More plot holes than Swiss cheese macaroni
4 February 2024
The story is wildly inconsistent. The lore of the world changed without explanation multiple times per episode Seems like writers, directors and producers all had different visions.

Most of the characters where unrealistic and just hard to watch. Seemed more like a direction issue than the actors themselves.

Pacing was way off. Lots of wasted screen time. Failed to keep me involved.

Shioli Kutsuna managed to shine despite all the poor direction. Shamier Andersen was also very impressive. Obviously made significant effort to get into character. Really highlights the acting skills of these two, to be able to shine through all the cheesy macaroni.

Golshifteh Farahani was absolutely terrible. She seemed to be the focal point of bad writing and directing. Her bland and erratic acting didn't help. Her character was completely unbelievable. Making poor decisions one after the other. I was hoping she would get killed off from the first scene.

Reacher (2022– )

Amazing First season but fails in the second act. Another Prime Showcase flops
13 January 2024
The first season is one of the greatest shows ever made. Alan Ritchson is awesome. Its got a really good balance of mystery, detective, and hardcore violence. Its a much watch if you like action or detective shows.

I came to review the second season which falls very short of the first season. Its got no mystery, flat fight scenes, character development that goes backwards. Its just a massive boring flop. They are expecting to get views based on the good work the first season layed down and its just plain lazy. I feel ripped off and have cancelled my Prime subscription. So disappointed by Prime in 23-24. They had some great shows in the past but recently its devolved into lazy writing and sub B grade acting. Reacher is another victim of their previous success. Gone are the days of great shows like Man in the High castle, The Expanse, The Boys etc etc. Its starting to feel like the Asylum has taken over. Its that bad. Hopefully enough people unsubscribe so Prime are forced to stop being so lazy. At time of writing this I'm at episode 7. I dont think its got enough legs to get me to watch the finale. I'm soo bored with this season I just cant muster the energy to sit through the predictable conclusion. There's just nothing left in the plot material. If theres a big action scene it will be incredibly contrived because the season has run out of legs about 3 episodes ago. Boring.

Deep Blue Sea 3 (2020 Video)

Not quite watchable
29 July 2020
Glaring technical flaws come hard and fast. I went in expecting technical inaccuracies , but it was really bad. Bad swimming, bad boats, bad diving, bad robots. None of which could actually work as depicted. Especially the nerf guns that blow stuff up.

Add to that some low B grade actors, bad cgi, and bad camera work.

I won't pick on the bad plot, its a killer shark movie. Bad plot is expected.

Do your self a favour and re-watch the original. Or if you want b grade. Try Sharktopus. I wouldn't even torrent this rubish.

More dull romance drama than Sci-fi
26 July 2020
Boring cliché romance main plot with nothing interesting to see. Most of the Science is available now, although not very well known. Its far from science fiction.

Sets where good, acting and wardrobe where very meh.

Would have been good about 30 years ago. Today its just meh. Maybe watch if your really bored and like bad romance.

Total Rubbish

I'm going to put as much effort into this review as the production team put into props and casting.

Thanks for reading.

The Head (2020– )

Watching this was a lot of work.
26 July 2020
Not a thriller. Was about as thrilling as 90210. Hardly a mystery. While there is a mystery. You cant solve it because the clues get served to slowly and blatantly. Low brow fantasy. Every major plot point is built around something that is not going to ever happen.

I'm all for suspended belief when watching a movie or show. But this one really makes you work hard to have any hope of entertainment.

From Diesel fuel explosions to people running around in the arctic in their underwear. Remote research stations with only one means of communication and only one coms Opperator. With no spare parts for the only radio.

The glaring technical flaws come hard and fast to the point its impossible to enjoy the reasonably good acting. Could have been much better if the production and writing team actually put some effort in to doing some research into the location.

One shot wonder
31 January 2020
First episode was fantastic. Dark, suspenseful and very well produced by all involved.

Episode 2 and 3 where dull and uninteresting. I kept waiting for it to return to the quality of the first episode, but it just kept getting worse.

Do yourself a favor and don't watch past the first one. Probably a good summery on youtube etc etc if you really want to know the plot, but don't want to waste 3 hours watching a story that goes nowhere.

Not Violent enough. Rambo fans will only like the last 12 min.
5 December 2019
If you like Rambo, do yourself a favor and skip the first 70 min or so. Its just stupid story that makes no sense. You just want to see the last 12 min.

Personally I was very disappointed. Too much talk and not enough bodies. I feel sorry for anyone that paid to see this. Hope you get a refund.

Hire an editior already. This is audience abuce.
22 June 2019
I just watched the first one. Its 30 min of acting, in 5-10 second bursts, fluffed out with 60 min of waiting for the next bit of acting. No way am I sitting through 9 more of those.

I'm sure I can find a brick wall more interesting to look at. Than the expressionless faces of the actors while they try to remember the next line.

