Meet Cute (2022)
I feel everyone has missed the point
After seeing the reviews of this movie I was reluctant but still felt this deserved a go and I am adamant most of everyone missed the point of the movie. This is not about "time travel" it is about a person in a deep dark depression and finds a glimmer of happiness and would rather live forever in that moment than try to live their life. It's about depression, it's about dealing with an unknown future, it's about trying to hold onto a moment of hope and how can you movies forward.
It is not a high budget extravaganza or anything that is going to winner an Oscar but it is a good watch worthy of people's 90 minutes.
The Batman (2022)
The bat at the speed of tortoise.
Firstly and striaght up, there is elements in this movie I adore. The story, the complex riddles that link into a final scene, the action shots, the acting all just wonderful.
The issue here is pace. The pace is a abysmal, some moments just feel too long or the camera is held too long on it and if you sped them up you would shave 30 min immediately.
Some parts of the movie made me feel like it didn't know what it wanted to be. I questioned at one point if this was a saw movie but some of the camera and scene choices.
Over all great movie that didn't need to be 3 hours.
Uncharted (2022)
I'm this world, this movie is quality.
In a world where fast and furious is making a billion dollars this is a great movie.
The movie is full of fun and nonsensical action but is tied with a sense of national treasure / Indiana Jones logic about its story you accept the world and the adventure the hero's are on.
The reviews bombing this make absolutely no sense, I'm not sure what they were expecting.
Home Sweet Home Alone (2021)
I just can't ....
I'm not against remakes in most cases and was going to go into this with an open mind as some of the cast i have enjoyed but man this is just awful.
The change of premise makes no sense at all and almost like they wanted to play "you know no one is the bad guy really" which is the point of the original...hero vs villains.
The kid have seen in things but this he just is wooden and can not act what's so ever, I'm not sure why.
This didn't need to be made and if they planned on it they should of leaned all the way in and go 100% for it but this is just making a mockery of a series that was once loved and stand the test of time.
The Spy Who Dumped Me (2018)
It Sucks
This movie sucks, it goes way too long and tries to do too many things for a simple plot movies.
No one really is funny nothing realy "bites"
Passengers (2016)
This movie delivers on the 'taste' you got in the trailer.
Passengers stars house hold names Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence who are heading to a new planet to help colonize a planet but the trip takes hundreds of years so they are in suspended animation for the trip. The trip take an inverted turn when the characters are woken from there sleep and end up being the only ones on the ship.
Point I want to make with this movie is what annoyed me is a lot of reviewers for this movie are saying 'this movie is not what it seems, the trailer doesn't tell you enough' or 'it misconstrued the plot'. I am not going to give away what this is, but IT DOES NOT, repeat DOES NOT misconstrued, confuse or lead you in to a movie that is not what you are going to get. The trailer did something a trailer hasn't done in years....it doesn't reveal the entire movie. It gives you enough to know that this movie is beautiful, the set designs, the CGI is all amazingly beautiful as it should be and in that it peaks your interest... outside of solely peaking your interest this movie delivers the end product and does so very well.
I will say that two thirds way through the movie I did find one minor detail just convenient and probably is a bit of a plot hole that is just brushed over, but in saying that it wasn't a ridiculous hole that doesn't have some possible logic, but could of been cleared with a simple 1 line sentence.
This movie was a great opener for my 2017 and recommend everyone does that same to.

Blair Witch (2016)
Who are the real heroes of this movie ?
Blair Witch takes place in 2014 with he brother of Heather from the original Blair Witch Project, names James. James with his friends enter the forest, but this time to see if they can find the house that his sister was once last seen in, after the search team for his sister and friends found no evidence of a house existing.
The simple part of this movie is, the most part of it, it is just Blair Witch Project, but set in the 21st century. They have GPS, Phones, new Cameras and even drones which in the end is as irrelevant as the map that was used in the Blair Witch Project. About half way through this movie does take a different turn and comes into its own, but almost comes so far into its own it rarely relates to the Blair Witch Project in the second half. The Blair Witch in this one, knocks over trees, makes loud stomping sounds and is present without being seen, and even at point does something so drastic its so out of the ordinary to the original movie (will no spoil this). Where as Blair Witch Project you saw nothing and head little besides sticks and leaves, and kind operated like this 'is she supernatural, or just a scary old woods lady, this was most of my problem with this movies.
As far as this movie is scary, yes it is scary...but nothing more than due to sound and editing. I know, I know that is a fundamental to horror / scary movies, but this movie actually didn't build much in suspense in plot, but it relied on silence followed by loud (way turned up) scratchy camera sounds, wind blowing into mics and jumpy footage to make you on edge and towards the end became really annoying and left me waiting for that 'moment' again rather than being actually in suspense. In saying that I also understand that this movie has a lot to compete with in trying to be scary with 'found footage' movies, the bar has been raised since 1999 and the genre is almost a dime a dozen these days...but the real heroes of this movie on making it 'some what' quality is the sound and editing team.
This movie wont be for everyone. If you are a fan of the first, or fan of the now 'found footage' genre then this will be a fine watch for you. The movie is mostly watered down by a non-involving plot and really a genre there isn't much left you can do with.
