In Fabric (2018)
Stars for style; stars for acting.
Stars for style; stars for acting, but none for that inexplicable, gross, and pretentious mannequin scene. You can have two of those characteristics, but not all three. Although pulling off portraying all three is a feat in and of itself, I suppose.
Bumblebee (2018)
And The Award For Best Puppy Goes To...
If you wish to watch Bumblebee play the role of a puppy in a cliched tv-movie-of-the-week style story about a girl dealing with her father's death and accepting her stepfather into the family then this is the film for you.
The three stars are for Soundwave's brief appearance, the few times I genuinely laughed, and for the soundtrack (although perhaps had they distributed the budget elsewhere this disaster could've been avoided).
X-Men: Dark Phoenix (2019)
Phoenix At Last
Phoenix in full effect. Finally. This film displays how powerful this character actually is. It's been a long wait, many years and bickering over beers about who the most powerful mutant is with diehard movie-franchise wolverine fans. I never thought I'd see this story told on the big screen and then waiting for it to start, I was worried it would be dialed down again. I needn't have worried. It was fantastic. Beautifully told.
