Zombieland (2009)
Zombieland is a land i could live in!
I am a long time fan of Zombie movies. From the original Night of the Living Dead, and Dawn of the Dead to 28 Days Later and Zombie Honeymoon. I was very excited to see this and not only did it live up to all my expectations but it FAR surpassed them!!!
The story is standard fare for a zombie movie. Several survivors meet up as the movie goes on and band together to survive and bond. The thing that makes this movie fun and unique is the WAY it is all pulled off and put together. There are easily TWO break out characters in the movie. Both by two top name actors. The first was Woody Harrelson's character of Tallahassee, The "bad-ass tough guy". Not only does he kick so much ass in the movie but he is fun and funny and loving. The big surprise you find out about him near the end of the movie , which i won't spoil here, makes you love him. The second one... SPOILER SPOILER Is the short lived character played by Bill Murray....as himself!!! Not only was it EXCITING to see him in it. But every little scene he is in... is stand up and memorable.... even when he's a dead corpse!
If you love or like or even slightly enjoy horror or zombie movies... i FULLY recommend you see this movie! it has all the scare and gore you could want and also lots of great characters and laughs.
Opportunity Knocks (1990)
and underrated classic
While this is not by far one of the greatest movies ever made but it is a very underrated movie. it has great acting a good story many many funny moments in it and it is still very good after repeated views if you are looking for a god funny not very known movie that stars Dana Carvey i highly suggest it. it is also a very good movie for anyone that lives in Chicago. there are a lot of good sight seeing scenes in it like the Wrigley field scene which is also one of the funniest scenes in the movie. this movie is Dana Carvey at his funniest when he is solo while there are many more funny movies where he has a major actor comedian along with(Wayne's world) this is him pure and on his own. it also shows that he can kinda sing too
Land of the Dead (2005)
land of the bad
I have been looking forward to this movie for years. Since it was still called dead reckoning and I've wanted it for over 5 years and i was handed this p.o.s. i would like to come in and give the goods and bads of the movie but there aren't any goods only bad so ill list them 1. bad and uninteresting plot 2. no character development and every time you thought there was going to be some it went nowhere and was left dead on the screen just like the rest of the movie 3. the new idea of "thinking zombies" while it is bad could have been done and handled a lot better it almost turned into return of the living dead 4 for a while there and now i do love my return.... movies this is not one and they have better plots(OK kinda) 4. there were so many in stories in the movie . little plot devices that threatened to make the movie good but went nowhere 5. three letters cgi it does not belong in a George Romero film there were cgi shots that were done practical in dawn or day that made me angry 6.the ending what the hell was with the happy riding off into the sunset everything is going to be great ending but it fit and was the perfect bad ender to a truly bad and disappointing movie 7 and while these aren't the only problems this will be the last one ill list the movie was to damn predictable h'm lets see they add on 3 military personnel to the main cast of characters in the middle of the movie i wonder whats going to happen to them? its like the red shirts in old star trek episodes and while in that its funny at times in this all the predictable plot points were depressing
I just hope that there is a much different version released on DVD that George has not lost his touch but that his original vision was changed by a big movie production company trying to make it fit into there vision of a zombie action movie should be. i hope George hasn't lost his touch.
well don't go see it if i cant convince you then you are truly an idiot
The Evil Dead (1981)
The be all end all of horror movies!!!!!!!!!!!!
This movie is the movie that started me into horror movies. I had seen horror movies before this but this is what made me a horror fan. if you haven't seen it i give this movie and its sequels my highest recommendation
there is everything in these movies. From disgusting horror, shock horror, spookie horror, and even a bit of humor. The only slight down side may be that it was made very low budget. This is covered over by the greatest actor of all time--------------BRUCE CAMPBELL. He is a great actor in all movies and this is his start. It is also the start of Sam Raimi's directing career. There is great directing, great acting, great fun, inventive camera angles, and even a little bit of nudity if you like that sort of thing. so watch and enjoy.
