The Evil Dead (1981)
The worst film I have ever seen
To start off with I love weird stupid films and shows, I personally love the Scary Movie franchise (Yes the later ones were not as good as the first two), I love the idea of just sitting down, switching my brain off and enjoying idiotic things for an hour and a half. But I like many people have limits and this film destroyed them, before watching this film I thought the worst kind of film was a boring film that you don't even react to, but no this film changed that.
So this film is about a group of people going to a cabin in the woods for a holiday and when they get there weird and satanic stuff happens, nothing other than that really happens. The characters are very forgettable and bland and this includes the main character who is the worst of the bunch, but where this film is at its worst is with what it shows and makes you listen to.
One of these things occurs about 25 minutes into the film, when I first watched this I stopped it and made sure I saw what I actually saw and then carried on, the thing that happens is one of the dumbest things I think I have ever seen (Remember I love the first two Scary Movie films) and it just makes you rack your brains at its existence. Then near the end everything gets so much worse as the sounds used are very grating and just painful to listen to.
A pro of this film is the special effects which for the low budget of this film (Wikipedia puts it between 400,000 and 500,000) is just incredible as they are so creative and puts other horror directors with bigger budgets to shame. Other than that the plot is like the characters and is very boring and forgettable and the film is regarded as a Horror and it is not scary at all compared to other films from that era like 'The Thing' and 'Friday the 13th' this could just be because of budget but 'Friday the 13th' did not have a much higher budget (Wikipedia puts it at 550,000), this film also has been regarded by fans as a comedy and it is not funny in the slightest.
It may have been different if I saw it when it came out but I do not know, it could just be my taste in films (Although I would say I like quite a broad range of films). Oh well I have no idea and if you like this film then that is great that it can appeal to others and bring you/them happiness and remember that this has been my opinion and you really do not need to get upset or angry with it but hey, do what you like. Have a good one :)
Brooklyn Nine-Nine (2013)
This show is better than it should be
Brooklyn Nine-Nine is a show about a police precinct in Brooklyn and it follows a variety of characters, who are a bunch of misfits who when they get to work they do a really good job, there are weirdos, nerds, and one of the most egotistical characters you will ever likely see. Despite this all of the characters are amazing as they are all likable and have incredible chemistry which makes this show one you should watch.
It mainly follows Jake Peralta who is a guy who loves his work, is incredibly immature and usually takes inspiration from action films like Die Hard whilst on a case. The show always follows the other characters in engaging and hilarious plot lines which also shows off different traits and experiences of their separate characters.
Whilst it is an amazing show, it has it's flaws such as every finale has started to end in mostly the same way and the first couple of episodes of the next series will be centred around this one thing. As with any show there are some episodes that are not as good as the others, however after 4 seasons there are no seriously bad episodes so that is great.
One last issue is that there is a duo in the precinct called Hitchcock and Scully who exist solely to be gross out characters (Which I don't particularly mind) and are essentially the exact same character, however they can be really funny and they do have characteristics even though they have the least amount of character development than anyone else in the show.
So in conclusion this is an exceptional show which has a wide range of lovable characters and many different kinds of humour and jokes which are usually very funny. If you have seen a trailer for this show and it expect it to be another of those sitcom comedies like, New girl and The Big Bang Theory, it actually has a much higher level of quality then those two. (Personally I really like TBBT even though it got noticeably worse after a couple of seasons and NG I never really liked even though I watched all of the first season)
So I seriously recommend this show and would say at least give one or two episodes a watch.
Have a good one. :)
Inside No. 9 (2014)
One of the best shows of our time
Inside No 9 is another creation from Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith who together had created Psychoville and were a huge part in creating The League of Gentlemen, two very good dark humour comedy shows with less then a decade between them and three years after Psychoville had ended Inside No 9 was born.
The best way to describe Inside No 9 is by calling it an anthology show with loads of horror, drama and comedy in it whilst being set in or around a number 9. Each episode has it's own story and they are usually creative, original and interesting which for half an hour per episode is very good.
Most of the episodes are amazing works of art whilst some others may not have what the others do to be great, but with it being an anthology show is good because if you do not like one episode you may like another.
The stories of this show are very good as you could have an episode about people playing sardines in a wardrobe, a witch trial or even an episode about an art exhibit. If this show lacks in one area it will more then likely make up for it somewhere else.
It is best not to say too much about this show as it can be easily spoiled, so if you think you will like this show give it a try the worst that can happen is that you will lose about half an hour, but if it goes well you will have a new show to watch.
If you like The League of Gentlemen or Psychoville there is a very high chance you will like this and also if you like dark humour you will probably love this show. Remember this is my opinion not yours, have a good one :)
Rick and Morty (2013)
Practically the same as the other awful animated shows
If you ask a person who likes this show how it is, usually they will act like it is the almighty golden gem of animation, yet what I see in this show is a cross between Family Guy and the worst episodes of Futurama. If you are expecting a smart animated show which will constantly find new ways to make it's audience laugh, forget about it, it is gross out humour and mostly dumb jokes.
The show is about an elderly alcoholic mad scientist named Rick and one of the most generic characters ever which is his grandson Morty, the show is about their adventures through space and time and different dimensions. This could have been a good set-up, but it gets wasted on so much gross out humour or bland and downright unlikable characters.
The side plots are usually about the rest of the family, who like Morty are just generic and boring and usually unlikable, their plots just revolve around them interact with one of Rick's creations. The rest of the family consist of Jerry and Beth the parents of Morty who are not even the slightest bit memorable and then you have the daughter Summer who could easily be replaced with a teenage girl off any comedy film that does not try.
If you like Community or Family Guy this is a high chance you will like this, otherwise we are getting to the point where there are so many good animated shows out there, even some kids shows use a higher quality of humour then this and balance a good story with good humour.
If you want a good smart animated show give Gravity Falls a try, but if you do like this show it's great that it brings joy to others and remember this has been my opinion. Have a good one :)
