Incredible Creatures That Defy Evolution (2000)
An embarrassing attempt to try and discredit scientific fact.
The logical leaps are numerous. I don't think there is anything in this "documentary" that wasn't a huge leap in logic. There are a few interesting scientific facts in this though. The presenters attempt to use evolutionary advantages in animals to disprove evolution. It doesn't get much stupider than that folks. Kind of a funny watch if you have a pretty solid understanding of evolution. Clearly some animal biology was studied for this "doc" which can only mean the makers are really really dense or unscrupulous liars. It is quite simply pathetic.
Stargate SG-1: Cold Lazarus (1997)
Perhaps I'm being too generous...
I suppose, I should be a little more critical. But any show or movie that has me crying for nearly half the runtime (intentionally), deserves high praise. This is a beautiful, emotional story. With a few tweaks the bulk of this story could have even been a feature film. It's very rich. The look into Jack's tragic past was very special and Powerful. And I'm a sucker for sci-fi stories with positive emotional outcomes, where some alien entity helps someone overcome some sort of trauma. Which is a more common thing in sci-fi than you would think; see: The movie Arrival, Mission to Mars, the Outer Limits episode: The Conversion and many more.
Alfred Hitchcock Presents: Graduating Class (1959)
A very poor episode.
It's a strange episode that meanders and it's never totally clear what the stakes are. When any complications in the story are resolved they are to little narrative effect. Maybe the episode played better in '59, but I doubt it. This is a very poorly structured episode.
