Really good Trans movie
6 December 2023
This is an entertaining movie. You have to have that even before you get into the Trans issues. There is so much I do not understand about Trans people. This movie went a long ways toward increasing that understanding. I have always accepted and supported trans. That's not the issue. The why is the issue. This movie dives into relationships and how a Trans person is affected and who they choose to love (at least in this movie). I appreciate the efforts by the performers. There is surprisingly good acting thru out this film; by a variety of actors. There is still so much about Trans is still an 'unknown'. However, this movie definitely explains a lot. This movie makes me want to learn more about Trans and seek greater understanding.

this guy is a Priest?
20 March 2022
Jordy has moved in with Will? The Priest is sleeping around? At times these guys pal around like fraternity brothers in their early 20's. So far both episodes are an example of the absence of any attempt at morality. This is the 50's? The local 'virtuous' Priest? Is having an extra-marital affair with a married woman? And, he repeats his sex with the woman even after he's suddenly aware she's married? Then, his buddy, the local police detective is suddenly on the outs with his wife? (even though at the end of last season, Jordy and Cathy seemed to have reconciled, and things were fine with their marriage) Jordy, the Detective, has moved into the Vicarage? Where would this happen? If Jordy was on the street, no visible means of support, perhaps.. but? A gainfully employed man? This is a silly stretch for viewer interest. I miss James Norton, he was made for this role.. so far the character development' parts of the show are messy. Regarding this specific episode, it's pretty good, as far as the plot, and the solving of the crime. That's really what a good show is all about.

Bad Parenting a Prototype
6 January 2022
This movie is compelling because of good acting. The basic moral of the movie is: "Selfish Mother = Distant Children". Time & again we see so many examples of a parent who shouldn't have had children. And of course, later in life, the Parent realizes what an abject failure she was as a parent. Too fatigued to spend time with her kids; yet time to have romance with strangers and time to cheat on her husband. We also see current abhorrent parenting. The theme is- if you have kids; have the commitment to actually raise them! The lead character has time to do everything- EXCEPT BE A PROPER PARENT!

Grotesquely Awful! One Of Worst Films Of All Time.
20 December 2014
Really sick and disgusting. Full of non-stop gratuitous violence with absolutely zero redemptive quality. The people that made this horrendously awful piece-o-crap 'film' need to go thru some kind of remedial movie-making boot camp. (complete with the kind of egregious physical torture they induced thru out this abortion of a miscarriage called a 'movie'.) The only thing worse than the actors involved in this film, is the audience that is forced to sit thru it. This noir is a truly revolting, resoundingly repugnant waste of anyone's oxygen to spend any time at all viewing. Take a dump on this movie and spend your time watching paint dry. It will be much more fulfilling. This is the kind of 'film-making' that makes me believe anyone can make a film.. and amazingly.. some company will actually distribute it.. truly a wonder.. This is the worst movie I've seen in... well.. ever. Really, really, really, really bad!

Better than OK movie
3 August 2014
This is a low-budget, dialogue-driven movie. That being said, it's a 100-times better than the movie 'Noah'. This film is about the trying and reflective times of a blue-collar carpenter and his family and friends in urban Oakland. The focus is on the boring tedium of the lead character's manual labor job, his wife, and her loss of income and relative importance, and their two children and how they/he has not achieved the things he wanted out of life. There are some quite unusual experiences that happen along the way. Drugs, lots of alcohol consumption and even a gay 'experience'. All-in-all, this movie represents what seems like a 1st-time film makers foray into making a movie. Non-recognizable performers with no frills type acting. I wish more movies were like this, and I wish there were fewer films were like the big-noise-big-special-effects Hollywood blowout. This movie is easy to watch and overall, an enjoyable film. I got a lot more out of this movie than the basic 'epic' genre film.

Same Old - Trite Retread. - Why?
23 July 2014
This film represents a rerun of the same old who cares military rah-rah movie. Rather like a fraternity hell-week, look how special we are group. This squad of Seals has now been done too much and it's tragic to see the same old thing again and again. A major problem is - the actors are well-known and they are for the most part well into their 40's. MUCH too old to be doing this sort of thing any more. This group of actors is NOT believable. These guys are too old, and would simply know better than to participate in this kind of mindless-robotic conduct. The actors do not fit the roles. Even their hair cuts are unrealistically long. I have never seen a navy seal without a high and tight crew cut. These guys are 'long-hairs'. It's also VERY difficult to watch this kind of military action and not feel like what a total and complete waste of time all of this is/was. What are we doing over there? Why are our country's soldiers being sent to a conflict that has zero national interest? All this does is cement the viewer into the position that George 'Dub-Ya' Bush was the absolute WORST president of my lifetime, and what a terrible, horrific, useless waste of resources in human life, and in money for a task that we had absolutely no business being involved. What in the world are we doing over there? To what end? And to who's benefit? Difficult to sit thru the movie. Just make it a video game and be done with it.

Not as good as American Hustle
5 July 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Seriously? Those of you who compare this film to American Hustle need to consider therapy. This movie is deeply-flawed and terminally so when the lead character decides to give up his career as a police officer in favor of protecting a cold-blooded killer. This turn was absolutely, ludicrous and downright silly. It would never, under any set of circumstances happen. It was at this point that some in my party left the viewing in the pursuit of more worthwhile endeavors, like rearranging a sock drawer. Overall, an OK film. However; too much attention (for no apparent reason) is given to the absolute scum of the earth criminal elements to the downfall of law-abiding folks. At least some of the sound track was nice. Taking us back to the 70's. The basic concept of a police officer covering for his corrupt, ne'er-do-well brother never ended thru-out the entire movie. No one is going to throw away their life for a complete loser of a human being. Yet, that is essentially what we're asked to believe in this movie. Clive Owen is a most-hated man and he does a great job. Billy Crudup, on the other hand, is forced to play second-fiddle to a horrible criminal element and this is completely unbelievable. It would have been much better if the good brother would have been allowed to keep his life. (which is what would have happened)

Poor Imitation of LA Confidential
29 March 2014
Very difficult to follow plot. This film is a poor mans British version of LA Confidential. Complete with the overly predictable cryptic reference to convey guilt. Too bad because these are talented actors. The chase scenes in automobiles and on foot are the highlight of the film. Completely nonsensical with clandestine meetings and corrupt cops expected to go undetected in the city that has more closed-circuit cameras than any place on the planet. A serious movie should take into account that follow-up investigations made by law enforcement will look at cell phone records and bank account histories. These criminals behave as if they aren't concerned about getting caught. The director and writer of this film apparently forgot these obvious facts. Cannot recommend this film.
