Olympus (2015)
Just plain numbing...
I really wanted this to work. I tried...the actors were great and even the senery/backgrounds were good. But the writers made the characters so wish-washy! They will be doing one thing then turn around and act or do something totally different! With no reason what so ever why! I found myself watching it just to see Sonita Henry once in a while. That seemed to be the only thing going for it. And this is another series SCI-FI or SYFY or whatever the he11 they are calling them self nowadays 'forgot' to finish. The last episode was horrible. Don't waste your time watching this. Not sure why I even gave it a 2. Pity perhaps? I think someone should start up a new sci-fi channel. One with sci-fi instead of wrestling and such. Get back to stuff like BSG, Stargate, Warehouse 13, LEXX, Farscape, and Star Trek re-runs. Not this garbage SYFY puts out now. I guess that is why Netflix is doing so well.
Star Trek Beyond (2016)
Haters are going to hate...But I loved it!
Just like one of the reviews commented...those who hate the Re-boot are going to hate them all. Good or bad. I actually liked it better than the new Star Wars 7 movie. People need to stop being a Star Trek Nitpicker like Phil Farrand and start enjoying the movie. Some of these people will enjoy only the old stuff. Even TNG, VOY, DS9, and Enterprise did not satisfy their Trek needs. Just like the Battlestar Galactica re-boot. Many of the fans did not like that either. But unless they get all the old actors back together (the ones still alive) and have them walking (crawling) around the ship with canes, wheel chairs, and walkers, they will never be satisfied. The re-boot is for new fans as well as the old ones. You can't please everyone...as you can definitely see by some of the reviews on here. Compared to the old movies, I believe these are pretty damned good. We all know (the die hard fans anyway) that the odd numbered movies (original cast) were pretty bad (1,3,5) while the even number movies were pretty good (2,4,6). I think these re-boots are coming along just fine. We saw Kahn in #2 and Kirk died instead of Spock (just like the original), and we saw the new space station in #3 and well as the Enterprise's destrction, just like the original. They may just go back into time with #4. That would be interesting!
Stroker and Hoop (2004)
Why do they get rid of the good ones?...
Just a great cartoon with some lovable characters (and some HOT looking ones too!). A couple of detective getting into more trouble while trying their best NOT to get into too much trouble. The stories seem original and definitely hold your attention. Just think of Starsky and Hutch as detectives instead of cops, give them an attitude, add an orange car somewhat like KITT in Knight Rider, and inject that with some very crazy stories,...now you have Stroker and Hoop. I am not sure why it was not renewed. With the Simpsons going on the 28th season (yawn), it is time we get some new material. F is for FAMILY is a great start! But I do wish they would start up King of the Hill again. But I give this show an easy 10.
Check It Out! with Dr. Steve Brule (2010)
Simpl (very simple), but entertaining.
I am very surprised that the rating on this show is so high. It is probably due to the ones reviewing are weirdos, like me. I like a simple show. It doesn't need a weekly budget of 1.7 million dollars to be entertaining. Or a cast of 12 highly paid actors/actresses. But this show seems to have a weekly budget of around $173.00 and a cast of a very few, little known people. And most of the budget goes to the catering staff! And the people in charge of the cutting room should be fired! (Yes, I know it is made that way too feel cheap!) No, really, this show is really entertaining to the Tim and Eric crowd. T&E had Dr Brule on one of their shows. If you do not like T&E, you won't like this. BTW...We need to get some new T&E shows! PLEASE!!!
Gods of Egypt (2016)
I just liked it...
Seeing some of the reviews online, I wonder if people just watch a movie while relaxing anymore. I thought this movie had great effects, a pretty good story line, and very likable characters. I even liked the bad guys. I see many people commented that the cast was too 'white'. Do they bitch about Star Wars people being too 'human'? Come on people, this is fantasy. It is OK to have 13 foot tall 'gods' walking around as long as they are ethnically correct??? Do you think Egypt really looked like that in those days? This is a fairy tale. Not real life. Just like the tales of the bible. Sit down and enjoy a movie once in a while. Don't try to nit-pick through the whole movie! And for Christ's sake, RELAX once in a while!
Dice (2016)
Just OK
First of all, I need to say that I have never ever liked ADC. Never. But I thought I would give this a go. The first episode was quite likable. A bit funny at times and Clay wasn't too much of an A-hole. But the second episode? I had to stop watching it half way through. And I REALLY like Adrien Brody. His characters are just people you HAVE to like. But Clay being an jackass 90% of the time just ruins it for me. So this series (which I will quit watching after the first half of the second episode) gets a 2/10 rating from me. The first episode a 6/10, and the second a -4/10. And for the beautiful Natasha Leggero... Her parts are small and very infrequent. She deserves much better than this...
Pompidou (2015)
Matt Lucas is just GREAT!
This show is now one of my favorites. It keeps me entertained like Mr. Bean and the 3 stooges have been doing for many years. This show isn't for everyone. But for those who enjoy laughing at other peoples troubles, this is your show. Poor Mr. Pompidou gets into some wacky circumstances throughout the series. For those who have seen some of Matt Lucas's previous acting, they can appreciate his talents. Every time I see him in Little Britain, all I can think about is Benny Hill. I too find the low rating for this show troubling. But like I said earlier, it isn't for everyone. The only way to find out is to watch it for yourself. And it is also pretty 'kid friendly'. My 13 year old son just loves it. Give it a try. And thank you Matt Lucas!
Manborg (2011)
Makes Terminator (one) look like the STATE OF THE ART movie!
A few kids in a basement? Is this the people who made this movie? This show makes Terminator (one) look STATE OF THE ART! I can not believe anyone would waste their time with this trash. This would only be interesting if it the theme on MST3K!!! I see why there are shootings in movie theaters with movies like this! Was their budget around $500.00 (including the cost for a pizza lunch)??? If this was made back in the 60's it still would look like crap! I wouldn't give it a single point of a single star! And this review is coming from a person who loves the movie DARK STAR and enjoyed HYPERDRIVE while it was still on!!! If you are very tired and want to fall asleep or are waked out of your head on mind altering drugs, this movie is for you. Otherwise I would pass on this one! OUT-A-HERE!
P.S. I wanted to add this. Have you have seen acting and special effects on the 3DO system in the 1990's? Well, they are actually better than the ones in this movie.
