Gossip Girl (2021)
i mean.. they're no Blair and Serena
I was a bit hesitant and I mean, it's only the pilot episode I'll still give it time to warm up. But this pilot was ... kind of boring. Or maybe I'm old haha! I honestly wish they didn't try to ... recreate the original characters. Don't get me wrong, they're their own character, buuuut ... it's like HBO tried to cast the same TYPE of characters like in the og. Which just makes me chuckle cause it's so obvious.
I wasn't expecting to know who GG was in the pilot episode though, that was a shock. I'm interested to see how this unfolds for those involved behind the scenes though, because the biggest thing in the GG world was .... who is gossip girl? She is everyone basically. But this time, we know who 'she' is. So we aren't learning with the characters this time, we know more than them. It's interesting.
The "drama" was boring as hell compared to the pilot of the OG unfortunately, but again ... it's just the pilot I'll give it time to warm up. Not horrendous, not anything exceptional. But I mean, it is Gossip Girl haha! BONUS THAT KRISTEN BELL IS VOICING GOSSIP GIRL AGAIN THOUGH!!! So excited they got her back!
Once Upon a Time (2011)
Cora and Neverland were the best
I've rewatched seasons 1-3 sooo many times. To be honest, Cora was by far the greatest villain in this show. I've never seen a villain written so ... ruthlessly in a TV show like she was. The lengths she went just for power. Her character was incredibly written. And then Neverland, my favorite season, oh man... I have a soft spot for Hook in this show because well, he's amazing lol. But PAN in this show. No longer are the fairy tales of Pan being the "good" one, but as the demon he was originally written as. Just ... *chefs kiss*. But then something happened in the writing, after that season it was just like something shifted and they weren't quite sure what to do with the show but the popularity of it made them continue? Season 4 was still good, but not the best. And then they brought in Elsa and ... I could never watch after her season.
Also Evil Queen Regina was by far the B E S T character in this show. She is the evil queen. Lana did a superb job portraying this complex character and man, all of the character development went to her I swear haha. If you haven't seen the show, honestly just watch her because she is ... well ... enchanting.
But alas I never actually finished the show, like I said after Elsa I just ... gah... the writing was so bad in that season. I kind of know how it ends, maybe one day I'll soldier through the back half of this series. Nothing will be greater than the first 3 though. All in all a wonderful show especially if you're like me and love fairy tales.
Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
What happened to Ben's voice??
So ... I watched this finally and I'm genuinely confused why Ben (kylo ren) has like... zero lines in the last hour of this film? He never speaks after the battle on the Death Star and it makes no sense why? Did the actor have an accident or something? That can't have been on purpose right? Right???
Also WHY DID REY AND BEN KISS??? that came out of flippin nowhere and made zero sense what-so-ever. Why? Huh? Why??? I'm not sure why this film has such high praise, it was honestly probably the most ... chaotic of the 3 new ones. I just don't understand the direction they wanted for this film. But okay... lol
Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again (2018)
I was definitely cheated by you, Mamma Mia 2
So... I went into this movie LOVING the first one and happy they were making a second. I left the movie ... um... empty? Okay, I love the idea of them going back to when Donna was first pregnant with Sophie and her journey, however... like none of the events actually added up to the story of how it all happened in Mamma Mia when Sophie found her diary. Literally none of it.. at all. Also WHY WAS CHER EVEN IN THIS MOVIE?!?!! Her character did NOTHING to the plot and it just was kind of stupid the movie would have been better without her since, again IN THE FIRST FILM (did you guys just not go back to the first script before planning this?) her mom was presumably DEAD (cut to the scene after Donna and them sing Super Trooper and are in her room and Donna says "somebody up there has it in for me, I bet its my mother" ... POINTING TO THE CEILING LIKE HER MOM WAS DEAD). I just am disappointed. I feel like Cher was just in there to sing Fernando cause that's...all she did. I loved who played young Donna, Lily James, though she was sweet. I don't know, this movie just didn't have the same feel as the first one. Although, I did cry in the end and I know I wasn't the only one that did cause I heard the sniffles in the theater xD that last scene was very touching. But um .... that's about all I got. Loved the original cast and the young cast (although it would've been HILARIOUS if the guys dressed like in the first movie when Donna had flashbacks of them hahaha). The songs are decent, also the replays of the classic hits were great. It was just ... kinda there. Probably won't see it again, I'll stick with the first movie.
Also, these are JUST MY OPINIONS, if you see it differently awesome I'm so happy for you, I just feel like... they had a chance and they missed the shot. It wasn't a complete miss in my opinion, the story of how Donna met the guys and how it all happened just didn't really add up to how it was told originally and that kind of bugged me. I get they were going completely back and creating a whole new story, however, they made an "outline" of how she met them all when Amanda sung Honey, Honey ... so ... and I just again don't get why Cher was even in this. It just made zero sense. If she wasn't in the movie it'd be 5 minutes shorter, that's it. Maybe I'll see it again once it comes out to video and watch them back to back and have a different reaction, but until then ... I'm empty.