Cut the long boring meaningless pauses where the actors all stand around looking like brainless morons and you'd have 10x 20-30 min episodes of excellent viewing.

Story looks ok, but nothing new. Currupt cop bits off more than he can chew and gets a bit more corrupt. Show me the edited down version and it might hold my attention.

Next Gen (I) (2018)
9/10
No BS. Next Gen CGI anamation. Strogest lead in any animaiton sutable for kids.
8 November 2018
Next Gen is an appropriate title. I hope this is indeed the Next Gen of animation. If you are hoping for meaningless dribble and ridiculous sing alongs as published by the likes of Disney. Keep moving. Nothing to see here.

I loved this movie. Awesome storytelling with great use of Video, Voice and Music, together as a whole.. But not at all in the tacky over done, too perfect Disney style. There was nothing fake about the characters, no tacky sing alongs, no tacky dancing. Nothing tacky at all.. I see a lot of reviews on here criticising the behaviour of the lead. I think they probably didn't "get" this movie. But rather it made a swooshing noise as it went over their heads. This is a story of mental growth and personal development. Thats a hard story to tell if your lead is a perfectly mannered princess! This is a story of a teen learning by making mistakes. Like most of us do.

What sets this apart? I started to get a hint with the opening song and montage, by Bikini Kill, an indie punk feminist band! I never thought I would see/hear that in a kids movie, Much less a mainstream kids animation, but it worked so well. As did the rest of the soundtrack. By the time Bikini Kill finished playing some 3 min into the movie you have seen a myriad of flaws in the main characters. Not like the BS Disney, Pixar, Dreamworks etc etc keep jamming down our kids throats. But more like real word People. This left me and my 10y/o with a much stronger connection with the lead than any Disney rubbish could do in the entire movie. Because this is a story we have all lived. Those that don't get it and criticize the lead role, simply haven't gotten past this stage of adolescence yet.

As the movie progresses the characters slowly become aware of their personal flaws. I won't spoil it by mentioning what they do about them. But rest assured its entertaining for the adults that have lived though this stage of personal development and awakening. While offering some insight for youngsters that are yet to make their personal development journey. Without telling them how to live their lives.

I wasn't a fan of the quick dirty and cheap animation style, But considering the Netflix budget I think they did very well with what they had.

Bravo!

Worst final in a trilogy to date. If you liked the first one. DO NOT WATCH THIS ONE.
7 May 2018
I really liked the First Film. I liked the second film right until the ending revealed that this third movie was going to be a clichéd repeat of past movies that failed.

Even though I was aware this was going to be a shocker. With my expectations set as low as they can go. I was still disappointed at how well they removed every trace of what made the first movie good. Mystery- Gone. Suspense - gone. Awesome character development - gone. All replaced by a series of recycled junk.Z

Its so bad that its actually ruined the first movie for me.

I hope everyone that was involved in this travesty of a movie gets blacklisted from film and tv forever. I'm so sick of seeing this same plot and script over and over and over and over and over again.

An Insult to your intelligence. A show about mermaids named after ancient Greek Bird Women
13 April 2018
About what you would expect from a show about mermaids named after bird women. If you came looking for bird women (Sirens) then you will be disappointed. Vaguely interesting sci-fi/fantasy plot. 1-2 average actors. The rest is pretty low brow. Some eye candy but no nudity sadly. If this was billed as soft porn it would be worth twice the stars as the acting would be more on par.

Every plot development is spelled out repeatedly. As there isn't much plot this gets painful. There is about 5 min of plot development per episode and 35+ min of drivel while the characters go round in circles repeating themselves.

Script, not sure they had one. If they did, about 50% of the words are "Um" and "Ar" Seriously the script is really bad, worse than 80's cartoons, but with less certainty.

Acting is too good a word for most of the performances. Not even porno uses actors this bad. With the exception of Eline Powell, who does the best she can with the low brow directing.

Charterers are very unrealistic. No where is an entire town that dumb. If Forrest Gump came to town. He would be like Stephen Hawking by comparison.

Black Panther (2018)
3/10
Yawn. Poorly Filmed Snooze Fest.
19 February 2018
A few of the actors could have been good, if they had a better script and direction. Chadwick Boseman, Danai Gurira and Lupita Nyong'o where especially bland. Found myself hoping they would be killed off by the end.

Plot was the same as every other heroes quest plot. Except with less (zero) hero development. I've seen Roger Ramjet and Banana Man episodes with more hero development than the entire movie. Not even close to Marvel's lowest standards.

Same for the villain. He was more vanilla than villain. Although he just barely had more character than the Hero.

Fight scenes where dull, poorly motivated, poorly filmed and had little reason or logic. for the 40% where I could see what was going on I was mostly wondering why it was going on and why they weren't trying harder. I've seen better action filmed with a vibrating phone and posted to youtube with the wrong aspect ratio.

