Jack Taylor (2010)
Not bad. Not great.
Not sure how Jack Taylor got such a high rating.
* Terrible accent from Glen
* An alcoholic cop with baggage. Wow never seen that before.
* For a supposed ex-policeman he's a novice with crime scenes and searching properties (fingerprints?)
Apart from that, not too bad. Watchable (just).
The Level (2016)
Started off OK went downhill
Love a bit of British crime drama e.g. Happy Valley Shetland.
The Level started off well, unfortunately the ridiculous story got in the way. For a so-called detective, the main lead just makes poor choice after poor choice. Most of them unbelievable for the average person let alone a detective. It's like the production team didn't even consult with real police to understand anything about police procedure.
If you're looking for something to fill in time, it's watchable. If you're looking for a quality crime drama, go for something else.
Cargo (2017)
Final scene is hysterical
They only had about 100 meters to walk and rather than give the baby to the girl (who could walk the short walk herself), he puts both the baby and the kid on his back (while he is a zombie) and walks himself chasing meat on a stick. The whole scene was completely pointless. But the funniest was look on Martin Freeman's face twitching when he arrives at the other survivors camp with the kids on his back. What are the viewers supposed to feel here? Sadness? Empathy? It was hilarious. More like a comedy than a thriller.
London Spy (2015)
Partly good but painfully slow
Wonderfully produced and mostly good acting. Plot is poorly thought through, messy. The worst part is that is sooooooooooo slow.
Hinterland (2013)
Yawn
Some potential, but that was lost in all the long, drawn out, emotionless stares. Was this supposed to be arty?
Had to stop after season 1.
The Fall (2013)
First season 9/10, Second season 7/10, Third season 0/10
First season was great. Full of suspense. Great characters, great acting. Excellent script and plot.
Second season fairly good. Watchable.
Third season absolute trash. They should have stopped at two seasons. No need at all for the third. Sooooooo slow. Unbearably slow.
1) Why is Gillian Anderson whispering most of the third season? The pouting is bad enough, but the whispering doesn't make sense. Is that bad acting or bad direction?
2) Why is the killer left unattended in the hospital room on multiple occasions with a nurse that looks exactly like his victims? Why, after attacking several police, is the killer left alone in a room talking to the - frail - psychiatrist? Both of these instances are examples of the inexcusably poor writing in season three.
3) The killer has a hospital bed NEXT to one of his victims with no police presence. Um... what??? Sloppy writing. Even if there was only one hospital bed left in the entire world, you would not put an unguarded killer next to his victim.
There's talk of a fourth season. Please. Don't.
Lost in Space (2018)
I wanted to like this series. I really did.
It had potential. The CGI is fantastic. Unfortunately, the writing was a let down. The characters are forced to do ridiculous things just to move the plot forward. The pinnacle of stupidity was when the 18-year-old doctor (what?!) decides to rescue one guy (who later dies anyway) at the expense of wasting all the fuel which would have saved everyone else. And, to highlight how ridiculous some of the others help. Hollywood often has this crap. Save one mentality at the expense of many others. Anyway, I could go on. Every single episode is full of stupid mistakes by the characters that it takes away from what could have been a great show.
The robot is great. The best character. Unfortunately he spends the show following some mopey kid around. They really could have used the robot better.
In summary, what could have been a great Sci-Fi show, is ruined by writers that should be shot.
The Mist (2017)
Don't waste your time
Absolute trash. After the pilot, we thought we'd continue watching to see if it got better. A mistake. It gets worse. A lot worse. Most of the time you are rooting for the characters to die, they are that terrible. The script is vomit-inducing and the characters do ridiculous things and are so unlikable that you couldn't care less about them. Don't waste your time.
Edit:
Haha I went back for more. Just to laugh at how bad it is. And it is bad! Wish I could give this a zero. How on earth did Stephen King approve this crap?
