Capital Punishment (2003)
nothing special
The movie is shot in such fashion, that it feels real (camera/colors), almost like a reality show. Colors are pretty much flat - like on a rainy day, and the movie is partly dark.
Actor performances are good, but it all feels like a really low budget movie made only for TV. You won't learn anything, and it won't keep you locked to a chair.
So, to go to the cinema and watch this one? NO! Watch it on TV... well, if you don't have anything better to do. You might be better of watching a CSI show.
A 5/10 from me.
Battlestar Galactica (2003)
invigorating!
After the pilot had aired, I thought that the show will fail to keep up with the incredible quality that that episode set (even though we're talking about a remake). But after a few more, I was glad I was wrong.
Having watched the first twelve episodes (and the DVD movie, prequel) I can conclude that Battlestar Galactica managed to envelop everything I ever wanted from a TV series: It has great sci-fi, action, compelling stories, interesting plots and atmosphere. Also, everything is wrapped up and presented with a superb audio and video production - right down to perfectly timed short film exposures.
One other thing that I must point out is that I'm not really a big sci-fi fan. I like various, both drama and comedy series, theatrical movies and other, that are far from sci-fi domain. Nevertheless, Battlestar Galactica managed to creep into my life, and in a strange fashion, shine above all the other shows I've seen lately. So even if you aren't a sci-fi fan, you may consider checking this show out.
A perfect 10.
