Darth Maul: Apprentice (2016)
Simply the Best....
Arise Darth......Maul.
Today is the beginning of the end for the Jedi.
Yes...............My Master!
I salute you Shawn Bu 👏👍😁
Arguably one of your most epic creations, I am eternally grateful for putting the 💖 back in Star Wars for us true fans.
💖🙏🏽💗. ...Better than All the Rest.
Hacksaw Ridge (2016)
Not for the squeamish, but be warned, by far the best war film I've seen for some time.
My initial scepticism for the true story of the conscientious WWII Objector soon dissipated.
I became overwhelmed by (Grrrrr) the skilful direction of Mel Gibson. He successfully captured the harrowing hell of war within the contrast of the heartwarming hope within one mans desire to do good in his world.
Very, very inspiring, but once again you have been warned, the battle scenes are gruesome.
Death to 2020 (2020)
Do you need a perfect antidote to Covid and social isolation?
Warning; if your political views are within the extreme right region, or you are a bigot, or you remain ignorant, or are reprogrammed during lockdowns, or simply don't have a sense of humour, please AVOID THIS FILM!
This is by far my favourite film of the year! Ok, ok, it's only the 4th of January, 2021, I know.
However, this is easily in my top 50 favourite films of ALL time! I will be doing a more detailed review to explain why later this week.A
Why do I love it? It made me LOL many, many times. It made me think, many, many more times!
As this my first review, written 3 hours after watching, I have deliberately kept the spoiler count as low as I can.
My favourite Character; Tie between Hugh Grants Professor of History (and bigotry), Tennyson Foss, the Nigerian Scientist Pyrex Flask, played by Samson Kayo, and the brilliantly cast Lisa Kudrow as Jeanetta Susan, a beautiful mix of Kayleigh McEnany, Kellyanne Conway and Phoebe Buffay!
The Indian internet multibillionaire mass manipulator was simply genius. He must have been also a Muslim?
Favourite line. "A surprise Covid victim (following Trumps positive Covid Test) was Melania Trump, who we believe has been socially distancing from her husband for at least 4 years!"
Notable moments; the end credits, with interviewees being offered extended contracts.
This is a marmite film. You have been warned!
If US politics doesn't interest you, this is not the point of the film. This is by far one of the best explanations of why and how certain things happened the way they did in 2020. In particular, it helps me understand why over 70 million Americans voted for an orange Man-baby, and reacted to Covid the way they did.
2020, the global annus Horribilus.
Thank you for your time, and I'd love to hear your feedback if you have seen the film.
