Love it (But Maybe Because I am Estonian)
25 March 2019
For some reason I think think movie with its characters, storyline and background has the biggest effect on Estonians themselves. I just can not imagine the story (or the book that it is based on) has much impact on someone from US, Brazil or Thailand.

It is difficult to explain why the somewhat depressing subject of the film (work, work, work without the reward, redemption and love) is so important for Estonians. It is just part of our cultural narrative and how Estonians view themselves I suppose. So Truth and Justice is one those films that you have to see if you want to get a glimpse into the hard-to-crack soul of our little country and its people.

As everyone knows, Estonians do not like to praise (much like the characters in the movie in fact), so the simple fact that everyone I know loves this film, says more about it than any international praise may ever do.

Excellent look into modern day egoistic marriage
22 November 2017
Warning: Spoilers
To me, this film is about selfishness and inability to accept responsibility for one's actions. This is such a relevant topic not only in Russia but pretty much everywhere in Europe. People are so convinced that the only that matters in their lives is their personal happiness and nothing else. And if you have made a mistake in your past, someone else, not you is responsible for this mistake.

The film starts with a very typical argument between exes that is filled with accusations from both sides. It is clear that the married couple who are in the middle of the divorce have never been happy. They have let someone else decide that they had to get married and have been quite unhappy and unfulfilled since.

It is their parent's fault, their society's fault, it is their child's fault that they are unhappy. They actually believe that it was not their own doing and their own choice. And now that they are stuck in this situation they are both seeking the easiest way out, and that does not include their son.

The father's attitude is extremely common among Soviet men, that it is mothers responsibility to take care of the child, and in 99% of cases that is exactly what would happen. Except, in this case, the mother is also selfish. She does not want the burden of bringing the child to her new lover. So her blame and bitterness are clear to everyone, including the child himself. I can not imagine the pain of the child and what it could do to someone's psyche. Knowing that you are not loved and not wanted, that you are in the way of your parents' happiness. So it is no wonder that he decides to run away.

Even though it should be every parent's worst nightmare, this is exactly what they both wanted. To get rid of him. But of course, this does not result in happiness either. Now they have even more things to blame for their miserable lives.

Seriously people??
7 November 2014
I do not know what kind of PR team the production team has hired to promote this film, but obviously they are doing great job as it has already higher score than Inception... Seriously guys??? This film has 5/10 stars at best, and even that for just potential. Rest of it is lost because the film has absolutely no logic to it.

Stupid, illogical and at times really boring and long. Even though I am no scientist, it was so stupid on so many levels with even the most basic of facts that I have no comments to this....

Set your expectations low- no way in hell does this film deserve any of that praise posted here....

Breaking Bad (2008–2013)

One of many raving fans!!
30 September 2013
Even though I don't write reviews very often, I will do this for this one. BB is one of the best TV shows in the last 10 years for sure. Brilliant storyline, unexpected twists, great acting and a great ending (unlike Dexter).

Lot of people talk about great actors who played Walt and Pinkmann, but my other favorites was the sleazy lawyer (brilliantly cast) and Skylar, Walts wife!

I think why this series is so great is that no character is black or white. They are very much on the gray scale- all characters have flaws and everyone can relate/understand them to a degree.

Of course Walts choice to start making drugs is questionable to many. But I think most people can relate to mid life crisis, desperation, self fulfillment and love for the family. We all make bad choices sometimes, but thankfully not as bad as Walt.

One thing I take with me after BB, is that even though we all have choices in life, we never really know where they are going to take us...
