Pandora's Promise (2013)
Educational
I had read one review that labeled this as a "mess" but I still wanted to watch it. After doing so, I found it to be very informative and I learned much more about nuclear energy than I have seen anywhere else. I have to believe that the reviewer who labeled it simply as a mess, could in fact be someone who is so against nuclear energy that they feel others should not see opposing viewpoints.
I thought it was very well compiled and the information and its accompanying documentation flowed smoothly. Yes, it may have a few segments that depicted some who disagree with the nuclear energy as being uninformed but, after watching the film, I have to agree.
It was interesting to see how some who were adamantly against this form of energy in the past, which includes a number of experts in that field, have changed their minds and are now in favor of it after researching the data.
I was also not aware of the different types of reactors and, how corners were cut to save money in just about every location where accidents have occurred with the remaining, being due to human error in that safety fail-safes were ignored, that could have prevented the accident as was the case in Three Mile Island.
Whether you are pro or against this form of energy, I would have to say that I highly recommend this film as one to include in your quest to be informed on the subject.
Mulholland Dr. (2001)
An 8 out of 10?
Roger Ebert said it bast "The way you know the movie is over is that it ends. And then you tell a friend, "I saw the weirdest movie last night." Just like you tell them you had the weirdest dream. "
I can't believe this movie has an 8.0 out 10 rating. This has to be the largest waste of time and, the worst movie that I have ever seen in my life. I kept watching / hoping that somewhere within it's 2 hours and 20 minutes that it would improve but, in the end, sat there in disbelief that it was over and that it ended the way it did.
Until I had seen this, I had thought that Dr. T and the women was bad but, after seeing this, Dr T and the women deserves a Oscar.
There are only 2 things I can find worthwhile with it. #1. It finally ended. #2. That I didn't pay to see it.
If it were possible, I'd give it a minus 10.
Snakes on a Plane (2006)
The weather channel is more entertaining.
On my list in first place of the top 5 worst movies I have ever seen. The inconsistencies in the plot and props were too numerous to mention. I know this is Hollywood and "It's only a movie" but, gees, there should at least be a minimal amount or realism. I don't want to go into details and spoil the ending, ( like that is possible ) so I wont list the inconsistencies mentioned above in case anyone could possibly enjoy watching this and, has any chance of being surprised at the end.
The thing that surprised me the most was that Samuel L. Jackson would lower his acting career so much as to even appear in this slug.
The only good thing about it was the fact that I watched it on HBO. It would have been a huge waste of money had I actually purchased the DVD then been stuck with a new "coaster". No way does this deserve a second look.
The Bourne Supremacy (2004)
Poor camera work
While I found the plot and story line to be very well written, the camera work was terrible. Very rapid, jerky panning and over use of zoom lenses during the action scenes. I know that Hollywood must be attempting to cut costs however; they should revert to using equipment that utilizes "steady cam" technology. The scenes mentioned are so jerky that it made watching the movie almost nauseating.
For the life of me, I cannot understand why the practice of showing non-supported video that appears to be taking by a 5 year old (which seemed to be initiated on NYPD Blue), has continued. If you want to watch a movie that may possibly make you nauseous or at the least, give you a headache due to the camera sequences mentioned above, then by all means, this is your movie. For myself, I am sorry that I spent my movie viewing dollars on this film. The original movie, Bourne Identity, was far better.
Attention Hollywood directors, please consider using supported cameras again. Handholding cameras on multimillion-dollar films is ridiculous.
