The Last of Us (2023– )
10/10
Perfect game adaptation ( so far )
16 January 2023
The producers made a really good decision trying to follow the source material closely because The Last of Us the game was already very cinematic.

Almost everything is verbatim to the game in the first episode and Naughty Dog's storytelling shines through.

I wasn't completely sold on Pedro Pascal as Joel, but I am starting to see it, the next episodes will solidify his Joel persona, hopefully!

Ellie is also a surprising good fit for the role and I can't wait to see more of her in the next episodes.

The atmosphere and the post apocalyptic vibe is also spot on, FEDRA and the Fireflies are nicely represented as well.

All in all this has the makings of a great show! Don't mess it up guys!

Reminiscence (2021)
6/10
Disconnected ... memories ?
19 August 2021
I'm not going to discuss the movie at length, others will do that definitely, I'll just say that I left the theater feeling absolutely nothing.

I was not attached to any of the characters during any part of the movie, with such great cast and Lisa Joy at the helm it's hard to miss the point, but I think Reminiscence has missed it.

The story wants to be on one side of a disbanded/chaotic near future, and on another side a heavily policed and rule abiding citizens kind of future.

The cast is awesome, but there's absolutely no chemistry between them, I honestly feel like Hugh had more charisma and chemistry playing that teacher that was convicted for embezzlement.

And every other moral or lesson falls totally flat because of this weird world Lisa Joy has built and the lack of chemistry between the cast and the view with the cast.

It's a bit tragic to see something like this go to waste.

Wrath of Man (2021)
8/10
A different Guy Ritchie beast
17 August 2021
As other reviewers have said, this is more of a heist / revenge film, very different than the usual lighthearted Guy Ritchie typical heist movie.

The first act seems like the beginning of a bad movie but it gets progressively darker.

I'm not a Jason Statham fan for the past ~10 or so years but he's really a good fit in the movie.

There's some mild twists but most of it is quite predictable.

Nevertheless! It was a very fun watch and was pleasantly surprised on all fronts.

Quarantine (2008)

This is a ripoff from the movie REC
25 January 2009
The minute I saw the description of this movie I had a flashback. This is the first time I do a IMDb comment, I read many comments on all the movies I am about to see, but with this movie I just had to write a review.

I watched sequences of this movie and I am outraged by the imbecility of American directors. This movie is a copycat of REC, a Spanish production from 2007 that had loads of nominations and wins, it is exactly the same movie but happening in LA, how great is that, the thing about the original movie REC, is that the whole cast was unknown and they did a splendid job, the most known character there was a soap opera queen in Spain.

I'd recommend to watch that movie instead of this one, it is the same thing, only much hard work put into it, and it shows.

I gave it this rating so that people can see this post, although I don't agree to a 6, maybe a two, no matter how great the movie is, it's just a copycat.

Bye, Arthur.
