Is anyone really surprised?
30 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Did anyone actually think they were going to prove anything? The only thing they proved is that Jeff Mudgett is definitely a descendant of H. H. Holmes, as he was able to pull off the huge con of getting the History Channel to finance this ridiculous snipe hunt! I did not watch it expecting them to prove his joke of the Jack the Ripper theory. I only watched it because it provided interesting insight into the evil Holmes, & his appalling crimes. Nearly as appalling was Jeff's hero-worship of this piece of garbage. This also proves his descendance from Holmes...it takes garbage to idolize garbage.

My favorite episode of the whole series!

This is a beautiful story of the loving bond between a sweet old man & his sweet, just-as-old horse. As an animal lover, it really touched my heart. It is a very heartwarming episode.

Just terrible
13 April 2022
I love Westerns, but this one is so bad that I barely made it through one episode. From the annoyingly blurry clips in the opening, to the poorly written script, I can certainly see why it didn't last long.

Hauntingly beautiful
14 February 2022
This is such a sad episode on so many levels, culminating in Sam's quotation of a beautiful, beautiful poem attributed to Mark Twain, "Warm Summer Sun, just before Sam leaps at the end of the episode.

In reality, Mark Twain adapted this from a poem by Robert Richardson, titled "Annette". It is the epitaph on the headstone of Mr. Twain's beloved daughter, Susy, who passed away from spinal meningitis at only 24.

Still crying...
2 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This episode (& the ones leading up to it) did a very good job of showing how divisive & heart-wrenching the civil war was. It showed the varied issues, values & reasons to choose a side. Teaspoon's speech at Noah's funeral expressed what was to come very well. It made me even sadder seeing young Jesse James at the crossroad of his life, knowing the path he chose from there.

Having read the bios of all of the cast by now, I found it sadder still, knowing that Christopher Pettiet (Jesse James) died of an overdose at the very young age of 24. Yvonne Suhor (Lou McCloud)'s life was also cut short by pancreatic cancer.

This was a very powerful, well-done end to a wonderful series. As I said in the title...still crying...

Insultingly stupid!
7 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I don't usually take the time to write reviews, but the stupidity of this episode, & my extreme disappointment in what has up to now been a somewhat believable, well-written show compelled me to write this one. I have watched this show from the beginning, & I like it very much. Until now, the procedural details have been believable for the most part. I have no idea what happened with this episode. It seems that the regular writers took a vacation & they brought in a batch that usually write children's fiction, comedy, etc. Any credibility that the show previously had walked right out the door with the cartel kingpin. They violated the number one rule that anyone who has watched even one episode of a crime drama knows...THERE IS NO NEGOTIATION WITH TERRORISTS! Two resolutions to the problem mentioned at the beginning of the situation & screaming at us for the rest of the episode: First, the hollow threat that the ADIC issued to the druglord of placing him right next to the agent wired with the bomb. All that was needed to resolve the issue would have been to do just that. Apparently this option was only obvious to the viewers, & not to even ONE of the supposed "experienced" members of the FBI, all the way up the chain of command. Second, where was the explosives expert that was supposedly coming down from the third floor? Also mentioned only once, at the beginning of the situation. Apparently he or she left to join the regular writing staff on vacation.

A laugh track?! Really?!
12 October 2019
I thought that the laugh track was a thing of the past, but apparently it isn't. They had to have it for this show because that's the ONLY way they'll get laughs! It is just awful! It has some decent cast members, including Patricia Heaton, whose talent is just wasted by contrived, ridiculous writing. One & done...all I could stand was one episode.

Terrible movie, worse acting!
30 September 2019
This was a horrific, true event that was completely trivialized by how poorly the story was told! Making it even worse was Andrea Roth's "accent" that came & went throughout the movie...one of the worst attempts at a British accent EVER!

Nothing new
19 August 2019
I like the statements from the actual people involved...relatives, friends, investigative personnel, etc., but the acting in the re-creations is so bad, & the lisping narrator is SO annoying & distracting, it makes it hard to watch.

So touching
3 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This is my very favorite episode. I love the story of Peter Pan, & I like how the story loosely followed that. All 3 boys (& Homer the dog) are adorable, & as I'm a mom (& a dog lover), they break my heart. I cry every time I watch it, especially when Rat says, "Goodbye, Wendy", & Melinda says, "Goodbye, Peter". I do agree with the other reviewer's comment about leaving Homer behind, though. That IS just wrong, & I think that the only thing that would've made this better is if Homer crossed over with the boys.

What a waste of a great cast!

I like every one of the main actors, but did NOT like any of the characters they portrayed! Ridiculous & stupid! Don't waste your time!

Could have been better
27 December 2018
Nice story, & Bruce Davison is always solid. Dash, the dog did a better job than either of the "romantic leads"...both of whom were neither "romantic" nor lead character material. There was not one spark of chemistry in either their acting or the chemistry between them.

Waste of time!
27 December 2018
Poorly acted, terrible script, & unnecessarily, excruciatingly looong! The main character was so unlikable, I couldn't even find any sympathy for him. None of the characters had any redeeming qualities. I made the mistake of watching the entire thing, hoping for it to get better, but after nearly THREE HOURS, it never did, & mercifully ended...FINALLY!

What's with the drums?
3 December 2018
Interesting, well-acted medical drama, but the STUPID drums are SO distracting!!! They don't fit in AT ALL, & they take away from what would otherwise be quite a compelling show!!!
