefer stand alone episodes and different actors but I actually prefer it this way.

The CGI looks great even though the scenes sometimes give CW energy. Overall the Storytelling overways everything and it feels so good to be back in the goosebumps world.

The soundtrack is AMAZING too, straight up bangers in every outro.

If you are a Boomer at heart even though you grew up with goosebumps: you probably already wrote a review about how much this is a woke cashgrab that's unoriginal, but somehow your comment is. This is not for you.

This is for the people that learned the core values of shows like goosebumps and can still have fun and actually like diversity and that everyone gets a seat at the table. Don't take this show too serious because it really doesn't take itself that serious either and then you will have a great time!

Update after completing the show: No spoilers; It's still good, I still miss the old intro, it diverts expectation which I like but the PACING.. the show really needs to work on that. Some episode are just filler (episode 5? And 9).. absolutely boring. 90% talking 10% plot. We need a better balance between slow moody teen drama and action fantasy novel. Because right now the balance is off. Otherwise pretty good like I said. I'm going to lower my score from an 8 to a 7. It didn't wow me in the end but it was nice. Soundtrack is also really good.

It's a great show, minor things to optimize
10 October 2023
It's really interesting to have a dozen people in a house and have them compete against each other, work with each other and also have an emotional connection with each other, by sleeping and eating together.

It reminds me a lot of squid game but based on intellect and instead of skill, like squid game.

There are just some small things to optimize: The rules are waaaaaay too long. Nobody can follow instructions for 10 minutes. And even when I thought I understood it I learned it better by just watching how the game was played.

The last thing is how Math heavy it is. Too many numbers, subtractions and equations. Kinda sucked the fun out of certain parts. Otherwise is such a great show with small riddles in-between the big ones.

Pretty good if you only watch the animated scenes
30 September 2023
Just skip the whole le Bron documentary and the corny real life story with horrible acting. The animators did a fantastic job, the multiverse cameos like Rick and morty and the justice league are mostly pretty fun!

It's a lot of flashing and the editors are flexing but the non human scenes are the best.

This was my first review after the first 20 minutes. I'm really glad I skipped only to the good parts: This movie is so bad. Everything about it sucks there are like 2 seconds of looney tunes melody nostalgia that are fun but the rest literally made me want to bash my head against a wall.

So don't get discouraged give the animators a chance.

Visually STUNNING the story is just fine
14 December 2022
It looks incredible- the first episodes get you right in the Christmas atmosphere. I loved seeing all the actors from the original Cast and I really hope they give us a second season with a better storyline. There was a lot of build up for that so I think they planned it that way too!

I haven't seen the original 3 movies since I was a toddler so this motivated me to do it again and all the little nods to the films were just so magical! This series has A LOT of potential.

I didn't really feel the story lived up to the rest of the show. I thought it would end a different way so that's always pleasing - when you can't see the resolution from miles away. But the "bad guy" didn't have enough depth for me, there was back story but he didn't live up to being a counterpart to Santa. Bad tech guy.. I like the message and criticism towards hyperconsumerism but somehow it was too simple. If you can sum the whole plot up in one sentence.. I don't think that's enough.

Also absolutely hated the one episode that played in summer. I get we were doing a time jump but that horse girl picnic action really didn't give me the Christmas fantasy I watch this show for.

I did enjoy the whole santaverse and the sparky comment from the witch and Ms Clause in the end. Delicious!

So overall - LOTS of potential. I'm excited for season 2 and just the Storyline to improve!

I'm just happy to see the Sanderson sisters again
20 October 2022
Honestly the 3 could do a talk show every halloween and I would watch it. They are the most likeable halloween Characters ever in my opinion.

The movie overall was good.

I cried even and though it didn't end how I would've preferred it was good.

Expectations were high and Nostalgia swings heavily with every movie from the 90s so.. I would've been surprised to like this more than the original but JESUS was it satisfying and heartwarming to see these 3 in another adventure! Thank you Bette, Sarah and Kathy! It's a beautiful loving wink back to the original and just for that I would recommend to form your own opinion!

Also definetly keep watching after the credits.. don't know how I feel about that.

With that said the original Cast was simply iconic and it was great seeing them again.

Watch EP 1-2 and the last one = save a bunch of time
15 October 2022
Also if you hate open endings just as much as I do might think about if this is worth the risk..

You know those shows that are just uncomfortable to watch because there is this looming thread or secret and you just want it to end or know the truth? That's how I felt with this and somehow I had a feeling the ending wouldn't be satisfying and sadly I was right.

I loved seeing Jennifer Coolidge but otherwise this could have been a good movie. As a show it's just too drawn out. I don't need 7 hours of uncomfortableness especially not for that kind of ending.

It wasn't the worst thing I've ever seen but definitely not satisfying.

