Don't understand other reviews.
25 April 2024
Even though there are some interesting ideas, no other aspect of this film works. Most of the acting is amateurish. It makes you realize how difficult it can be to act convincingly.

It is overly long. Parts of the score is probably the best ingredient in this film. The cinematography is nothing special. I lost interest less than halfway through but did finish the film.

No way is this anywhere, anywhere near a 10 film. To keep the reviews relatively honest, maybe those involved in the film should only put one 10 review on here. I can only assume all the tens have some connection to the film.

Again, I rented this and I regret it.

Why only dubbed version?
30 December 2023
I really wanted to watch this series. Why doesn't Hulu offer it dubbed & in German. I will not watch a dubbed movie, it destroys the performances.

I would imagine this says much about Hulu's concept of their average users. Besides the fact that streaming brings us back to TV before cable. You are forced to sit through constant advertising, with no option to face forward. We need DVR service on our streaming services. The consumer continues to be subject to the whims of the streaming services.

So I cannot review this film because of the dubbing!

Would it be so difficult to offer both versions? We are paying for these services!

Tombstone (1993)

Oscar worthy Val Kilmer performance
29 July 2021
Tombstone is a great, entertaining Western. Kurt Russell as Wyatt Earp is wonderful, but this is Val's movie. From his first appearance to the last heartbreaking scene, he is amazing. Coughing, always sweating, a sick but loyal (to Wyatt) friend, Kilmer gives the performance of his career.

The film is rich, and always interesting. A worthwhile investment of a bit over two hours.

Three times the waste of time!
9 July 2021
I thought this might be something special, three parts, hopefully I new refreshing take. No such luck! The same recycled story but this time three times as long!

At least I won't even try part 3! Let's have intelligent, interesting horror & sci-fi stories that scare, frighten and engage us.

Overrated, and boring.
5 November 2019
Based on the rating, I expected a decent horror movie. What a letdown!! Boring stories, typical run of the mill supposed horror film. Back to the drawing board for the creators of this mess! Nothing to see here!! Skip it!

Incredibly interesting series
16 October 2017
My wife and I binge watched this entire series. We watched two episodes one night and the 8 episodes the next day. Based on a nonfiction book detailing the work of the beginning in the 1970's of the behavioral crimes unit of the FBI and the advent of the FBI profiler, the series is addictive. Anything that David Fincher is involved in is usually excellent and this is no exception.

The term serial killer was created by this unit and the interviews with several of the killers in prison are fascinating, especially the Ed Kemper interviews.

The series is available to stream on Netflix and I can only hope there is a season 2. Truly an excellent, well written and acted series.

Enjoyable film with fine performance by Richard Gere
11 July 2017
I really enjoyed this film and felt that Richard Gere's performance was spot on. It's a pleasure to see a film without explosions, relying on CGI to carry the film.

It's intricate, fun to follow with good performances throughout. My only problem is the lack of English translations for a fair amount of Hebrew spoken. Most you can figure out what's going on, but there were several conversations where a translation would have helped. I don't know if this was done on purpose or an oversight.

Save for that, an enjoyable two hours!

A unique, provocative film!
8 April 2017
I hardly ever give a film a 10 rating. Reading reviews on this site, a 10 is given way too often. After saying all of that I am giving this film a 10 for a number of reasons. It's unique, disturbing and more horrific than all the slasher, gore-fests out there.

I've been a lover of horror films most of my life but have soured over the past 10 - 15 years due to the lack of imagination and cookie cutter plots that have inundated the genre. You can predict almost everything that will happen, plus the acting is usually wooden, etc.

Not so with this brilliant film. Filmed in stark black and white, it captures you from the opening scene and doesn't let go. If you watch it on DVD, I would also recommend you watch the director's comments. This is a 27 year old who wrote, directed and edited the film. I predict great films from him.

If you like a different kind of horror story, please watch this film!

Without the word "Cloverfield" in the title, this would have bombed!
31 May 2016
I haven't written a review in awhile, but now I must! There are so many similar films about survivors after a catastrophic event that if this film had any other title, it would not be reviewed so positively. Granted, the acting is top rate, I love John Goodman, but after "Cloverfield", which I loved, I could not wait to see this. I was shocked by how little imagination was used in developing the story! I was also angry! By using Cloverfield in the title, it creates some anticipation that what you will see will be different than the run of the mill films out there. Nothing makes this different than any of the multitude of films about survivors in a bunker and their interaction. Save the money and time and just re-watch the original!
