The Watcher (2022)
Good actors but dumb story
Even though this is based on a true event (a family got weird, scary letters by "the watcher"), it dragged on. Just tear up the letters and don't read them. If the watcher is watching, they will see that you're not reading the letters. I don't see how these dumb letters can wreak havok, things were added like a person called and just breathed and the wife got super scared. And then there was a whole story from a former owner of the house, which was creepy, but in the next scene the detective dismissed that person as being a pathological liar. So, that never happened. Nothing really happened in the first three episodes so I stopped watching.
Prisoner of Love (2022)
James Hyde is hot!
I watched this on Lifetime, it was called Trapped By My Sugar Daddy, which I think is a better title. The title grabbed me, and I enjoyed every scene with the actor who plays Kyle, the rich sugar daddy. He's so HOT!
Downhill (2020)
Not a comedy but a kickass drama
If you're not married you won't enjoy the perfectly portrayed rage by Julia LD and this realistic portrait of a marriage. This movie will appeal to those who have been married, especially in a long marriage. I loved this, and I especially loved when JLD was yelling at her husband Will Ferril in front of his friends. Awesome. A strong woman character, and nice scenery of the Austrian mountains too.
My Cousin Rachel (2017)
Stayed true to novel except for Hollywood Ending
The book was better than the movie in this case, even though the movie stayed pretty true to the book. Philip gets increasingly obsessed and paranoid about Rachel. The movie doesn't show this as well as the book does. Also the movie doesn't show how awesome and beloved Rachel is in the book. My biggest problem is the ending that the movie added: Philip gets to be happily married at the end after he sent an innocent woman to her death? No!
Dreamland (2016)
For those who like piano bars
Yes, this story has been told (The Graduate), but I loved this for the character of Monty, because I can relate to being a piano teacher, hustling around town to earn $25/lesson, and then the elation of getting that gig at the swanky hotel. And I love piano bars!
Monty has dreams of opening his own piano bar. I rooted for him.
The older woman was not that pretty in my opinion, I mean in some shots she looked really old, (sorry); but she was a good actress. This movie was not so much about the romance, more about a guy trying to make a living from his doing something he loves. (Piano bar). Plenty of humor in this, especially a hilarious scene with Jason Schwartzman. This movie stayed with me a long time. LOVED IT. There could have been more piano music/piano playing scenes. Recommended for anyone who loves piano bars.
