Who Invited Them (2022)
Funny Games meets Knock-knock, but please watch those movies instead
I just finished this steaming mess and had to check out the IMDB ratings just for kicks. While there aren't any 7+ reviews, I'm still surprised they aren't worse. They should be!
The thinnest of plots, vapid one-dimensional characters, and although I couldn't predict the precise ending, anyone could see generally where it was going, ESPECIALLY if you've seen either of the two movies mentioned in my intro.
The dialogue and pretentiousness of the characters made me want to scream, "just kill each other already!"
Seriously, Funny Games (the original European version) and even Knock-Knock are sooooo much better in every respect. Please do yourself a favor and look for those movies instead. This movie and these characters are just brutal to watch.
Into the Night (2020)
A lot better than expected
It was actually quite fast-paced, given what seemed to be an impossible premise. Other reviewers have compared it to Lost, and I can see that element. A bunch of strangers, each with their own larger-than-life back story, thrown together against a common threat.
I dislike a story that throws plausibility out the window, but it didn't bother me during this story. So, if you can suspend your disbelief, and just accept that our heros can continue to solve impossible problems in a ridiculously short amount of time, then I think you'll enjoy it. I'll be looking forward to season two.
Hayflick Limit (2017)
Now I see why I'm the first reviewer
First off, I almost NEVER give up on a movie Midway, no matter how what.
At 10-15 minutes in, we meet the protagonist. She escapes from her captor. NOTHING happens up to about the 45-minute mark, when it is revealed what any viewer would be suspecting. I watched another 10 minutes or so and that was all I could take.
I've literally seen better acting and better writing in a movie. I am not exaggerating. Stay away!
