Alone Together (2022)
Slow but steady
A sweet film that is romantic and sad in all the right doses. Nothing seemed out of place and the soft piano score was perfect for the ambiance. Holmes gives a more vulnerable performance than normal, but still seems a bit too gaurded. Sturgess is wonderful as always. I wanted to know more about each of their characters just as much as they seemed to want to get to know each other.
Added note: especially for those who lived in NYC, had family passed from COVID, or overall struggled through the pandemic you may want to refrain from watching. Definietly brought up some memories and feelings from lockdown.
The Diplomat (2023)
Perfection.
Fantastic in every way. Keri Russell is at her best (and thank you for making her look like a real human being.) The relationships are complex and interesting, the events plausible, and the music a little nugget of joy that adds to this series.
If you enjoy the political dramas with an element of espionage this is your cake. If you enjoy the Bridgerton/Downton Abbey cultural components of decorum and architecture then that's your frosting.
Beyond that I wish to add nothing else because I hate spoilers and giving away too much. The only downside is that its only 8 episodes. Cannot wait for season 2.
Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)
Dynamic
I want to give nothing away. This movie is brilliant and my new favorite. All the feels, all the ways, all at once. Michelle Yeoh was the reason I wanted to see it, and per usual she was perfection.
Vivo (2021)
New favorite movie
Not often does a movie make me LOL literally and this one did on multiple occasions. Gabi is my spirit animal.
