This is very similar to the situations in Iran!
6 October 2022
If you've ever lived in Iran after the Islamic revolution, this is almost exactly what is happening in the country. Iranians are very open minded and from the first day the mandatory Hijab became the law for women, there were protests everywhere for it. After a while people started to give up and instead live double lives: one in public places for example in government offices or in the streets where "morality police" was there to fine everyone who doesn't obey the law and send them to the police office if they fight with that. And another life in their personal gatherings and in their homes. So most people didn't accepted the kind of lifestyle that the government tried to create for them. So the Hijab here (in the personal life) from a symbol of religious belief, bacame a symbol of supporting the totalitarian government.

So this show is very relatable for Iranians.

It is not perfect but very similar to the truth!
4 August 2020
I started to watch the series because there was so many reviews in Iran especially in the conservative newspapers. Most of them wrote negative things about the new, as they called, "anti-Iranian" show in Israel.

The first episode wasn't quite accurate to me especially the part where she first came to Iran and saw an execution scene in the middle of the city (I have lived in Iran for 24 years and have never happened to see such a scene in public, maybe I don't go out very often!). But as I continued to watch I get so excited of how accurate the show is. Especially from the cast and crew who don't live in Iran and even can not come to the country to do some research. It is very true. The details and the story. It is not perfect for sure but it's very similar to reality.

I really liked the series so far, it is both smart and entertaining to watch. Politics aside I love the people of Israel and like the multi culture atmosphere in there. As I watch the series I also know more about the country.

I also have to say that I don't like how Israel's secret agency sabotage Iran. Not exactly sure how many of those events, that happen in Iran once in a while, are from Israel but some of those are from them for sure.

Overall, to the makers of the show, thanks for the series that pictures Iranian people (with all of their paradoxes) similar to the truth. Most films that take outside of Iran sadly portrait us too evil.

I'm Iranian and I didn't like the movie
15 January 2019
First of all I'm not a professional viewer. It was a weak 'Hollywood style' movie, and by Hollywood style I mean those that show women as sex toys and there's always have to be a hero to save the world. Of course not all Hollywood movies are like as I described. Definitely not an Iranian movie, does not even have Iranian vibe to it, probably an Iranian-American culture. I like Maz Jobrani, but this movie I really didn't enjoy and I do not recommend this to anyone.

So funny!

I'm a Persian/Iranian and I think the movie 300 was extremely racist. I'm not a historian and I'm not sure if the story behind the movie was true or not but the way it presented ancient Persia and Persians was offensive and not true. I think this movie is so hilarious and funny. I recommend this to every Iranian who was upset about the actual movie just like me. To know that not all Americans think about other countries like that. Personally this is not the type of cinema that I'm interested; but if one of the purposes of cinema is to tell people not to take life so serious, this movie done its job well.

Piece of art...!

Warning: Spoilers
Farhadi told us the whole story through the mouth of husband and wife, he let us to hear them talking. sometimes in the movie he even let us to judge them, and at the end he told the story through the mouth of their 18 year old child. He did it so perfect that only Farhadi could end such a story, like that. Ending in Farhadi's movies is so important, even more important than the whole movie. At the end he put into the story his own view. Because every character has his own story, and the beautiful art is you let him talking himself.
