Hostel (2005)
Gruesome. With lots of tits. (spoiler marked inside, so skip that part if wanted)
Very, very gruesome indeed. But almost constant tits throughout the ENTIRE movie. Defitnitley not for the faint of heart. Like other Tarrantino films (namely Reservoir Dogs), it takes sort of random directions of it's own, but done in a way that you don't leave the movie dissatisfied. These were all reactions during the movie: cheering and whistling, applause, cheering whistling AND applause, disgust, laughter, dead seriousness/anticipation. At the end of the movie, you don't really feel like you just saw a horror film of a type not often seen these days.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!Spoiler!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For example, when Pax has to cut Kana's (probably misspelled) eye off. You don't expect yellowish... stuff to leak fluidly out of it. Also the way when Pax runs over the 2 girls and the lip-guy, you don't expect him to run the surviving girl over again. The camera work is done beautifully that way. The only real disappointment i had in the entire movie was when Pax holds the Good Doctor's head in the toilet, cuts his throat, and throws his head back into the toilet, he never flushes it.
We Will Rock You: Queen Live in Concert (1983)
Excellent Concert
Queen is my favorite band, and this was an excellent concert. It was charged from the beginning to the end, including a version of Jailhouse Rock that was almost just as good as Elvis Presley's. Freddy's common eccentric and charismatic acting was as evident here as in any performance he gave. At about 2/3 of the way through, there's a drum and guitar solo, so All the members could take a break. But the guitar solo is good (Brian is no Jimi Hendrix or Eric Clapton, but he is still a very skilled guitarist nonetheless), and i thought the drum solo left a touch to be desired (Sorry Roger, i respect you, but it just seemed partially lacking. But he was performing hard throughout the entire concert). This was an early concert of theirs, and i own it on DVD. Well worth the $15 it cost me, but i bought it at Fry's, and they aren't a discount house for movies. If you have never heard of Queen (god forbid... just think of We Are The Champions and We Will Rock You and Bohemian Rhapsody (Wayne's World). That was them), but you like AC/DC or Aerosmith, or heavy metal/classic rock at all, Queen is well worth checking out.
P.S. I know this is terribly written, but i'm sick, so don't bother me :p
Are You Afraid of the Dark? (1990)
A brilliant show
One of Nickelodeon's greatest shows, before it became the modern, 24-hour-Spongebob-Fairly-Oddparents-Channel. The stories were exceptional, the concepts were brilliant, and some of the shows (including my favorite) were a little scary. And the best part: They were written by kids. Don't let that bother you at all. The shows were written beautifully, and, god forbid, if they come out, I will buy them the day it comes out. I hope Nick has the good sense to put it's older shows out on DVD. This was among the greats, and was loved by both children, kids, teenagers, adults, and elderly people alike. I remember staying up at night, eagerly waiting for this show to come on. Nick, PUT IT OUT ON DVD, WITH ALL THE OTHER GREAT FORMER SHOWS OF THE MID 90's.