CGI was horrible and glaringly obvious so much so they actually had special sound effects to warn you that the cgi was happening. Sound effects also had bad computer generated sound. Like 80's video games had a love child with 80's synth. The Black Panther suit was especially bad, Looked some kind of bulletproof hologram. Which could have been cool if thats what they where going for.

Picture quality was really bad. I watched on a V-Max screen. It was very blurry. Not sure if this was just the cinema or if its the source material. Seemed to be worse in some places than others so likely the cinematography. Fight scenes where shaky and poorly framed, Futuristic city was out of scene, blurry and not very futuristic or believable. Looked like someone over polished a generic USA city and badly photo-shopped into India, not Africa. Except they still had bad (American) graffiti tags in the background. Was all shiny metal from a distance then grafiti concrete when up close... Overall was very confusing, not sure if futuristic slum was the angle or if was simply edited by a blind person who was so drunk they forgot half the cgi backgrounds.

From a sci-fi point of view the futuristic tech was also really bland, clunky and left me wondering why.

Politically The theme of hating everyone thats not descendant from Africa was simmering away the whole time. Found that pretty off-putting. Its not 1970 anymore. Re-visiting the politics of the Black Panther political party was pretty crass.

Overall it left me with the impression that the marvel no longer wants to produce the content that made them famous but still want to cash in with out putting the effort in.

Don't pay to see this. Might be worth watching on free to air tv if you're really bored and only get one station.

Inhumans (2017)

Inhumanely bad. Like a steaming pile of clown excrement.
10 October 2017
It would almost be funny if it didn't stink so bad.

How did this ever get beyond the concept stage? The people involved should be banned from the film/TV industry, the local library, and anyplace good stories are told. I'm not sure I want to share a planet with the people that created this steaming pile of excrement.

This show throws insult after insult at the viewers intelligence. I watched the 3rd episode just in case the pilot was especially bad, as pilots can be. Sadly it just gets worse. The more I watch, the more I find myself hating on every character in the show. Even the extras suck so bad you want to hate them.

The plot makes no sense. There are villains everywhere and no good guys. The guys that are clearly supposed to be the good guys are more evil than the bag guys. The more I watch them the more I hate them. If only the villain wasn't written so badly I would be rooting for him.

At first I thought the actors where all terrible. Then I realized one of the worst performances in the show, was the actor who played Ramsay in Game of Thrones. One of the best acting performances I have seen in the last decade, or ever really. To have the acting skills of Iwan Rheon reduced to what you see here must take some truly skilled directing and script writing. No one could make something this terrible by accident. It strikes me that its supposed to be a spoof, but poor PR led everyone to think its supposed to be serious. But sadly thats not the case

The pace and direction are just plain confusing. Everyone behaves like an angry, entitled, spoiled 12-13 year old.o one has any motivation, except the villain played by Iwan Rheon. I really want to like his character, but hes just too immature and also a bigger dick than Steven Segal.

The more I watch the more I hope every single cast member gets killed in a massive explosion. Or acid, or something that just kills them all immediately, before I have to watch another moment of this drivel.

Hopefully it will get canned before another episode goes to air.

A good fun movie.
3 July 2017
Some of the reviews on here are a bit harsh. If you want academy award winning acting, great script writing and a deep plot. You don't go see a movie about a giant gorilla that's known for smashing stuff.

Normally I avoid such titles as they are all so formulated. Which this was to some extent, but they did break away from the mold a noticeable amount. Which is a big part of what made it tolerable where others are not I had fun watching this movie. I thought it was pretty well done. By far the best King Kong since the old B&W version from 1933. The CGI was mostly plausible. Only a couple of moments of broken physics. The characters where about as well developed as they needed to be. Plot was pretty hole free.

Its not 10/10 stuff, but its not trying to be either. They got this one just right.

Normally I couldn't watch something in this genre all the way to the end. Or if I did I would be heckling it from about 10 min in as that would be more entertaining than the movie. Kong was different. I actually enjoyed it. Best monster movie since the 80's

Adult model plays 13 year old teen. Fake Fake Fake. With added Plastijesus.
10 February 2017
Yet another trash movie about a young teen played by an adult, who is also a model..... Nothing in this movie is believable.

No wonder young girls have so many image problems these days.

This is a sickly sweet feel good till you vomit religious propaganda version of 90210.

How is it that so few people have noticed the gratuitous liberty taken with the original story in order to market unhealthy lifestyle choices to young women while being disguised as Christian propaganda in order to gain fake support.

The moral of the story is that all the hard work and training she did to recover was a waste of time. Her imaginary friend fixed everything after she begged and pleaded enough.

Its one of the most disturbing films I have ever seen. Not suitable for young children or teens. I wont be showing it to my girl child who is just learning to surf.
