After all that series rocked the house! Yeah, I know some people don't like it, but just remember this:
The series had great special effects and brought most of the voice cast members back!
I liked the new armored costumes which matched the colors of the lions they piloted, after all if they are traveling through outer space, doesn't it make sense to wear costumes that would allow you to do so?
I just hope this isn't like the Power Rangers tv show, with all of it's awful cheesiness! I hope that this movie doesn't translate badly like when Saban Entertainment brought Zyuranger Sentai to the states, and named it Mighty Morphin Power Rangers! Please stick to the script guys, and make it look futuristic!
Voltron is so much better than the lame Power Rangers! Those multi- colored spandex costumes on the rangers are laugh inducing and look like crossdressing outfits!
We don't know what the majority of fans think, and frankly, some changes are needed to bring this sucessfully into the 21st century! Remember this show has been in existance for nearly thirty years since it began in Japan! Younger fans identify more with The Third Deminsion of a few years ago than they do with the classic series of more than two decades ago! We are talking about a major movie here, one that has to be able to bring in new fans as well as ones who grew up with the legend nearly thirty years ago! In order for a film to be a success, you have to be able to secure fans from multi generations to be successful!
The original show will be nearly thirty years old by the time this movie is released, in 2008 or 2009 (if at all, since no studio has agreed so far) Remember, many people idenify with the power rangers these days, and I suspect the film studio, whichever it is will want to make this more up to date with the current times. Many franchises have made changes to make it more current.
While V3D, as you call it, only ran for two and a half seasons, it was still a success, and the merchandising sold well while it was in stores. The videos sell very well on line and at stores that also sell other similar types of fantasy, namely power rangers. The great thing about V3D is that many younger fans of the power rangers were introduced to Voltron from this series! My nephew was introduced to this concept from the V3D series, so no one can say that all the fans oppose that great series! I'm not saying it's great, but, it's a far better series than it's detactors think it is with great special effects and great animation. Remember the youth of today idenify more with the awful Power Rangers, and I fear that many liberties may be made, and it could end up being a power rangers type of movie, with politically correct type casting the same way that power rangers was translated from Japanese to English!
The flight suits in V3D were more realistic for pilots that fly into outer space, after all the G forces in outer space or at high speeds would kill a human pilot without the proper protection. You can't wear ordinary flight suits when flying at high speeds or in outer space, it's simply not possible, and most audiences know that and realize that these days. Many changes in technology have occured in the last couple of decades and audiences know about them!
A lot of things have changed since the first show began airing in Japan over twenty five years ago. Audiences are more accustomed to more realism from their movies. You can't take a costume as cheesy as a power ranger outfit and expect an audience to believe that you can fly a spaceship, or dinozord, or robot lion into outer space, without the proper flight suit it's just not possible! Remember, these are space explorers and pilots!
The design of the lions looked perfect in my opinion on both shows. I have seen both shows, and while I love both the original and V3D, and would easily take them over any Power Ranger or Zyuranger Sentai (Japanese Power Rangers) television show, anyone knows that to successfully make a film, an audience needs to identify with the authenticity of such a action type of film.
I believe that the producers are going for a fresh audience, one with an audience far too young to remember the original series which aired well over twenty five years ago in Japan, and bring it to a new generation of fans in the 21st Century. Some more realistic changes are going to be necessary for audiences of today to be able to identify and to relate to the characters if it's going to be successful. Remember this isn't an Earth bound action fantasy, most of the action takes place in outer space, and the producers have got to realize that realism is key to be successful.
I believe that the storyline will begin from the beginnning but changes are going to be necessary with costuming and the designs of the ships to be more realisitic and identifyable to audiences of today!
However, this movie could end up in limbo and never get made, who knows. Power Rangers is a fading franchise with it's days well behind it, and I think this concept has to be fresh to new audiences, or be identifyed as more of the same!
The megazord is lame, Voltron could tear it to shreads!
Voltron RULES, Power Rangers and their megazord are stupid!

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (1993)
Try the Japanese Super Sentai television show over Power Rangers!
I never quite understood the popularity of Saban's Power Rangers show which was quite simply a second rate Americanized version of Japan's ultra popular super sentai series of the past three decades! What was cool about the Japanese version gets completely lost in the American version, characterization, special effects, etc.
Of course many kids will say that power rangers are the greatest but they would be incorrect.
I'm sure if they spoke Japanese, they would learn how much better super sentai is over the American version.
Power Rangers is completely awful, try Super Sentai instead! Looking for a better show, try Voltron The Third Dimension instead!
Voltron: The Third Dimension (1998)
This is one of the best series ever, far better than Mighty Morphin Power Rangers!
I absolutely loved the CGI Voltron, which was made by the same people as the Beast Wars cartoons! In my opinion, Voltron is far superior and a lot more interesting than the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers!
The special effects are top notch, the costumes, the visuals, all state of the art! I love all of the characters and their cool new costumes in this show!
The new Stealh Voltron is so awesome! In my opinion, every fan of Voltron should purchase Voltron: The Third Dimension on DVD! This is the show to beat! You can purchase this show online everywhere!
As a fan of the show, I highly recommend this show to kids and adults everywhere.
Trendmasters made a set of toys from this show back in the late 1990s, the same time that Mighty Morphin Power Rangers mania was dying down!
By the way, if you're a power rangers fan, check out Zyurangers sentai from Japan, you won't be disappointed!
