Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991)
Update now! Terminator v2.00 released!
WARNING: This comment does not contain spoilers for Terminator 2, but it assumes that you have seen Terminator 1, so if you haven't seen it, be warned that the comment contains spoilers for Terminator 1.
Being interviewed about the Terminator 1, Swartzenegger has said: "When we finished the movie, I told to Cameron: This movie should be REMADE as a sequel."
And I think that this is the main point. This movie could be perceived as an improved version of terminator 1. Now, with: -An even more invulnerable terminator. -An even more self-sacrificial protector. -An addition of some awesome sci-fi effects and action scenes. -Improved the magnitude of the heroic and touching scenes. -Less bleak music(Terminator 1 music wasn't really bad, but it was giving the movie a great part of it's darkness). -Removed much of the predictability bugs. -Removed almost all of the darkness and brutality bugs. -Removed the horrible "It's your destiny" bug. -A transformation of the dreadful, scary and evil phrases of the first Terminator to the comic relief of the movie(e.g."I'll be back"). -A general change of the style.
In terminator 1, a man was sent to protect a woman from an indestructible terminator. The style, however, of the whole thing, could make the viewer understand that the whole Terminator story is just the sci-fi effects. If you look it from a point of view, the "subliminal", let's say, story is either: 1)The terminator is Sarah Connor's cruel husband who seeks to kill her because she run away with her lover, Reese.(This the worst-case scenario) 2)Reese is Sarah Connor's husband and is determined to save her from a psychopath who wants to kill her for no reason.
Anyway, I think that Reese missed something as a protector. He came to die to save the woman he loved, which is one of the most closest things in the history of cinema. He is a noble soldier, but he doesn't inspire much respect.
In terminator 2, I think that the "subliminal" story was that the protector was John Connor's father, who came back in time determined to save his son from an evil killer, even if this is going to cost him his life.
Overall, I think that Terminator 2 was a very good movie, although it lacked slightly in smartness at it's whole spirit.
That's what I think. I could be absolutely wrong, so I advice you to read more comments for this movie if you want a better picture of the movie.
Top Secret (1952)
Super film
This film is extremely good. Very funny, especially because of George Cole's playing, revolutionary and unique. I believe it must have been a very annoying film in its age, since it actually presents the English as bad as the Soviets. I can't believe that it's so unknown. It's really very good, very satirical and very revolutionary:(Scientist to Minister: I made a mistake, our bomb will not cost 23.000.000 pounds, it will cost 230.000.000 pounds. Minister: Oh never mind, it's such a slight difference.(Right after that, the scene changes, with a supervisor speaking to a plumber)Supervisor: 23 pounds for the plumbing of a sports center is too much! You got to reduce the cost.)(This wasn't exactly the words but the difference is in the details. I don't think referring this is a spoiler.) I recommend it to everyone this film to everyone, and I personally estimate that this is a G-rated film, PG at worse. Great fun, originality, quality.
Back to the Future (1985)
This movie is disgusting
This movie is simply disgusting. I must have seen it about 50 times and each time I see it I get more and more disgusted. What is this thing? Each actor is playing perfectly, while you just have to look for one second at DcBrown's face to start laughing. The plot is so impressive that I can't get bored in a single scene, and the worst thing of all is suspense: It's chemically made(prepared with peaceful scenes to begin in action scenes) to make you feel real suspense, being unable to predict what is going to follow, and with a music casing that makes things about 6 times worse.
In addition, it contains contradictory material: It's both classic AND innovation. How can you make an impressive, suspenseful action scene with a skateboard run without making something completely stupid? Ask those who wrote "Back to the Future". Besides that, the whole movie is completely according to reality, with just a small add-in: The time machine. And, finally, it's rated PG. A theme that would be expected to be rated-R for other scriptwriters, in this film it's made in a moral, family, let's say, way. Not a single bloody drop of bloody blood. All wickedness and sexual abnormality belongs to the bad guy. This must be the most disgustingly good film I have ever seen.