Almost perfection! In love with the story and whole universe
6 August 2022
The storytelling is amazing it's like 3 seasons of a normale show put in one - no fluff. The CGI is done really really well and works amazing with the whole universe and so does the casting there are some familiar faces like Brianne from tarte (Game of thrones) or Remus Lupin (Harry Potter) but the rest of the cast is just as great!

The show reminded me of a mixture of doctor who, Harry Potter, Black mirror and game of thrones - mystical, magical but still very realistic and engaging! It's a DREAM come true - it feels like everything plays in a slightly futuristic world which pairs very well with the inclusion of a lot of LGBTQIA+ moments but never gets unrealistic or inauthentic. Most humans are probably on the bisexual spectrum anyway and in our world society isn't quite there yet in every part of the world but here we see an amazing example of the topic being treated right- normal nothing to talk about. Why am I talking about it then? Because it's still remarkable that a show gets it right. And sandman got so many things right! I can't wait for season two and a spin off for every single entity! I really hope they don't mess this up with further season like they did with Sabrina for example, the cgi heart in the end got a little corny but overall this was an exceptional start!

The season was amazing the finale was bad
30 July 2022
I have to agree with the other reviews - lipsyncs didn't mean anything and it's almost as if they decided before hand that the two queens from the earliest seasons will be crowned.. I appreciate the lack of manipulation during the season so sad it had to come out at the finale..

It's like gay sex and the city
29 July 2022
If you want something without clichés and stereotypes watch Eastsiders BUT if you want a funny not excessively over done storyline with good pacing and relevant jokes (but also historical gay refrences) definetly watch this! Not everything has to be completely accurate of how gay men live nowadays even though it's not even doing a horrible job at that - but watching someone doom scroll and figure out how to pay bills doesn't really make for a compelling show y'all realize that, right? I'm glad we got over the sad depressing storylines of how bad and never with a happy ending the gay life is - this is a nice change of pace.

The characters have their own side storylines and compliment the main storyline well and it's a comfy but compelling show overall!

Can't wait for season two!

I really wish they would emphasize the part of self sufficiency and individuality more and how to get there instead of just criticizing the dependency of most monogamous relationships.

The part with the guru and spiritual awakening was a nice storyline but executed poorly because the viewer didn't actually take any benefit from it because the new acquired knowledge wasn't communicated- there was just a bunch of snapping. If it was too aspirational leave it out! But I liked how all the storylines left off in the end! Give it a chance it's fun!

Hmmm don't you just love it when the writers don't really know where to go from here so they just make a season having everyone run in a circle ending right where they started. Yes me neither how disappointing.

He's just not funny..
24 May 2022
He makes situations awkward and when he has the possibility to go real deep because the guest led him there he doesn't seem to notice and changes topics. David letterman does have the right base but always diverts it to something weird halfway through, mostly an unfunny joke. I guess that's what laughtracks do to you. There a great moments but overall someone else would be more beificial for the show.. even though it has his name on it..

Hurting people physically and emotionally = funny ? .. no.
21 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Jackass was dumb back then but this is just sad and degrading.. obviously social awareness was different back then but torturing guys in a dark room for 20 minutes, a guy locked in a room with a bear and an eagle eating fish out of a butthole.. it's just sad and animal abuse at this point. Very uncomfortable.. back in the day I had the feeling "they are so stupid but atleast they are only hurting themselves" but this has more hazing energy with the new cast. Don't watch this..

Genius.
7 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The first episode didn't land for me but after that it was deliciously dumb but also completely genius in parts. The overall storyline was captivating and the narrator or meister/seister were some of my highlights including the censoring and general meta comments by "netflix" - perfect! We haven't had Comedy like this in a while (except for barb and star go to Vista del Mar) and nothing makes me laugh as often as this kind. I really hope there's gonna be another season- the ending seemed like it could be plausible.

Boring.. barely any magic or real plot..
23 April 2022
This was boring.. kind of a waste of time - they stretched a 20 min plot to 2hrs+.. I don't care about the characters at all. There were like two spells and the rest was just "shooting" - the magic was basically just recycling old gimmicks like the snitch or showing us hogwarts or the train again. Wohoo fan service.. I'd rather just watch the first Hp again.. The whole movie felt like prisoner of Azkaban mixed with Dumbledores army but not much original. Kinda feels like the story is told.. Also the gay romance kinda feels like queerbaiting at this point.. "Dumbledores secrets"? Really? If you wanna tell a romance tell a romance not this halfcooked mess. They gave us a lazy election plot that is gonna lead up to the final action- as the FOURTH movie?! It really feels like all these movies are just built up so far but the shoe never drops and I doubt it ever will. They have no vision for this series and you can tell. Very unfortunate.

It's amazing. Long but doesn't get boring!
10 March 2022
I would've liked a little more Bruce but this was a very strong introduction to this hopefully new saga with focus on batman.

It keeps elevating up until the very last second. One of the best batman movies ever and the ones that rank higher might just do for Nostalgia purposes.. can't wait for the next movie with another another villian.
