A Plague Tale: Innocence (2019)
Not that good, not that bad
I feel a little bit surprised by the reviews calling this a 10/10.
The game is quite nice, actually, but it's far from being perfect. Both the story and the gameplay start quite slowly, and it takes a few chapters for the game to reach an interesting point. Also the relationship between the main characters feels very underdeveloped and a little cliché.
The game is mostly a puzzle game with a few survival elements (mainly gathering the components for the ammunition) and a couple of action segments.
As mentioned, the gameplay starts slowly, and for every new mechanic the game spents an exaggerated amount of time introducing it, up to the point where only half of the puzzles are actually interesting and changeling.
Despite all this flaws, the game its actually worth your money (specially the second half of it), and you won't regret purchasing it..
After Hours (1985)
Interesting, but not fulfilling
After Hours is the kind of movie that inspired lots of filmmakers but ultimately does not work by itself as a work of art.
The film tells the story of an average 80s worker that finds himself into a bizarre adventure full of absurd and terrifying situations.
The problem with the movie is that everything (the plot, the characters...) is so absurd that at the end you stop caring about what may happen next. The fact that the script jokes about thing that are not laughable (rape, suicide...) does not help at all.
I understand that this movie's absurd humour and the way it deals with twisted versions of actual 80s fears probably were very innovative in its time, but nowadays its not enough to surprise the average viewer.
Hereafter (2010)
Acclaimed only because Eastwood directed
I'm a big fan of Clint Eastwood's movies, and I have to say that if this movie had been made by, for example, Richard Donner, nobody would say they like it.
The main problem with Hereafter is that there is no story to be told. The script focuses on the lifes of three characters that have had close-to-death experiences. This plots never manage to get interesting except for a couple of sequences.
There are more problems in this movie. Sometimes the actors reactions are completely unbelievable and some other details are just plain ridiculous (double check the music at the last scene if you don't agree with me).
If you like Clint Eastwood's movies, do yourself a favor and don't watch this one. ;)
